Mac vs. PC (PIC)

PC stands for Personal Computer. Last time I checked, the Mac was a personal computer....
 
True.

However, PC was a model name for an IBM computer, followed by the XT in the early eighties, the AT (286) and the 386 etc.
 
Right. But some people say that a Mac is a PC because it's a personal computer.

Way back in the day, there were PCs, and PCClones/compatibles. Then maybe fifteen years ago or so it just went to PC and Macs....
 
I always thought that "PC" was synonymous with "IBM compatible", but Macs weren't in those days. Of course now they are so it's moot...
 
Yeah but all the PCclones broke into the market and calling them clones of IBM got to be stupid, as really everyone was in on teh electrical engineering racket.
