LONES: Dawn over a New World
earthsun.jpg
This NES is in the spirit of the very first fresh start NESes. Going back to a classic map, and classic rules (or lack thereof), your success rests solely on the fluency of your orders, your literacy and ability to express the ideas that make up the backbone of your civilization, and the luck of the gods.

Start Technological Capabilities/Tech Tree
Assume we are starting in the late iron age, with all the technologies applied thereof. There will be no tech tree, and if you would like an invention to be applied to your people, outline it in your orders as to what kind of invention it is. New types of weapons go under military, plows under economy, et cetera. Again, there is no tech tree!

Nation Guidelines
I am going to assume you are all adults, at least intellectually, and will know where the line is between realistic and ridiculous. If I get orders from the Royal and Esteemed Sultanate of Jake's Hamster Sparky, I will ignore them, though I might laugh a bit first. All nations or cultures, for the sake of my own sanity I will call them nations, should follow this template:

Nation/Culture Name:
Government:
Capital:
Population: Leave blank
Economy: Leave blank
Religion: Describe your religious habits and the deity you worship. The strength of religions shall be measured in a separate post, and the strength the religion of your people possesses could help influence the tide of fate.
Loyalty/Nationhood: Leave blank
Wonders/Projects: Leave blank
Army: Leave blank
Navy: Leave blank
Anything else you might wish to add/description/etc:

A Breakdown of Stats
Most of these should be self-explanatory, however, they do follow scales and I will explain them here.

Population
Pithy - Small - Growing - Average - Large - Massive - Gigantic

Economy
Depression - Recession - Turning Around - Growing - Expanding - Monopoly - Supreme Monopoly

Army
Pithy - Small - Growing - Average - Large - Massive - War Machine

Navy
Identical to Army.

Loyalty/Nationhood: The general unity of your people, the likelyhood that they will rebel, their loyalty to and satisfaction with your rule. Follows the scale below.
Rebellion - Anarchy - Mass Dissent - Growing Dissent - Placated - Accepting - Loyal - Extremely Loyal - Unquestioning

Religion: A description of your religion, what your worship, the name of any deities included in your pantheon, or the deity of your pantheon. There will be a religion post with their strength, following this pattern.
Atheism(virtually no followers whatsoever) - Disorganized - Agnostic - Organized - Church Hierarchy - Fanatical

Wonders/Projects: Any notable projects you have completed or undertaken. Will have a fraction denoting how many turns are left until the completion of a project/wonder, and the names of any completed projects wonders. Note that civil and military projects do not belong here, unless they are major. For example, the Apollo Program would be a wonder, while radar would not. Outline and describe your wonders/projects in your orders.

Orders
The success or failure of your culture will ride on the fluency and literacy of your orders! If you send my five lines about increasing your military or navy, I cannot promise that anything will come of it. However, if you send me a plan for how you will garner more troops for your military, or re-energize your economy, I can guarantee results! Please be clear and concise, and section your orders, but feel free to go into as much detail as you want. The more in-depth your orders are, the more successful your culture will be. Outline battle-plans, and the more in-depth and logical they are, and to your abilities, the more likely you are to be victorious.

Dating
You are encouraged to create your own calendars, but the game will have its own calendar, beginning in the First Age. Ages shall end by the game calendar based on major events (the rise and fall of empires, rise and fall of religious movements, et cetera), and when an age ends will be at my own discretion, based on your actions.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt

The First Age: Year 1
Pockets of civilization dot the surface of this young world. Man separates himself from beast by erecting structures, making armor and weapons, and forging the foundation upon which the history of this species shall be built. The first civilization we come to is that of the Warmia. A confederation of various tribes, this people of the cold north seem almost too proud of the rolling forests and snow-capped mountains they call home. They have erected many villages therein, and their fledgling society prospers under the guidance of their legendary leader, Lord Warmia, who it is said speaks to the spirits and ensures the safety and well-being of his people. Their capital of Braunsberg is a center of civilization in the isolated wilderness of the north.

