Well, Dodecanese (Dodekanisos) should translate from the Greek as the Twelve Islands, so the answer must be Greece. But I've never heard of the Seven Islands. (Are they the Sporades???)

On the same subject: Where in the world are the Thousand Islands (of salad dressing fame)?

yup!

you're right about dodecanese (dodecanisos) there is also "eptanisos" (seven islands) which are the ionian isles

You are correct: How the hell are there 1000 islands there, I don't know. I look at any given map, and keep coming up at least 850 islands short.

ok I'll give it a try for the country without looking in books.
The only european flag I can remember being yellow/blue is that of Ucraine. Originally I couldn't link them but now I think about it, this may be a possibility since the swedish army reached Ucraine in the 1600s (maybe 1700s) in the war against Russia. That's all I can come up with.
