Well, technically the game goes on as the objective is to get 35000 VP's, but it would feel very strange to start fighting each other. At least I see the fall of the Roman Empire as a victory for all barbarian civilisations...

Wow. Just got back from working in Switzerland and saw the Romans have been finished off, a couple of turns before I expected. Well done to the Franks and everyone else.

Thanks also to the Romans - it was a tight race in the end!

Well, I had always thought after Rome was finished that you guys would all gang up and try to destroy me. I have been looking forward to it actually. So I'm certainly up for continuing if you are.

I guess I'm a warmonger. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at the Sassinids but only if everyone was interested in continuing. Otherwise I will happily accept this as a barbarian victory.

Thank you all for my first PBEM experience, and altho I sucked royally, I still had fun (and admired the skills of my fellow game-mates).

I'm playing Civ4 and toying around with the SMAC demo, may get that I'm not sure yet. But anyways, I have to start working on my VB.Net certification, so time will be at a premium for a *long* time (sigh)

A final post.

I just took the time to read through this thread and finally read fe333au's spoiler. Interesting, and reminded me of how much I enjoyed this game. It was a great group to play with and the game moved along well.

If we haven't lost everyone to Civ IV maybe some of you would like to try another game in the new year. If not it was great playing with all of you.

I'll second that, but I really don't have much enthusiasm for civ3 now that I've had a taste of the new stuff.

I would be great to do civ4 with this crew though.

I also want to say thanks to all of you for a very fun game, especially the romans who were a challenging opponent and with whom I had some very funny conversations over my warrior that entered their territory without permission.

Same here, I would enjoy another game with you all. I have moved to civ 4 but not totally so I think another challenge would be good. In civ 3 or 4.

I will be looking for a new computer sometime early this year, but until then there is no sense in buying Civ IV. I still have 12 pbem games on the go in C3C and PTW.

Sorry to hear that. This game finished with the barbarian defeat of Rome. Maybe we'll meet in another game sometime.
