What is the fastest way to get a Mail Runner in Pirates?

war canoe is more predictable.

Get them from indian villages.

talk the chief into attacking a settlement
and you usually have 3 chances to catch one

beware, they are fast.
so try to trap one against land.

The fastest way is to start with one. Here are the ships you start with for each Nation, in each era.

I was going to say agree to escort the peace treaty/declaration of war, and then capture it. That's where I recall seeing them.

Excuse me, what is a mail runner in Pirates? I have either forgot, or maybe it was not in the original version.

@ Sir Lancelot

The Pinnace class consists of the War Canoe, the Pinnace, and the Mail Runner. The class is fairly uncommon, but make decent warships due to their high speed and maneuverability. The War Canoe is the smallest, and is exclusively used by native war parties. The Pinnace itself is the most common, and is used by merchants and smugglers. The Mail Runner is the largest and is classed as a warship, but is typically only seen as a treaty carrier. Pinnaces and Mail Runners are used by all nations.

sme as ^ just get a war canoe.

There was only one type of Pinnace in the original version. A fragile little vessel that could be sunk with one broadside.

Most of the time you would want some troops with you. The Sloop can carry enough troops for a few battles. And it is very agile and can get decent speed also against the wind. And it is usually not sunk at the first hit.

Mail runners don't get sunk first hit.

Very evasive too.

They most certainly can depending on what sort of ship broadsides. But there main advantage is in the fact that they can run circles around the broadsides coming at them.

I captured a SoL with one ^.^ they are so damn small you can sail through the broad sides, swing round and round of chain into their sails, so they break, then pound them with grape, yes it is possible

i took down a sotl with on to only i just stayed behind him and kept broad siding him till he had about 200 crew then i boarded him with my 30 something crew and fenced him off the ship.
