I'm looking for a good wargame to play in the PC. These are the most important features I'm looking for:

1) Go against at least 30 or so players/nations
2) Modding capabilities at least as far as maps/models are concerned
3) Intelligent AI
4) Destructible environments or models

I don't know that any such game exists but if anyone knows of one, please let me know what the name of the game is (or better yet, a link to a review of the game, if any) so I can look it up. Thanks.

Are you sure you know where you are, dude? :mischief:

I been playing much Medieval Total War lately = stategy, good AI, several
different nations, extra-fun tactical battles  . I'm not into modding so
you will have to check that out. Just one suggestion I can think of right
now ;) . You might want to look over the 'other games' forum here.

Take a look at Rome: Total War.

Yes, you can play as about 20-25 (hard to remember from here).

EDIT: This should really be in AOG :p.

Yes, the first thing i thought of is the total war series. I have medieval total war, but i dont play it much (RTS arent my thing generally, too much information coming at me and needing to think fast).

Civ 4 seems to have the first 3 pat down. My only question would be regarding battles. Would it be possible to make all 18 civs wage war against one another from the start? Is this possible with Civ 3?

RTW is with no doubt one of the very best game of ALL TIMES, but honestly, I really don't see how you can make it respond to the prerequisites given 0_o

I mean, the main flaw of RTW is the pathetic AI, the second main flaw is that the moddability is, though extensive, clearly NOT user-friendly, there is something like 20-25 nations, not 30, and you can only destroy the buildings during siege.

I repeat, RTW is one the very best, and you don't know what is a real tactical-strategy game until you've played it, but it is practically the antithesis of the criteria given...

RTW

1) Go against at least 30 or so players/nations (12 factions more with the expansion)
2) Modding capabilities at least as far as maps/models are concerned
3) AI is very weak
4) Destructible environments or models (Seige mode is still not as advanced as the rest of the game)

Well believe it or not, after reading all the info about Civ 4 and its possibilities, I've decided to go for Civ 4 (hold you applause please). So kudos to the Civfanatics website for their excellent source of information on Civ 4, and its great forum community as well (Now you can applaud).

I think he is talking about other wargames other than civ.

I think he meant that he was in OT :p.

Doesn't meet all specifications, but the game "Superpower" isn't too bad and its based off of the CIA World Factbook

Urgh, so many bad memories of that game.

I'll also suggest the Total War series. They're all good. And to try and be useful, I'll also suggest some of the Paradox games like Europa Universalis, Victoria, Hearts of Iron etc. No destructable enviroments or units, but has a decent AI, definately meets the 30+ nation quota and some modding potential.
