Well it makes sense that teams would be popular as well because it still allows for strategy. An ffa is fun but it can be very biased.
It may be in the game, but it can definitely be said that that mode isnt meant to be balanced at all.
My whole point was that people who enjoy competitive multiplayer games dont like ffa type play, they like head to head, and thus theyd be able to play turn based since itd be short duels.
And im also not saying it SHOULD be TBS, but i believe that would draw more civspecific players to multiplayer.
I love the uber-chess game that multiplayer can be, but i cant get past simultaneous turns in order to play anything other than hotseat with local civers.

Also i hit no on accident, i meant to hit yes so thats another miscast vote.
Sorry!

They should just take the best of both worlds. Play simulteneously but have ingame option for concecutive turns which you can simply SWITCH every singe turn if you like, and switch back as well (turn order gets randomized once you switch). Of course all players would have to accept it if it pops up, and every player can only ask for it every 10 turns or something.

Not rocket science really. They just dont give multiplayer the attention it deserves...

Yes,FFA's are not really balanced for league play, but that is why years ago a lady with the nic Cton invented the Always War style FFA that we have been playing all along.

I m pretty sure that 5 hours of civing (some medium long mp civ game) is more as enough time fr a single PC game session.
And the ONLY difference from nonsim to sim turn is the warfare - I m pretty sure that warfare d be even worse with nonsim turns - like the england ship example shows very well.

The only people complaining bout sim turns are bad players who wonder why they cant smash mp opponent when they are soooo good at civ and totaly crush KING AI.

Its definatly not their fault of being BAD, but the game of civ gives magiclly the opponents some advantage.

as said, by tommy, which imo on of best mp players i encountered so far, everything have own cons and you need to adapt in any case.
I am not playing in league anymore because i am very busy man to have long time online gaming ... all i can allow is GMR which actually is Civ V consecutive nonsim... It have own problems... and some people lose cities from me without even seeing how it happened.... didnt saw the attacking force...lost unit lost city....this is problem with nonsim.... Also i remember my early games with tommy when i,despite controlling end turn moves and quick moves lost games to tommy who didnt did this. He wondered how i manage to control moves so well, and i wondered how he manages to control his civ so well, that he wins against me without nitpicking simturns moves.... So... simturn mastery could only deicide if there draw, and since sim turn mechanics are built-in mechanics and well known, if you lost them being in draw and lost game because of it it means you had less skill and knowledge at critical moment... normally games lost not because sim moves....
