I've made the map! Currently just the large size:

Nice work! I suggest that you add this to the Alpha Centauri Downloads, which is part of this page. That page also contains instructions for how to do so. Thanks.

I see Strawberry Fields, Gemstone Bounty and Meora's Legacy as custom names given to standard landmarks (possibly others - I didn't look). It appears that your custom names display properly in the unmodded game. Was that your concern?

When you upload the map, it might be appropriate to add a text file with your name and a note that this map is for a yet to be released TC called Lost Eden and then zip a folder with the map and text file.

There is a green light under your name!

Okay I'll sort it all out now then! I'll edit this post when I have uploaded according to Petek's instructions.

And yes there is a green light! I'll be honest and say I am online most of the time when I am home (which is a lot), I rely on those instant subscription emails. :)

EDIT: Okay it's up! I think I did it right. :)

Yes I did! :)

Great. I took a look at the download section and I like the way it appeared. I would suggest locating the thread where Petek announced a download section and putting in an announcement about the download (or let Petek do so). Maybe the thread could be stuck. And maybe Petek or Acronym2 could announce the Old Style Mining Platform.

I took the liberty of registering a vote. (Someone always did it with scient's thread at CGN and it had the effect of making the thread stand out.)

Time for me to get into One Must Fall videos for uploading tomorrow. The friend's over as previously mentioned so let's hope that we get some cool games in. :)

Have fun and take your time replying. I am going out and won't be back for 12+ hours.

Hi Kilkakon,

I just wanted to say that I really like the project you’re working on. I'm very impressed with your hard work as well as of everyone else who's helping and supporting you. I’ve been following your thread for quite some time with great interest.

I really look forward to see more of your work in the future. I can’t wait. :)

I wish you Good Luck with your project.

EDIT: By the way, I love the map you've made. I'm currently playing a game on it. Very nice. :)

Thank you very much! It touches my heart to at least make something that people are enjoying. I've made other stuff before although normally I have to rely on other people that never appear... yay for the people here! :D

Glory to God though hey; I could have never got this far without him. Still look forward to some more progress when school's out -- which is going to start happening Friday!

I'm sure Kilkakon would appreciate any additional feedback you have on the map.
Yeah I would, on the ball as always vyeh. :goodjob: Any thoughts JH24?

Thank you very much for your kind words. :)

Yeah, Vyeh is right. And I'm sorry I didn't gave feedback in my last post. I'm not really good with feedback.

I really like the map you've made, I really do. I especially love the different continents you've made and all your attention to details like landmarks, islands, sea's, etc. There were a few small things I noticed after looking closer at the map, but like I said it is really good, it really feels as a real and believable new world. :)

My apologies in advance if I'm going too far.

1. In the southern part of the map is a continent with a shipwreckage on it. I noticed that in comparison with some other continents this one is very dry and might be more difficult to build an empire on.

2. At the northwestern continent I counted 4 special landmarks but IMHO it feels a little unbalanced to have them all here. (Strawberry Fields, Ruins, Gold field and Garland Crater.) There are 2 other smaller continents (Seafoam island in the southwest and the island Proving Grounds) who don't have a Landmark yet.

3. The southeastern continent looks great but IMHO it feels as if there's too little variation regarding land and perhaps a bit too much of the land to settle on. If you wish, you could for example add a mountain range, hills or small inland lakes/seas to reduce some of the land a little.

4. I don't know exactly what the function will be of the mystic ruins, but I felt the location of these ruins is a bit flat. The ruins don't really stand out from the map. For example you could surround them with a group of mountains or put them on an elevated landmark to increase their importance.

If you have any specific questions or want me to focus on special parts of your map, please let me know. I'll really do my best to help. :)

No worries! It's great that things are finally turning around. :D

Thanks! I was trying to make something worthwhile.

That is an unfortunate side effect of the Starship wreckage; it's all arid and casts a pretty big rain shadow. I can add some rivers on the western side if you think that would help.

2. At the northwestern continent I counted 4 special landmarks but IMHO it feels a little unbalanced to have them all here. (Strawberry Fields, Ruins, Gold field and Garland Crater.) Placing the Fields was tough. I placed them where they are so they are a bit smaller than usual. The idea of that continent was that if two people land on it it'll be pretty interesting, but I have yet to have a game where two people did. I'm happy to move Meora's Legacy to Proving Grounds though.

Seafoam Island and the neighbouring isles are deliberately small -- it's the reason the Seafoam Collective faction exists! They move from it because they ran out of room. Obviously any human starting there would make a beeline to Naval Exploration.

In the game that my friend and I have been playing, the Assassins started on the tiny bit of land above Janus Strait! Talk about poor starting position. Rakis started on Iceveil Headland but managed to get a boat across and build a few cities on the major landmass nearby. Betrayed started on Proving Grounds and hopped over to the major landmass too. True Arena was on Seafoam Island. -- Seriously only Adventurers and I got a start on a continent! (friend was pirates)

3. The southeastern continent looks great but IMHO it feels as if there's too little variation regarding land and perhaps a bit too much of the land to settle on. If you wish, you could for example add a mountain range, hills or small inland lakes/seas to reduce some of the land a little.
Plenty of landmarks though! I can cut the mountain in half though (the SErn part is just one large mountain) or perhaps enlargen Dragon Bay slighty. Looking at it again, I'm pretty happy with the size but am willing to consider losing a few squares in the name of balance.

4. I don't know exactly what the function will be of the mystic ruins, but I felt the location of these ruins is a bit flat. The ruins don't really stand out from the map. For example you could surround them with a group of mountains or put them on an elevated landmark to increase their importance.
The game makes the land flat there so they don't appear dodgy, same for Starship Wreckage. The Ruins give controlling factions +1 PLANET.

Sure well I feel pretty good about it overall. What do you think of what I said above?

@Petek
How easy is it to update a file in the downloads section? :)
