Happy Holidays!

This lets play was inspired by God of Kings' comment on my last Deity Let's Play as Egypt. I thought it was a brilliant idea to give it a go as Poland since the release of the new DLC! As an added bonus, Poland seems to be particularly well suited for Religion, which I'm excited for because I haven't ever tried a religious victory before on any difficulty setting, so it should be an excellent try for victory on Deity here (or an embarrassing defeat on camera)!

If you'd like to play along with our map settings:
Difficulty: Deity
Map type: Fractal
Temperature: Cold
Rainfall: Wet
All other settings Standard
Game Random Seed: 630447194
Map Random Seed: 630447193
DLC: Viking & Poland DLC packs (You'll need Poland DLC for sure, but maybe won't need Viking DLC)
Mods: None.

Will we get a religion with the heavy religious focus of the Deity AI? Or will our focus on early religion result in losing out on both religion and necessary early game infrastructure to catch up?

Alright, here are some pronunciation tips for Polish:

Read here first: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_orthography

The native pronunciation for Wroclaw for example sounds close to "vroh-tswahf"

The start of this Let's Play by @HadrianLP has another Polish pronunciation guide:

One more thing: Warsaw isn't the native Polish name; it's Warszawa (closely pronounced "var-sha-va"). Interestingly enough, Warsaw and Wroclaw have similar etymologies, despite being distinctly different Polish cities.

Your post sparked off an interesting thought thread for me, which I cover in the beginning of the next video, GOK!

"Things never go well for Poland when Russia and Germany are in cahoots."

@Francis Xavier

I recommend that you should establish a canal city linking the sea to the southeast with the sea to the northeast. You can get both tiles of the Great Barrier Reef as well. However, you would lose out on the cattle (though it is within range of Buenos Aires).

One thing I've noticed in my games - and this game illustrates it well - there isn't much point in building builders until you have enough military to drive off the barbs. Around turn 17 you realized that you had a serious barb problem. If you switch to a slinger or warrior right then they would be ready to drive off the barbs at turn 23 or so - giving your starting warrior a better chance to survive. Notice also that the farm you built gets pillaged so you have to spend a second builder-charge on it. While you first builder spends a lot of time not building - just hiding out in your city.

Repairing improvements doesn't use up building charges.
