Late game crashes

After having zero crashes for 10 hours of gameplay in two epic games, I'm now getting crash after crash in the end stages of each huge map/epic game.

Two games in a row, so it's not a fluke error.

It appears that the more map I uncover, the more unstable the game comes.

Smells like a huge memory leak to me.

Pity... great game.

Yes...I got the same thing. I was able to play right away, and I played for like 8 hours or so. I got to the late game(it was around 1928 I believe), and my game crashed back to the desktop. I didn't try another game since then, because I was too pissed at that point.

I'm not sure if mine was isolated incident or not, but from sounds of your dilemma....mine probably isn't isolated, but I only played one game.

Thanks Ainwood for the advice, but alas I am not computer savvy(basically I have no idea what your talking about...pagefiles??).

I don't think I should have to fart around with my PC AT ALL to play some video game......(just my opinion). It's just not that important to me.

Sooo.......I have solved my problem for the short term.....I picked up Call of Duty 2 and will play that until Firaxis decide to patch Civ 4.

Sad, because what I did get to play of Civ 4....it's a pretty good game when it works. I'll keep checking here to see when a patch comes out, but I'm not going to potentially mess my computer up just to get this game to work.
