Map doesn't display, but units do. Help!

I just bought the game this afternoon and after I tried to play it, I realized that my map, or the screen to show the landscape doesn't display. I can see my settlers, warriors, etc, but no terrain. Also, I can see the leader, but all I can see are the eyes or the costume they are wearing, no face. What can I do? I can't play the game without being able to see the terrain.

One the menu, click on advance, then on update and download the patch. If you already downloaded the patch I dont know what you can do. Most people have had this problems before they installed the patch but after that its been ok.

My system states that I do not meet the minimum requirements to run Civ, but my computer far exceeds the minimum requirements. I have over 7 gigs of hard space in my C: drive, but it says in my E: I have zero. What in the world do I do? This is frustrating! Please help!!!

Your "E" drive is probably your CD-ROM (thus the 0 megs - it's read only). What are your other specs? (like memory, video card, etc.)
