[GS] Livestreamer Previews Discussion Thread

Gives mountains more uses, but it will be an interesting decision to national park them or plop down ski resorts.

That sounds realistic. And as with real life, if tourism is your objective, I'm guessing Ski Resorts win. I've lost track of the time zone, but it's either too early or too late for my brain to do the math on this. Sure seems, though, like Ski Resorts have made the entire National Parks mechanic redundant.

SKI RESORT

Unlocks the ability to build a ski resort.

Gives a tourism value equal to the Appeal of the tile. Amenities +1. Can only be built on a mountain. Can not be adjacent to another ski resort. Deletion or exploitation impossible.

Unstated is what type of mountains these can go on. I'm assuming Desert Mountains will be a no go, since deserts in civ are depicted exclusively as hot deserts.

Will be fun to place a Ski Hill adjacent to a Seaside Resort.

Because you can't place Ski Resorts side by side, you don't get as much tourism from the same group of tiles that you could with a National Park.

Place Parks first. Place Ski Resorts in between and in spaces that National Parks can't work.

I have seen snow on desert mountains (I live in a desert) but not near enough to run a resort. I hope civ 6 lets desert mountains get ski resorts as desert are already weak, but realistically it shouldn't happen.

I'm guessing builders need to be adjacent to the mountain to build a ski resort like building the Inca's "tunnel." In rare cases, a national park could let players group inaccessible mountains.

I see Ski resorts picking up lone mountains spotted around developed cities with districts. HSs and TSs + Machu Picchu's bonus + ski resorts could be quite lucrative tourism.

But Environmentalism gives +50% Tourism.

The computers nerf is the main thing I saw so far that made the Cultural Victory takes longer. The other thing is some world congress resolutions that might hold back a player but I don't think it will have a big impact. If the nerf is technically only 25% since 50% was actually transferred to a Civic, that means my prediction is true: Rock Bands will be born obsolete, you gonna win a cultural way before you even dream of using one. I like the stuff they added to cultural but let's face it, none of this stuff solve the issues cultural have, it make it worse. They keep adding more sources of tourism when what cultural victory really needs is a better defense against tourism, preferably stuff that the AI know how to use.

I like the idea of splitting the bonus between both trees but they need to nerf that thing to the ground, like each bonus is only 10% or less.

I think Rock Bands are the GDR of culture. You should be able to finish off your victory before you need them, but if you happen to be dealing with a stubborn rival or just want to make those last few turns go quickly, they will suit your purpose in a fun way.

In Quill18's build, Archaeological Sites are popping up under districts and he is able to collect the Artifacts. Bug or new feature?
Hopefully a new feature!

Good buff for National Parks, which I’m guessing in needed so they’re competitive with Rock Bands. Build a National Park in the mountains, then use Ski Resorts to really push the tourism. Also maybe useful without National Parks just to boost Amenities in large cities.

Another good add. Like it.

Forgot to note that this was altered from an economic policy card to a military one at Conservation.

God grief Germany have done well out of GS. IZs are more useful overall, plus you double your adjacency with Facotories (or maybe powerplants), and now you can use your military card slot to boost resources. Oh yeah, and Pikeys are getting buffed. Just... so awesome.

Like it. A lot.

Not sure if this was posted already... America's changes could be seen at 2:07

Worded: "+1 diplomatic favor per turn for each wildcard slot in their government."

We already knew how they where changed, but it helps to see how it's worded in game.

Another good change. America suddenly look way more interesting, particularly with the buff to National Parks via Ski Resorts. America will also be really tank with Tier 4 Governments ... they might be able to just buy a Diplomatic Victory outright. Awesome.

Yeah very good change. I always thought America was a bit meh in Civ 6.

And good to see the IZ getting boosted. I never built them before, sometimes not even for a science victory.

Neither. I've seen this with Rise and Fall, although fairly rare. Because usually your improvements reduce the chances of artifacts appearing. When it happens I always use the map pins to mark the spot, or I'll never find it again. I've seen it at least 5 times in my games.

Hard to say what they consider a desert mountain. We have a ski resort at Lee canyon at Mt. Charleston right next to my city, which lies in the Mojave desert. Not sure I would classify Mt. Charleston as a desert mountain, because it has pine trees. I've hiked to the top, it's fairly high up and 16 miles round trip A desert mountain may be more like red rock canyon/ Bridge mountain or Frenchman mountain on our East side of the valley.

That make sense but at the same time the main reason they are changing the science and cultural victory is to take into account the addition of another era and the fact the game is supposed to take longer. The science victory changes achieve that, the cultural changes works against that. So far science and diplomacy are the only victories where I'll get to that future era. Religious could take longer if they fix the AI never using Inquisitors (last time I saw one was in the base game), Domination could take longer if the AI show a bit more resistance.

Rock Bands unlock at the beginning of the Atomic era; not exactly super late game. If CVs are supposed to take longer now then presumably they'll be rather necessary to employ en masse.
