Long hair on guys: stupid or cool?

I'm a guy and for many years, my hair was very long -- all-one-length, halfway down my back. As I got older, I cut it shorter and shorter. Now I have a spiky buzz-cut, and I think I look much better with short hair. (Male-pattern baldness is not an isssue for me. At least not yet...) But I still think it's cool and respect guys who can pull it off.

What do you think?

Definitely can be cool. But I'm a short hair kind of guy, which drives my girlfriend nuts. She likes to mess up my hair.

Just don't like it - I like my normal short hair, think that looks cool enough.

Long hair just doesn't fit on some persons, and that is something you notice right away. Stupid? Debatable. Don't like hippies, either, for certain reasons.

With my slightly receding hairline, I would be aspiring towards mullethood if I grew it out

It would have to depend on the person, and the way it is styled. My somewhat biased opinion is that long hair on a guy can look good. My wife would agree.

Neither stupid, not especially cool, just long. Now 4 years ago with hair and beard down to my shoulders, I bleached them both white and wore a santa clause suit all december.

My girlfriend hates long hair on guys, and says she would never have asked me out if it were any longer when she met me. Most of the women I've dated prefer it short, and I think that is the safest route if you're looking for love.

It can be very cool on guys. However I think it all depends on your facial structure, hair type, and body. On me for instance, short hair is more appealing than long hair would be. On some other guys I know, they look okay with short hair, but look really good with long hair. So I think it all depends.

Couldn't have said it better. I have a few aquaintances that have long hair and they wear it well. More power to 'em.
OTOH, most of my friends tend to be short-hair types (if not buzz cuts, white-walls, etc). Two words: low maintenance.
