Yes, it works just like that!

does it get you more score points??

Yes, you get score point for the specialist (for awhile until the food bin run out, then starvation, then the city re-grows...it's all part of the circle of life).

i am playing a chieftain game right now.i picked maya's.year is 1420 AD and i will get longevity 3 turn later.i have 3800 points and get 37 per turn.i m near the dom limit (5 tiles more).if i build longevity will i get more points????

Yes, you would increase your score, but not much! Just like the future tech, you would increase your score for every future tech you discover, but not much.;) However, the Longevity does yield a lot more points than those silly "future" techs.

That really depends!

Using it grow your milk cities more quickly can boost your score, but keeping Longevity when the cities are capped out can actually hurt your score!

A player of some caliber :mischief: did the math over a year ago:

If you want to read the "full" conversation, click to the thread and start at post #35.

To maximize score, try to balance cities such that 2 neighboring cities, say, each producing 1 extra food, are re-aligned, where possible, so that 1 city produces zero extra food and the other produces 2 extra food.......temporarily, of course! :)

To expound on what 'slug says, Longevity is good while raising the cities to maximum population but, at that point, all cities producing +/-1 food will suffer MORE from Longevity in the long run, pointswise, than if you had "destroyed"/not owned the Wonder at that point in the game. ;)

So building it is not an easy decision.......Unless you can get rid of it too! (i.e. Abandon the city that owns it and re-Settle on or near the same spot using Settlers/Workers to rapidly build up your "new" city.)

Instead of razing longlivety, you can instead set up the city to complete a worker the same turn it grows.. that way it only gains one in size, and you get same amount of points as if you didnt have longlivety.
Alternatively you can draft a unit the same turn it grows (if this doesnt cause too much unhappyness)

What good ideas, Gyathaar! :goodjob:

Of course, I'd rather "Run Out The Clock" for the last 100+ turns than MicroManage ALL those "+1food" cities!

I wonder if you would actually get higher score if you draft those cities once you get 1 extra citizen.. since you are spending parts of one turn with an extra specialist..
Is score calculated before or after growth?

Edit: I checked.. it is before growth, so you would never get the extra point for specialist if you drafted

I really don't have any problem whatsover with the Longevity. I think overall the gain will be more than the lost. Therefore, I have always build it ASAP and keep it all the way to 2050AD. May be that was my mistake...if I had destroyed my Longevity, I wonder if Kuningas would still beat me by less than 100 points. I haven't checked his game yet, but my feeling is that he didn't destroy his either.

Or we could beg Dianthus to give us another Tab in CRpMapstat to give us a list of cities about to grow...;) I think Dianthus will probably be saying...what next...do you want CRpMapstat to milk the game for you too?;)

I don't like drafting at all because it may produce unhappiness. Therefore, I have never done it in a milk game.

you could just draft in all cities that has grown.. (MapStat reports that).. since the cycle is 60 turns the unhappiness from draft can easilly be countered by a clown if nessesary :p

Don't be too greedy!;) You already have the world, why are you continue to abuse your citizens? :mischief:

Did some maths on your game.. you would have scored about 50 more if popping workers every turn of double growth
Thou Kunnigas didnt destroy his either so..

So basically, the number #1 slot would probably be yours next. I heard that you are working on one, isn't that true?

yeah, started working on one last weekend.. still in the BC thou, so hard to tell still.. it will all depend on how well my mid game goes.. since I am 20% ahead of you in score in early game, and the map is 4534 domination limit.. so my end game should yield more score aswell... Mid game will be the hard part :) As you can see on this graph this was where Kunnigas had problems too... this graph shows your internal per turn score and score each turn.. :

Thanks for the graph! It shows that I did very well during my last 100 turns.:) So basically, there is still hope for my current game. Yes, I also have a Sid game going too...you know me...it's hard for me to keep any secret from you guys. This one has a domination limit is 4562 with a lot of jungles all around me and I have to fight for every square of land because the AIs are all extremely close to me too. To make a long story short, at 10AD, I'm way behide my previous 81K game and also way behide Kunnigas game. However, I'm going to continue on to see what happen. I have a theory that the higher domination limit will eventually help me to catch up. If not, I really don't mind to be on the third spot.

Good observes. From 950AD to 1200AD I made one personal mistake. I self researched 3 techs Electronics, Miniaturization and Genetics.
Many happy faces were switched into scientist  Of course I should have start rushing Aqueducts and Marketplaces. I guess I lost
around 1000-1500 Firaxis points.

I made a mistake in reading the graph. Kuningas didn't catch up until around 1930 AD. Very good job for milking that last 100 turns, Kuningas!:goodjob:
