Leader Crash

When running Civ5 (with or with out mods), attempting to contact NPC LEaders will often cause the game to freeze. If I wait, it will eventually crash, the same if I swith screens. NPC's can always contact me, though.

If the issue is mainly the leaders, then you should turn down their graphical settings.

I used to have trouble with game crashes during diplomacy (usually happened when I had too many different leaders contacted during one game session). What helped me was switch from Full-Screen to window-mode - no more leader crashes at all. This is a bit annoying, but it worked for me.
(I still am unable to play anything larger than standard because of the freeze-bug, but that is another issue)
