I voted Netherlands, large map, archipelago and Monarch. I've never played a succession game before but am finally upgrading to broadband (Thursday) so what better way to celebrate a faster connection to CivFanatics!

I've only had a brief look at C3C, but then I think the whole point of this excercise is to learn together, right? so yes, I'm ready to go.

Any need to discuss world settings, or leave them at default?

Barbarians? Roaming, restless or higher?

Those settings look fine. I'd say either default or random climate, barbs should be Restless (or Raging if people feel daring) to give the JTs a workout. (Free workers, anyone? So what if we need 3 to match the work of 1 of ours...)

We should also discuss starting strategy, but we can do that once the thread in the SG forum is opened. In particular, whether or not we want to try and do some early warmongering.

I would like to play however, the Monarch setting would probably kick my ass.
I need a little more practice on higher settings first.

We would probably benefit more by going with a warm climate (more deserts and jungles less tundra) since we get more food on irrigated desert tiles due to our agricultural and faster jungle chopping from being industrious.

An excellent point. I agree. How many opponents should we set? I tend to favor ~7.
