LK147 - world map, China

Greebley / Todd
The first of you to post when you can actually play can have it.

Greebley still needs a lot of time to finish Rat45. Those turns were also huge.

I have gotten to around 1665. We own much of South America.

We are at 64% land so South America should just about enough (3 Argentinian cities remain). However we are at 62% population. Cities are MM'ed for food to grow, but we may not have enough when we have the last 3 cities. It used to be much worse - when we owned 59% land we had only 53% of the population, but the MM'ing and capture of large cities has helped alot.

In any case I think this will be one of the rare games where we will have 66% land but not population. I am unsure I want to fight Iroquois as they have a lot of bombers and boats and their large cities are far away.

In any case I will continue to play towards 10 in the hope I can win by then.

If I am really close by 10 I might also just finish up - especially if its just sitting around waiting for towns to grow a bit more. Wanted to check though. I can pass it on if we want.

I know I don't want it back - I'm trying to get Indonesia ready for LK148. Had an issue with name wrapping, and trying again.
Not sure when Todd can pick it up.

Sounds like we may want to rush aqueducts in Africa. If we get a market, and fire the specialists I am sure those cities can grow fast.

Yes, I agree not enough pop is odd. The Iroquious must have some really large cities.

How about the Aztecs? IIRC they are still alive and should be a lot easier if we have to fight one more civ.

We have a lot of workers; we should add them back in to our towns to get our population up.

CKS beat me to it. I would expect merging workers should do it, unless there is something in Conquests that prevents that that I don't remember (most of my playing was doine in the Vanilla and PTW era).

If I'm not expected to get at least 3 "action" turns, please finish it unless you have a time crunch with life or other games. I could play a little here and there this week, especially tomorrow,Wednesday, and Friday, but I don't have an overabundance of time, and I won't feel cheated in any way if I don't get it back.

1630 AD: Capture Puerto Ayacucho with Cavalry. Brasillia is captured with tanks.

1635 AD: Capture Esnerakda and Petara and Rio de Janerio. Block Argentinian unit rather than dealing with them I am also rushing transports in about 5 cities to get our armies across more quickly.

IBT: Aztecs and Argentina ally to destroy us. We are attacked by some Cavalry - Oh I didn't recognise them as they are Gaucho.

1640 AD: Note that we are in the odd position of having 59% land but only 53% population. Starving down the cities took its toll earlier in the game. I MM for food.

Declare on Venezuela to grab extra 'easy' territory compared to the annoying infantry.

Capture Recife losing a full 18 hp cavalry vs a 4 hp Infantry.

I lose a second 18 hp Cavalry Army vs Neuquine, but we capture the city.

We definitely do not have enough defenders so I airlift a lot across the ocean.

IBT: I was going for speed to get our armies across but this costs us as Argentinian ships show up and sink 2-3 transports with armies. However, Iroquois are also hitting Argentina stacks.

1645 AD: Regroup transports under Destroyers.
Caracus Captured.
Use combat settler to get closer to El Tigre and Santiago del Estero.
Santiago will be tough due to size 25 AND on a hill. I use bombers and such to injure the units as much as possible and then attack with armies and tanks. We nearly lose an Army but it retreats. Finally we capture the city.
El Tigre is captured using Tanks.

Start on San Juan, but keep most of our free Tanks until next turn as I don't just want injure the units. We can reach it with Artillery.

I think we were at 60/56 for area/population.

IBT:
Lose a cruiser, Error on my part and we lose the temp town I built. I tried to protect everything but somehow missed. it. Argentina attacks the city near their huge stacks. Fortunately, they don't all attack as we would lose.
Caicara deposes us

1650 AD: Take back the town we built.
Now our fleet with armies is 1 square too far for San Paulo, so I abandon it and build our own town. I think the armies I can use for an extra turn will be a bigger benefit that San Paulo's population give us. Build Closest reach, move the transports into it and we can unload giving us 8 armies to move this turn.

We can capture San Juan with Tanks after bombardment. Take back Cacaira after bombardment.

Use armies to Attack and Capture Mantazana which as a large number of workers

Capture Venezuelan capitol of Merida. Also capture Cabruta (Venezuela) on an Island near Greenland

Capture Veidma, but lost an army because I must have clicked twice as it makes a second attack I didn't intend.

Lose another Army on Mendoza. These Cavalry Armies are really having troubles with the largest cities.

At 61/58 due to capture of large cities.

IBT: Large stacks are heading toward Iroquois it seams - all but a few.

1655 AD: Many armies are healing from last turn and no new Armies means we have fewer than usual that can attack.
I have enough to take out Mendoza - another large city. I also line up Tanks to attack Parana next turn.

IBT: Santiago flips. Iroquois have helped whittle down the large stacks. As I said before, I am not concentrating on killing them - rather going for cities, but I still fight them with units I can't use for city attacks.

1660 AD: If it wasn't so late in the game, I would stop using Cavalry Armies on the bigger cities without bombardment - we lose 2 more full health armies. Take back Santiago, Jujuy, and San Louis.

We got an empty Army across for another Tank Army which will help.

Capture Codoba without loss. Also capture Buenos Aries which has less units than I thought it would.

Our space filling program is going well - we have no more spots in the main continent, and South America is fulling up - we also build beijing 3.

Finally we can reach Salta with tanks so we capture it with a few losses.

We are now up to 64/61. Will rush some hospitals next turn for cities that can no longer grow. I have done this before, but need another pass over it - the fast growing cities are hitting limits.

Move Artillery on La Plata. Move on Santa Fe. Move on Bahia Blanca

1665 AD: Bombard and capture La Plata. Bombard and Capture Santa Fe. Armies capture Biaha Blanca
Armies also capture Mar del Plata.

To 64/62 Raised to 64/64 after merging 220 workers.

1570 AD: Capture Tacuman and Roserio. There is now only one southmost town in South America we don't own.

Line up attack on final town. Block off Iroquois from South America and kill final Argentinian units to the North Finally get 2 leaders

Merge more workers into the Biggest cities raises us to 66% people ( only about 25 does it) - I had forgotten the fact that its actual population and not town sizes for last turn.

We are now at 65/66. I don't think we will win yet. but I rushed settlers to fill some more spaces in South America.

IBT: Neuquen deposes us

1675 AD: Capture Evalandea - the final town, capture Neuquen. We have over 66 after 1 settler in South America, but we plant 5 more in case a town flips.

IBT: We gain a domination victory.

There is a 1675 save if anyone is interested... and a picture.
I am guessing the negative time means ppl left this game running when not playing. Normally I don't think we would go over - I may have left it running overnight myself. Can't remember.

Glad to record the win.

This one was set once we took out India. From there, we went in steamroller mode. We have some tough speed bumps like Egypt, but India gave us the base we needed.

Now the question is wait to I can finish Indonesia, or start LK148 with something else.

Congrats guys. There LK world map games used to be a lot of fun to follow in the past and this was no exception. Can't wait for more!

I kind of liked the idea of playing Greece in a 'farewell' game. I would not want to play at deity though.

Is there a difficulty level this would be interesting to play?

Edit: I also suggest no huts. It jumps the AI forward in tech when there is lots of empty land.

Congratulations gentlemen. Good game. Off to follow the link to 148
