LK Planning Thread

What about a game in which every city must be settled on a resource (inc. Capital). It does seem you want a less gamey variant though.

This one really doesn't change much in game play, and that is the goal with a variant. LK141 with just 1 natural worker changes game play as it forces early wars in order to have a chance. We've taken a lot of diplomatic hits already will probably take more.
 
Maybe with Joao something like multiple continents and high sea level map. Must win by domination but cannot have more than 8-12 cities so need to establish lots of large colonies.

Unfortunately, the current patch broke several things with colonies. The LK game as the Dutch suddenly has motherland whiners in former Zulu cities. The Zulu were eliminated, but the first colony took over the Zulu culture.
I am not willing to run Bhuric's (sp?) unofficial patch, as that invalidates RB events.

You may not be able to run Bhruic's patch. What about HoF 3.13.001? (which is official and contains Bhruic's patch). You can run the whole game as a mod without affecting your main game installation.
 
Without Bhruic's patch you can't play a colonial domination game.
I've tested this more than once.
As soon as you create more than 1 colony you'll be suddenly at war with your first colony.

Can you supply a link to this? If it is a mod, then I won't trah my install and possibly void my RB games. All those games mentioned in my signature are all the RB events I played in and finished. I have more in the queue.

The HOF Mod v.3.13.001 is a self-extracting mod that locates it in your mod folder. The only way to gain any benefit from the mod is if you load the mod, just the same as any other mod that came with the game. The HOF Mod uses many of Bhruic's fixes and some of our own, but we make sure it stays true to the unmodified game as possible.

The HOF Mod is mandatory in both the HOF competitions and the GOTM games. If you have questions regarding it, I'd be happy to answer them. BTW, the HOF mod was create by the HOF Staff and GOTM Staff.
 
I downloaded Hof Mod from BOTM downloads thread. There's loads of info about the various HoF patches in the HoF sub-forum of course.

I will check out the HoF mod tonight. There are limits what I can do from work. Installing computer games is a major no.
 
Have a few ideas after some time of thinking and looking through some old threads:

1: Environmentalist - can't chop any vegitation. (ie forests/jungle)
2: Automated Capital - Capital is completely automated. Which means that you put on city govoner and you let the ai choose what your next build is. That means your gonna have to wait for the ai to choose a settler to get a second city!
3: Automated cities - All Cities are automated like as in the previous one.
4: Razed city Domination - You must Raze every city you capture, (including barbs) but you must also win by domination. (which means you have to resettle every city)
5: Religious Dominition - You must Found a religion(or capture) and spread it to 75% of the world to win.

That sounds interesting - I've got to say I've never automated city production. I wonder how good the governor is? I guess it just chooses whatever is recommended in the list when something is finished, anyway, which usually isn't too bad, although it'd be hard to gear up for war or perhaps you'd be awash with wonders?
 
Check out Sand's 'The Computer Knows Best' for an all automated game.
 
it's on the second page :p But sands game is completely automated, workers, cities, research, you even have to settle cities on the blue dots. The Variant i suggested is just automated cities.

Edit: Actually Sands game is just that you have to pick the unit/building that the computer "recommends" you. While in this case, it's completely automated.
 
LK142 start up -

Difficulty = monarch, map =possibly medium and small, standard size world, civ =Portugal, speed = Epic
This will complete all the civs are least once. :)

Let see if there is enough interest to start this one.

Variant: The colonial Portuguese.
We must win by domination mainly with colonies.

Due to the bug with colonies, HOF for BTS is mandatory.
Previous BTS win at monarchy required.
Remember the use of the BUG mod is prohibited due to its destruction of the in game log
 
The map archipelago with archipelago in the island type looks perfect for this but it would require late war or fixing AI starting positions.

Is there a signup in there somewhere, or is this purely a comment? I don't plan to work on the finalizing the details until I can confirm 5 people are interested.
