[GS] Livestreamer Previews Discussion Thread

I'm loving Potato's livestream at the moment. It's just a total wreck. Barbarian hordes on two sides, one of which is marching on his capital. The Ottomans and a CS on another side. Gets a city razed and tornadoes spawn pillaging tiles of one of this better cities. Good to know these things happen to other people too
He finishes war with Suleiman barely getting anything out of peace, his far eastern city is now having loyalty problems since the city-state razed the closest city to it. then the spanish attack him from the far west and instantly take one of his cities.. This is so brutal lol.

Time for a dark age  And a flood :mischief:
Is he playing deity?
Yes. He said he feels deity has become a lot harder in the new expansion.

But maybe that's just a matter of inexperience with the expansion.

I had a game where Qin wouldn't stop declaring war on me, but every time he did my city-state allies would raze one or two of his cities. He ended up with nothing left but his capital. It was beautiful.

Disappointed that's there's no changes to the Dutch. This expansion is right up their alley. Also, Wilma's bonus is still boring and grossly underpowered. That civ needs an alt leader.

I'm 100% behind you on this. I find Wilhelmina's LA to be dreadfully dull and I'd love to get a second Dutch leader who really reflects their trade empire at its peak.

Weirdly enough it's called Devils Tower in the German version.

Strange, because Quill seems to be doing fairly well in his stream (except his lack of science is worrying). I watched up til his yesterdays streams, nothing from from today.

So many streams, so little time. Watching Firaxis stream, Emperor Eleanor/England was doing quite well. So I would say on pangaea/continents ai could indeed be stronger, but still weak on archipelago. And of course Eleanor couldn't defend against a Hungarian onslaught with levied troops. But she still put up a fight.

I think Potato is struggling because was stuck in a routine of playing the same old style;
settling on luxuries and spamming Mangnus chop overflow exploits for the win.

He hasn't got a clue how to adapt and play to the strengths of different Civs.

Pretty much all the streamers are playing like a bunch of donkeys.

You can't really expect much else, almost everyone streaming right now isn't a regular Civ streamer or hasn't even touched the series ever.

It's actually insufferable for me, I don't know, I keep seeing how inferior a lot of people tend to play wthen they do voice overs I wonder if that's linked.
I've heard a lot of Let's Players say that it's much harder to play and make entertaining dialogue at the same time, and that it's a lot easier to overlook things because you're focusing on talking, so that's probably why.

I know we already know what Mt. Vesuvius does. But if you want to see it in action, it's in the Giantwaffle livestream from earlier today. Being quite active and spewing all kinds of tile yields on the surrounding tiles.

So Denmark and Georgia are still rubbish, Egypt might be ok depending on flooding, and the rest are basically unchanged. Pretty disappointing.

I get it: they can't talk and play Civ at the same time . . .
