Making great people more great

"Hey guys, you go ahead and fight them, I'll just... go over to that hill and.. watch the battle or something. Have fun!"

Ancient armies (as well as those of today) had a bunch of people who were cooks, blacksmiths (mechanics), and basically other staff-like people who kept the military machine going. Sometimes (in the past not now) wives and children would go along. So the idea that every person in the army would be part of the battle is false.

A bard could increase the morale of troops (which realistically is more important than having a sharper sword).

- guess thats a long way of saying why not have great bards with an army?

Actually, that's the purpose of the Kha line of unit for the Ngomele.

But this comment is a bit out of place here.

As far as I can remember, for the Norse, going into battle without a bard along was bad luck. you always wanted someone along who could record and make sound heroic everything that happened.

In games such as D&D bards can play songs to inspire their allies and stuff like that. :p

and devour the souls of the enemy (or at least their moral)

I always thought a settled GP should provide the city with a GPP.
