This is one of my favorite movies, but unfortunately I don't know much about the man himself. Anyone have any information about Lawrence's actual exploits (other than taking Aquaba), capture by the Turks, activities after 1918, etc.?

One of the movie's central themes is Lawrence's gradual descent into madness. Is this in the movie for cinematic reasons, or do we have actual evidence of his mental state?

Just wondering.

I only know he died in a motorbike accident, after he returned to England. And he wrote a book, called the Seven Pillars of Wisdom or something like that.

He used to show up at Churchills house (chartwell)
on his motorcycle, dressed like an Arab
and stayed for dinner.

I think he was mad the whole time, if you ask me :D
The movie makes his mental state quite clear, but is there any evidence from his contemporaries that he really was mentally ill? :crazyeye:

As we know, the way historical figures are portrayed in movies is very seldom accurate.

He wrote an acount of his activities in WW1, title Revolt in the Desert, which is the pricipal source for the movie.

Thanks, guys, I'll try to find these books somewhere...
