I heard someone on some site mention leaders like Joan of Arc and Lenin in Civ3 (for the French and Russians). First I heard of these two in Civ. What I was wondering is is there a list of Civ3 leaders somewhere on the net, and how can I get to it? I'd like to find out who the leaders are. For now, I know for sure that:

Elizabeth is for the English
Hiawatha(?) is for the Iroquois
Mao is for the Chinese
Lincoln is for the Americans
Gandhi is for the Indians

because I've seen their pictures. But who is the other Asian-looking leader (other than Mao) who appears sometimes (usually wearing a hat)? Who is the other old white woman who appears (other than Queen Elizabeth) in the civ3.com "features" page? Who are the leaders of the other civs?

I don't know of any complete list. I guess we just have to wait till FIRAXIS tells us.

The Russian leader is Catherine the Great (the old white woman) not Lenin. The asian-looking leader is probably the Japanese leader, but I don't know his name.

Alexander the Great is the Greek leader,
Cleopatra is the Eqyptian leader, and Ceasar is the Roman leader (I'm not completely shure about Ceasar, though).

That's all I know...

Do you mean the political leaders for the entire country, or are you talking about the military leaders you can gather for building armies?

Yeah, "Great Leader" and political leader are different. Joan of Arc is more likely a "Great Leader" who can group armies. So is Lenin, I guess.

I meant the big political leaders. I guess we really can't do anything but guess about the "great people" until the game comes out.

And if Joan of Arc is only a "great person" and not the political leader of France, then who is that woman resembling Joan of Arc who appears on several screenshots of diplomacy screens (like the one at civ3.com features).

aren't you, us, the players, the political leaders that controls everything? what does it matter about their names anyway.

You may be prefer to remain nameless, but since I am not alone on the planet, it becomes quite important that I be able to differentiate opponent civs. Besides, it could add a twinge of awe to be able to control important historical figures. I just hope that I can change their names.

As far as I can tell, the civ leaders are:

Queen Elizabeth of Britain
King Montezuma of the Aztec Empire
Pharaoh Cleopatra of the Egypt
King Hammurabi of Babylon
?? Alexander of the Greeks
Czar ??? the Great of Russia
Emperor Bismarck von ??? of Germany
Emperor ??? ??? ??? of the Japanese
and the worst choice
Chairman Mao Tse Tung of China-- China is scientific and industrious, but obviously he was not the Chinese leader that spurred scientific or industrial advancement.