On the same continent, we come to the people of the Terran Kingdom. Living on the southern end of the peninsula that juts from the mainland of the continent, their farms prosper from the sea that separates them from the southern lands. Their capital of Olikarsk is a great port, and the cities surrounding it are home to many luxuries unseen in other parts of the land. To the "barbaric", tribesmen that surround this isolated nation, the Terran Kingdom is a marvel of the gods. The ancestor worship that the Terran people practice has spread across the peninsula.

Going back to Warmia, and to the east, we see the people of Salvonic. Residing in the city of Riga and surrounding areas, their land is that of the tundra, and were it not for the nearby sea and the small tributary streams that erupt from it, they would surely starve to death. Their worship of the Ice God Xelo shows their reverence and respect for the harshness of the land in which they live.

Across the sea blue, and its great towering waves, live a people of the forest. Known as the Citia, they make a home for themselves among the plains and forests of the northern reaches of their continent. Their bitheistic religion and the interesting dynamic it creates has made their culture unique among the tribesmen that inhabit this area. Their capital, aptly named Unity, is a beacon of civilization in the otherwise dark wilderness.

Far, far upon the other side of the world lie the Dymaea. A strange people, they live in the forests and swamps of the largest continent of this world. Their even stranger religion, which does not hold true to the doctrine of a deity, but is in fact self-worship has earned them many followers among the less-organized and more primitive tribesmen.

Now, we are left with two more peoples. The Arguli, and the Ronenta. The Arguli, whose lands border upon those of the Warmia, are a people similar in ancestry and spirit. They are known to pilot great ships among the untrustworthy waves of the north, and though they are yet to expand beyond their peninsula, they shall surely be a great force in the world.

The Ronenta, who live in the pastoral and warm lands of the middle peninsula of the continent which holds the Warmia and the Salvonics. They farm the fields of their land, and live in relative peace, interrupted only by raiding bands of tribals from the south.

What all these cultures will amount to, is yet to be seen...

OOC: Hope this wasn't a too horrible first update. I will set a deadline up in a little bit. Map and stats will be added imminently.
Spoiler :
dawnoveranewworldupdate.png

OOC: Nice update, but I believe you should had waited a few days, so more people could had joined. I thought I asked for Maroon, as well, but that Slavic blue looks much better in my opinion.

@1stcitizen Don't you worry, Altru is worshiped as the (adoptive) father of Xelo, and is the most important god besides Xelo himself. His words of kindness stretches throughout the entire kingdom.

Ahh, sorry. I did the update today to get us started off, so no one gets disinterested waiting for the beginning. As a note:

More players not just welcome, but wanted. Create your own society, or take over the currently NPC'd ones.

Put me in the area around Istanbul.

Also, is there any penalty to posting an application after the first update? I just saw this NES when I woke up, and it's already updated.

OOC: For my own sake and sanity all of my people will have Western names.
IC:

John the Thinker sat pondering the meaning of life along with his beautiful wife Deborah the wise, he realized that if he was to understand life he must understand the scope of which it takes place. He needed to measure time, so he set out to do so, he took notice of all activies that take place on a regular basis, the pulse of his heart, the rising and setting of the sun and moon, the regularity of his wife's menstruation, (too regular if asked him) the appearance of the stars, and the time it took from conception to birth. He measured this and saw it was good, so he dropped to his knees and gave thanks to Ma and Fe. This was the First Citian Calendar.

Meanwhile Deborah sat ponderng numbers and mathematics, she wondered why numbers went I,II,III,IV,V etc..., she looked at her fingers and her toes and realized it would be much simpler to condense the figures into base ten. So she set about doing so, but then she realized that the need to be symbol to represent a lack of objects to count, so she drew a circle 0 and it would henceforth represent the void. She showed the scribes her idea and they liked it, the King and Queen declare that all scribes would use base 10 for their measurement from now on.
