Ok i destroyed the German early on (3000-150) at Regent but they managed to make a city 1000 miles away from their capital just after i destroyed them. Well that's lame.

Statistics
7 German Slaves
12 Archer Destroyed
2 Warrior Destroyed
2 Spearman Destroyed
1 City Destroyed (Berlin)
1 Settler Destroyed

Uh, what the ----? When i destroyed Berlin i just noticed the German settled Berlin again.

That's because the cities loop, and probably hit Berlin again. I know in vanilla Civ3, it would go to the first city name in the list and move up the list to use it. In PTW and C3C, it keeps track of the current city. It's just the way the code is.

You can disable Respawn AI in the game setup. You'll see an area for the settings and victory conditions. One of those says, "Respawn AI". Click that, and make sure it's off.

On the screen where you pick your civ. There's also a ton of check boxes to define victory conditons and so on, in case you did not notice.
There's a checkbox 'respawn AI'.
If you disable it and capture the last city, they will not re-appear on the map (unless they still have a settler somewhere).

Btw, if there's not enough free space left on a map, an Ai will never respawn (if that option is checked).

edit: beaten :smoke:

I really hate that option. I really don't know why the default is for it on.

Man i wish i could respawn like that and have a lead of 2 tech on the cpu. Justlike that on the beginning

I always have it on, and essentially never see a civ respawn, no matter how early I kill them off.

Do you folks by any chance tend to play on sparsely populated worlds? I usually uses max civs for a given map size.

Anyone notice that every square the AI workes produces 2 extra shields, or at least i think. I was spying the portugal capital when a notice this, maybe that had mobilization, but then that one shield, what about the other.

Perhaps they were enjoying a nice Golden Age and a biscuit?

There have been many threads debating whether the AI cheats.

There are two things that I would place under the "AI Cheat" list, because they really bug me.

1) The AI knows from the get go where the resources are before they are revealed by tech advances. That's why whenever I am able to build Iron Works, its in a city I conquered, not one I settled myself.

2) They know where my Privateer is even if its at the furthest point on the map from them. I built a privateer just to experiment, and sure enough, a couple of turns later, I've got AI ships entering my boundaries to blow it out of the water.

The latter point really bothers me. I mean, come on, how can the AI being able to 'see' every square, no matter how far away it is, be reasonable? Does that mean they can 'see' what is happening on EVERY square, how many units in my city, how many workers, etc? without using espionage tactics like humans players have to?

Personally, I think a Privateer should be 'safe' from attacks until at least it leaves the boundaries of the Civ that built it. Once it leaves, then it could be fair game, regardless of whether it retreats back into the cultural borders.

The way it is now, its like the Spanish Armada speeding out to the Indian Ocean to sink one Privateer that has not harrassed anyone - yet. Pretty unrealistic, if not an outright cheat.;)
