No offense Smart: MV, try running back onto that sword/settler pump there, it seems it lost its timing.

Real nice, trades, Beijing and all. Btw, why would the chop go to Tsingtao? Is not Beijing built first and at equal distance? Is Tsingtao currently working the tile, affecting the chop? I'd like to go to sleep a tad less dumb tonight ;)
The chop goes to the city first in the NE, E, ..., N, NNE, 2NE, ..., NNW rotation. I remember Dianthus had a nice picture about this, and I had an ugly picture. I don't know where to find Dianthus', so here's mine.

Besides the fact that thoust isn't a word (as far as I know), the context makes it seem you should have used the first person there rather than the second person (unless you really meant "you shall take your save").

Thanks a lot Tim :hatsoff:

Really good progress there, team :)
It really warms my heart to see folks haven't forgotten ole good civIII

I'll try to play this evening, assuming there will be vacancy ;)

It is not "got it" yet.

The timing thing is to produce a swordsman on size 5, a settler on size 6 and that each time it is on growth - such that you never go back down to size 4, which is was after that last settler you spun out. Often, that kind of "settler factory" (sorry if you were already familiar) also works on one size lower (4-5 here), but you lose gold doing so because of the total headcount.

Preturn

Set lux to 10% instead of 20%. Everybody's still happy.
Set research to 60% (we lose some money, but get lit in 10 turns instead of 14)
Otherwise everyhing's cool.

Hit enter.

1225 BC (1)

Canton worker-->settler
Iros our closest neighbour, not good.
War is inevitable soon :evil:
Looks like India gets its cities razed. Hmmm....

1200 BC (2)

1175 BC (3)

Shanghai cat-->sword
Beijing grows to size 5 --> lux 20%

IT

Haiavatha demands 30 gold. I give in.
We'll pay him back later.
Zulus demand to take out our scout-warrior.We say sure.

1150 BC (4)

Beijing sword-->settler
Nanking sword-->sword
Hangchow is built-->walls

I look at the map and think we'll have to attack Haiavatha soon.
They have many tundra cities. Their cities are stretched. They could be an easy target.
They have great piece of land. If we wait too long, they will be very powerful

1125 BC (5)

1100 BC (6)

Shanghai sword-->sword
Chengdu rax-->cat

IT

Ottomans finish Oracle

1075 BC (7)

1050 BC (8)

Beijing settler-->sword
Canton settler-->sword
Xinjan rax-->worker

Lit in one turn --> research 20%

IT

Hittites finish Pyramids
Carthage finish Lighthouse

1025 BC (9)

Sell lit to Shaka for CoL and 85 gold
Lit and CoL goes to India for Construction and 13 gold
I could get another ~80 gol for lit, but it seems too cheap.
Better wait. In the worst case we lose 80 gold.
Start Republic at 50%
Tsingtao granary-->worker

1000 BC (10)

Nanking sword-->sword

EDIT: I think it would be much better to settle spot 3 two tiles SW(close to Oil Springs) and spot 4 one tile SE on
the hill. It will make our defense more mobile.

SAVE

I'm unsure about what you mean about the dots so I'll wait a second before playing.
Nevermind, got it, and agreed - we won't need that many boats will we? Well, we still have 2 coastal cities on the eastern shore :lol:

Btw, now should be a good time to fix our minds on what VC we want to go after. I agree on preparing to attack the Iroquois, but then should we set our minds on staying big brutes or are we good to go for a spaceship?

Pre-Turn: Buy 2 workers for 210 gold from gandhi
Hangchow changed from walls to catapults - unless you plan on declaring to the vikings anytime soon.
Ottos are building TGL

T1.
Shanghai Swordsman-Worker
Found Tientsin, works on a catapult

IT: Osman asks 22 gold, bluff called.

T2.
Beijing Sword - settler
Incense connected, cannot lower lux though.
Tatung founded on catapult

T3.
A lot of units popped in

T4.
Zulus have the Republic

IT: Iroquois found Ganogeh on that hill up north.

T5.
Currency and Monarchy are out.
We're a few roads away from being war-ready.

T8.
Road done through to the Iroquois

T9.
Last turns were uneventful, everyone starting every wonder still available. It looks like Osman took Feudalism free because he's rich now.

I leave you on turn 9 because war is ready and I don't want to start it for just a turn. Just take 11 :)
We have around 8 swords, 4 cats, 1 archer, 1 spear, 1 settler ready to go and grab those furs.

Leha1-1.jpg

I must run to work.
Just small comment on VC. Let's see how our war with Iroquois is going.
If we are lucky with MGLs, armies and such and manage to grab good piece of territory without provoking dogpile, we can rest then and go warmongering.

Pre-turn

War was declared!
Capture worker
IT

Notes
  • Build settlers, and found towns using dotmap
  • We have many elite troops. We have a high chance to get leader
  • After settling, we should build 2-3 stacks of swordsmans/catapults, and finish destroying Iroqous.

Bye bye good rep :D

Another thing - switching to anarchy during war is bad idea, we'll need reinforcements. I started research of Republic for trade purpose only. Republic is not good for warmongering. After riots end we must switch to Monarchy. I can't check save now, so I don'd know if monarchy is available for trade.

Otherwise, very good progress Smart. :) Bad rep or good rep, we'll take what we need by the sword.

Bye bye good rep
Leha, rep is good ;)
I first declare war, then move troops to their territory.

War was ended, read again:
"Make peace with Iroqous, got Currency and 10 gold. We are in Middle Ages!"
It isn't AW game, so i think Republic is better. We can go into short wars, like my. In just 7 turns i took 5 towns. War weatness wouldn't come ;)
