Anybody having a problem with their CIV 3:Conquests game disk loading after installing the latest Microsoft Security Patch (KB935448)? I have the added problem of my RealTek DLL not working (another hot fix patch) too. I click on the CIV icon and it starts to load but then the screen just returns to the Desktop. If I uninstall the update or do a system restore everything is fine again. Thanks for any input. SB644 :thanx:

Hey there. It seems I can not run the game. I have installed it, and once I want to run it it wont work. Do you think is due to this patch? The editor seems to work
Thanks

If Civs worked before the latest Windows security Update but not after then it's the KB925902 patch. None of my Civ III discs run unless I uninstall KB925902 or do a system restore. I'm running WindowsXP sp2. I've seen on the web other game disks not running either so we're not alone. Fixing the problem is another thing..... My computer is HP and they're blaming Microsoft and vice-versa so it's the ol' hardware-software blame game where the customer is left stranded. It would be nice if a brainiac knew a work around this so my computer would be up-to-date on security. SB644

is it 925902 or 935448... you said two different numbers

for 935448 microsoft says to

1. Install all important updates from the following Microsoft Web site:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate (http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate)
2. Try to run the program that did not start again. If the program starts and if you do not receive the error message in the "Symptoms of the problem" section, you are finished. If the error continues, follow steps 3 through 5.
3. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...88-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86&displaylang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...88-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86&displaylang=en)
4. Click Download, and then click Run. If the Download button is not available, you must first click Validate to validate your copy of Windows.
5. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install update 935448.

Dear MarkC1,
Thanks for your interest in what seems to be a big problem for only a few of us Civ'ers. :crazyeye: There is some confusion to my original post. KB925902 is the Microsoft Security Update that patched the .ANI security vulnerability that's been a problem. This created another problem for those using RealTek which Microsoft hotfixed with KB935448. I believe this is correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Now, in addition to the RealTek problem, if I have these updates installed, all my CIVIII discs won't load. I worked with the problem and figured out it was the original Update KB925902. I only installed this update and my game discs wouldn't load so I did the hotfix for RealTek which solved the RealTek problem but my game disks still didn't load. I've contacted both Microsoft and my computer manufacturer who say it's the other vendors fault. :wallbash: So I'm awaiting some resolution from some corner of the known universe. SB644
