Civ VI player numbers on Steam since GS was released have been better than the player numbers in the weeks after R&F was released, so the game seems to be doing fine.

If iPhone and Switch sales are good, those are another place to sell DLC down the road.

I expect additional content; whether it will be civ/leader pack(s) or a full expansion remains to be seen.

Palenque (Maya) was added in Vikings DLC. Babylon and Antioch (Byzantium) was added as a replacement in R&F. I don't think that we'll see them because it would create problems for those who compared or not the DLCs.

I can't see that being an issue - if, say, Maya are in xp3, Palenque city state will be renamed or replaced for those who have the DLC when you play xp3. As it is, if you're playing the base game, Seoul is a city state; if you're playing R&F, it's a Korean city and the city state was replaced (Babylon? I think?).

Yeah, mostly. Popularity will probably dictate if another xpansion will arise or not.

Awesome, with the GS xp I much prefer 6 to 5 now and spend most of my time on it rather than 5. So it makes sense to me that if many others share my opinion, and it would seem many do, then another xp or civ/leader pack is likely. I think civ packs would probably be the best way to go for them, especially if the cost of another xp would be around $40. I know I had trouble at first reckoning with the price of GS, and many others did judging by steam reviews. So a cheaper pack with civs and little to no gameplay expansion for $15-20 would be great.

I think we get DLC's for missing big civs like Byzantines , Maya , Portugal + some alt leader and some new civ. Tho 3rd xpac with economic victory is quite possible...but I doubt it will happen.

I'd love the idea of getting a classic alt leader xp with Napoleon, Caesar, Bismarck, Ramsses, Wu Zetian, Gustavus Adolphus etc...

I personally don't think we need another R&F/GS type of expansion, as more big systems added would probably make the game a little bit overcomplicated, but small tweaks and new civs/leaders yes.

Of all the Civilization Games released so far, I feel that Civilization VI has the strongest foundations for adding more content beyond the typical "2 expansions then we're done". Now whether we're talking a full-blown expansion or very large DLC, I am less certain, but a lot of the talk from Firaxis during the development of Gathering Storm certainly seems to imply that Civ 6 still has more life in it!

Another point to make is that Gathering Storm added game concepts that are just ripe for further expansion-like the Dual leader for Dual Civilizations, Natural Disasters, Pollution & a significant overhaul of Strategic Resources. The way they talked about the first two definitely made it sound like they had extra plans around these *within* the current iteration of Civilization.

    This.

Civ VI is a phenomenal base for FXS to expand off.

Third expansion? Sure. But some solid thematic DLC would work too. DLC focused on ideology, or economics and trade, or colonization, or military, or future tech ... each which expands or adds some focused mechanics, plus Civs, leaders, units, scenarios etc.

It would be very sad if FXS stopped developing this game when there is still so much potential.

As I have said elsewhere, I'd love to see them take on at least some of your ideas re: Golden/Dark Ages (along with some of mine ;) ). Government specific Dedications was one of my favourites of yours. Yes, though, DLC that focus on specific themes would be excellent.

Expansion or DLC, we still need Assyria, Babylon, Byzantium, and Ethiopia at the very least.

I think that all comes down to how well Gathering Storm sold, and I believe it sold quite well

Now that they've incorporated map tacks into the game, (and made the Great People fit on one screen) I'd like to see them integrate more CQUI features into the game itself. (Perhaps not enabled by default, like resource icons, but integrated.)

I wouldn't expect another large 40 dollar expansion but a smaller one which could even be like R&F. Even a smaller one for 20 dollars with new Civs and new little mechanics that could tie into the existing ones such as Disease/Plagues, Ethnicity/Cultural Identities, Colonies/Revolutions, with possible Corporations and Economic Victory would not be overkill in my opinion.

I love these ideas. I hope Firaxis does all of these in the future, especially economic victory.

They need to straighten Diplo out a little more, as well as some pacing (ie: district production). Hopefully the next XP is based on Economy/Diplo.

I've stated it before, here, I think that there are lots of reasons why a XP 3 is more likely than not.

To summarize and expand on that:
    • The leaker who was 100% accurte with GS Spoilers predicted a third expansion with Maya, Byzantium, Portugal, Assyria/Babylon, a Native American Civ, and Ethiopia.
    • The Hall of Fame is aligned to fit one more XP's worth of Civ's into it
    • The Dev team has already alluded to tweaks and other things (outside of bug fixes) that they are still looking at.
    • With multi-platform, including Switch and Mobile, they have a lot more invested into the existing game engine and more channels to sell DLC/XP's out to.
