LK Planning thread

I wouldn't say I was comfortable with the start, but the terrain was so good that I wouldn't want to give it up unless hope was lost. I see ways we can survive, and more importantly, someone else may it play better than me.

At this point this discussion belongs in the LK106 thread. I started it this morning.

I am running out of ideas, as I only want to play AW at this point. I can't deal with more destroyed reps and defiance.

One thing left is to try another NO army AWE. Is there any interest?

You could try the oposite too.. army only AW.. that is no normal units are allowed inside enemy borders (only neutral and your own territory)

Actually, that is what happens in many AI games. Once you get two or three armies you just go on a city razing rampage. I will pass on this variation.

I tried to think of some.

AW on an archipelago map with the 7 seafaring civs another. demigod or deity.

AWM + 100k on pangaea. SCI or REL civ.

AWE + space, continents.

I though of space, but it would be the same as typical AW. Nothing changes in the early game. Wipe out all the civs but one city, and spaces is a give me.

Yeah, that's true. I was thinking about the games when you are behind in tech and have to steal and sabotage your way up to complete the spaceship first. I imagine this situation is hard to engineer to happen in the game settings though, unless it was demigod?

last time I was lurking the AWE game without armies, I would like to play such a variant, pangaea or continents?

okay, 4 more:

AWM Sengoku scenario

AWM Middle Ages scenario

AWR or AWM, tiny or small map with 8-16 rivals

AWE Regicide

It would be Pangaea.
Interested in AWE, no armies:

This would be a repeat of GR7 that I am in.

I think AWDG no armies, pillaging, random civ could be done.

That is to rough for my tastes.

I think LK is overestimating himself by playing without armies.

I did take a look at LK106-1350AD and I was very disappointed
by the AI performance.According to my 2 Dutch AWE games at
least 1 AI entered the Modern Times around 1540 AD.
LK106 didn't have any Scientific civs, play with 7 of them and
you'll be playing a total different game.
Also try to play without choke points.
Armies are need to get rid of the enemies modern units.
It makes a lot difference if a single cavalry or a cavalry army
tries to kill mechanized armor. The losses will be sky high at the end.

AWE varies greatly from relatively easy to impossible based on the initial start. If one didn't play AWE because one may get a start that you might lose, then you would never play AWE.

If I am not mistaken, the reason Lee plays a number of starting turns is precisely for the reason of pruning out the "impossible to win" scenarios.

I am definitely interested in playing another army-less AW game. I will sign up for it. The last one was one of the closest wins I have played in. My schedule is a bit full, but I would make room for that variant.

I had multiple false starts with AW. I already was found by another civ with one initial warrior and outright lost. Try getting squeezed by Germany and Persia with starting spearman. By the time I had any archers the empire was pillaged to death.

Of course, some very nasty games still slip through due to the nature of AW. LK106 almost collapsed. The previous LK series AW without armies game had the UN under construction by the AI when the win happened. I think you recall how close GR6 was!

Interested in AWE, no armies:
LKendter
ThERat
Greebley

If at least one more is interested, I will start LK108.
