LK Planning Thread

The below vote will determine the path for LK140 forward.
I would like to see votes what people want to play in the LK series:
1) Monarch variants
2) Emperor
3) Mix with emphasis on monarch variants

I hope to start LK140 late Sunday or Monday. I would like to get a few more votes by then.

I vote for 3, as I'd like to see the LK series venture into Emperor, but variants are always fun too.

That is correct - that is very much planned. There is no way I want to go up two levels. I consider variants up 1 level.

As for emperor not being tough enough - I've *never* played it. :eek:

Difficulty = emperor, map = TBD, standard size world, civ = Maya, Portugal, or Sumerian Empire, speed = Epic

Once I have 5 people signed up we can decide which of the three civs I haven't played will be the best choice for my FIRST emperor attempt.
We can also talk about map preferences.

i'd like to sign up. Have i beaten Emperor before? Yes (although just barely(Charlemagne almost won space but i beat him by 3 turn via diplomacy). I am however playing the MLG 06 Emperor Spacemen game, and i have to admit, the AI expands fast! Just for this reason, i think a good map would be contenants (less civs in our contenant) and Joao, for his traits. His UU and UB are good for water maps also. Also i think a good strategy is a heavy REX, as we probably won't get alot of cities otherwise.

(please note that i won't be able to play anytime from January 15, to January 17 or 18).
 
Finally an emperor SG :high5: Sign me up, please. And yes, I have beaten emperor in my off-line games.

Like many Civ players, I played Vanilla first, then Warlords, than BtS. Unlike some of them, I did not allow the fact that I found Warlords Emperor difficulty a challenge to stop me from attempting it in BtS. I have found that for my personal play style, BtS Emperor is as much as a level easier than Warlords.

Also, Swiss has beaten Emperor.

LK, not a signup (too much on the plate). But I'd like to see what LK140 would do with the Sumerians and vultures... (anticipating an early rush).

Regarding the monarch variants, wasn't there one about one city per great wonder under your control...?

Emperor beaten in BTS : Yes, (I found the time and the will to go all the way to SS victory in one of my almost finish Emperor games with relatively standard options).
