So I don't want to be the guy that updates to Lion and then finds Civ not working.. so who's testing it for me?

Ryan, is Civ4 working under Lion?

It won't? We've tested both DNF and Civ V on Steam on Lion, and haven't had any problems yet.

If you are having problems, though, let me know!

"application not responding". I've rebooted. I've quit every other application. I get the same error. :(

Help :help:

Is the "Application Not Responding" from Steam, or Civ? If it's Steam, I can't help. If it's Civ, I probably can't help either, but it's something I can investigate.

I know some versions of Civ 4 will work on Lion. I haven't personally tried all of them. Which version are you wondering about (expansion, disc, Steam, etc)?

Edit: I've tried the Civ 4, Warlords, and BTS versions from the disc, and had no problem.

Steam is the culprit. And getting to talk to the Valve folks is so obfuscating. I can do my banking on the internet with far less of the ridiculous security they seem to be crazy about.

I have a copy of the Campaign edition Civ5, so I don't tend to use Steam on my Mac, but I've tried running it. (I have the developer GM copy of Lion) .....

Steam doesn't crash on my Lion system, but it fails to log me in. The Console log shows "SteamLogin() success" and then "SteamID: <long number>, universe Public". So it looks as if the login was successful, but it just brings back the ID/password dialog again.

I can, and did, change the password in the Lion login screen in case that was a problem. I can still log in on my Snow Leopard and Windows systems using the new password. The Lion system can even see that I'm logged in elsewhere, and tell me to quit on the other system. If I do, it then goes round the same login loop again.

I guess I might as well re-install Steam. But will I have to re-dl all my games and all my DLC? Will my achievements and other sundry be gone in the great bit bucket in the sky?

I did have to retype my steam login information after upgrading, but after that, it worked fine. I tested out Civ V (sorry, I don't have IV installed anymore) and it ran fine with no discernable change in performance.

Your achievements are in the cloud, not tied to any one installation.

Loaded a saved Civ 5 game (using Steam) after upgrading to Lion. Worked fine. No performance drop noticed.
