Which AI...from game to game...do you find the hardest to trust overall? Not necessarily the civ you find to be the toughest, but the civ that will drive some saltpeter up your pooper the minute you doze off for 2 turns?

I second the Zulu. Don't ever get too buddy-buddy with him or you might not live to regret it.

The Zulu. I always try to stamp them out if they are on the same continent as me. They're a bunch of bloody troublemakers!

Aztecs!
They are a bunch of backstabbing bastards!
In my last game they joined up with everyone and helped eliminating the russians. 4 turns later they declared war on me and tried to take my recently aquired russian cities. Their Cavalary died in numbers while attacking my fortified modern Armors
well, that triggered the "Pact-Network" and so all those who just killed the russians now turned against the Aztecs :goodjob:

Me, I'll never trust anyone who can reload/save(even if he doesn't use it). And most backstabbing(at least meanest) has been committed by me.

Maid'De Orlean is a funny girl...She smiles a lot and all of the sudden her and brother Mao rampage on my peaceful cultural backside...

how about the most friendly nations? my vote goes towards the english and indians. oh and btw, Shakka is a bastard

The French, hehe. In every one of my games they've been in they have backstabbed me. It appears it is just me, but after this kept happening I at first thought it was supposed to be some joke. :D

I HATE the Zulus! I won't go into the details of how they screwed me over, but in my last game they "magically" expanded so quickly that I only had room for about six cities. When I tried to plant another one near some coal, they declared war on me and swiped two cities (Which thankfully reverted back to me, although minus their improvements) while razing two more. I didn't pay them back directly, mostly cuz I didn't have enough production or resources to forge a millitary conquest, but I got the other civs to do that. I asked them all to declare war on the Zulus, and for the rest of the game, the other civs would repeatedly bombard him and his cities. When the U.N. vote came up, the only one who voted for Shaka was himself. I voted for myself, but everyone else voted for Hiawatha. Grrr....

Indians! When I play the Babylonians - the Indians seem to really hate them. Granted I've only played twice so far - but the Indians are in my face all game! And I thought Ghandi was a pacifist!

Aztecs are stupid and ignorant and crazy and... I was playing the Egyptians, I was having a great culture and all my cities were size 12 (because I didn't have sanitation yet), and I was working on 5 wonders, and the aztecs were flowing through my territory to their size 3 and 4 cities. I have asked them to stop doing this, and they declared war!!! No problemo, but I am really pissed off, and I will wipe them out. They are stupid and crazy, because all my units take 2, maximum 3 turns to produce in my cities, and they only have their pathetic jaguar warriors. I hardly wait to beat them up, although I love more to develop cities and land improvements instead of making war.
Egypt rules!:egypt:

Me...I've got serious envy problems and I try to take advantage of poor Elizabeth...

It being my first game and it being Monarch difficulty level the war was a long and harsh one with me losing 3 cities before I signed a humiliating peace treaty in which I lost another city...surviving isn't a problem, winning is!

Arrogance gets me into trouble -though I'm in with a good chance still- on Monarch difficulty as the Romans on Earth! Why couldn't I have just given Bismark my world map and 4 gold coin? OH THE HUMANITY!

As for Ghandi!

In the video with LE civ3 it says that personalities start as default but can under-go change in the game...they percifically mention Ghandi as perhaps being subject to a personality change to an less than pacific dude...

In civ I & II Ghandi would sneak attack when I least expected it (didn't help him much :D ).

Zulus! Oh man, I had a mutual protection agreement with them and on the very next turn I got one of my cities burn to ashes from them! Shaka, I won't forget this!

The worst civs to trust are the Zulus and Germans as their aggression levels are the highest in the game. I must add that through playing the games many times, whichever civ given the time to build up the military will betray you. (I was betrayed by the Indians, yes, those peace-loving fellas!)

The best to counter this betrayal is to make your next door neighbour your 'best friend'. Butter up to him/her and make sure their units never enter your territory without right of passage. Otherwise start cranking up your production for military units and prepare for war.

Best civs to have mutual protection pact with: Indians, French or Chinese. Always remember: don't trust any civ!

I voted for the Zulu but I've played against the Iroquois 3 times and 3 times they've attacked me when they were otherwise "polite".

The GERMANS!!! Those evil guys attack me so much, I have to take them out early in the game
