That was the Ethiopian game, with the rainforest map (LK133). See my signature below. Yes, it was a good game.

Went back to the Ethiopan game (LK133): rainforest mean's also lots of food. Does that mean lots of specialist? SE-game? Would be very interesting for me, since I'm mostly a hammer-guy. Although I tried to remedy that with some cottage-heavy games lately.

That I can understand. Even with a plan to try all the map types, it took a *long* time for the LK series to get through them. This ignores all of the custom maps by civ fans - if there are still out there - frelling hacker

The LK series is going on hiatus. I am not sure how long.
I am not having fun at this time. More then once recently had my hands shaking from stress overload, and no game is worth this.

LK141 has been very frustrating with all the delays.
LK142 is an embarrassment with the variant design failure.
LK143 is a major source of frustration, as I totally disagree with the hyper-expansion plan of the other players. I am likely wrong, but that is irrelevant. It is ruining the fun for me.

I will finish the current games, and then the hold starts.

Hiatus update:

I still don't fully understand why I am having such problems being a good SG host recently. However, I have realized where at least part of the problem lies. I have a demonically inspired work project right now that is taking a major toll on me. Therefore, the hiatus will last until at least August 2008 when that project may end.

That's a looooong time, almost time for civ5 or AC2.

It will give you time to overthink the civ4 SG problems.
Some new ideas are needed, maybe less players, more freedom...

LKendter - just a heads up that v2.21 of BUG has been released. This version shouldn't have the 'open in-game log in vanilla BtS and crash to desktop' issue. I say 'shouldn't' as it is a little hard to test the absence of something. Hopefully some games will start with v2.21 shortly and we can test the in-game log with vanilla BtS.

I see that the LK series is taking a holiday - good luck and hopefully the Civ batteries will be re-energized.

Standard LK house rules:
1) Worker automation is prohibited.

2) Any go to order after the end of your turn should be explained in your report.

3) Please complete your turn. At most the next player should have one unmoved unit such as a settler where you are unsure of its direction. The game should be sitting ready to hit end of turn with very little left to move.

4) Don't edit your game results into a previous post. This can make it appear as if you didn't move.

5) The use of any auto-logger is prohibited for the body of your report.

6) SGs are about cooperative team play. If you disagree with other player's ideas, then please talk about it before playing.

7) Putting GP asleep is prohibited. Even if you are saving him for a GA leave him awake and hit the space bar. Please try to use the GP ASAP and don't hold him for the end of your turn set.

8) Due to the fact that it destroys the in game log, the use of the BUG mod is *prohibited*.
Any turn played with the BUG mod is voided. The player will be removed from the game.
I realize rule 8 is extreme, but I am burned out on dealing with having a CTD just because I looked at the log.

9) I reserve the right to exclude a player from signing up at my discretion.

The LK series is still mostly on hold. My extreme tedium assignment is still going. Its only good feature is I am surviving the 2008 recession in the USA.


I've realized at least part the cause of my burnout - the succession game of the month format. The competitive stress of that format is too much. I know I will never play another game in this format.

This is a one-shot idea that will be very low stress to run since game commentary is prohibited.

LK144 - A picture is worth 1,000 words.

Difficulty = monarch, map = fractal, standard size world, civ = random, speed = Epic

Variant: You are prohibited from having a report. You may not include a single word in your report except for roster status.

You may post up 5 basic pictures per round. The pictures can't have text added, any mark ups added (arrows, etc), or be a combination picture.

We need at least 1% growth just to cover population growth. The last two quarters failed to do that. That ignores that the govt. figures are questionable at best.

I'd like to sign up for the gross LK event. I was going to just leave a picture, but I couldn't find a suitable one. What are the turn lengths? I am getting use to playing to a logical break rather than a fixed number of turns.

In this game it will be a fixed round length. I haven't decided what that is yet. The LK series may go to logical break in the future, but this oddball works best with fixed length rounds.
