Mac version from Steam crashes on startup

Can someone please help me? I literally joined these forums for help, because I cannot find an answer. I'm stuck with a broken copy of Civ 5. I downloaded it off Steam for over 50 bucks, and I can't get past the startup. My screen goes black, begins to run it, then goes into an error message, "The application Civilization 5 quit unexpectedly." I tried everything and I'm pretty sure I meet the requirements to run it. I have a year old MacBook Pro with enough memory, and the only thing I think might be a problem is my graphics card, which is the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. If there is anything I can do let me know. Thank you!

Have a look through the Mac section of the forum for ideas.

This thread may also have some tips. I notice people have it running with a 9400M.

Are the graphics drivers up to date? It's especially important because the card is a really weak one.
