Did you ever play the Lone Wolf adventure books? I did, and have started to make a map of Magnamund, or at least the northern half. I will probably make a Magnamund Mod later, if I find suitable units (I don't think anyone would make units just for this). I know that both pterodactyls and Warg/Wolf Riders have been requested, these would be nice for the Darklords. Renamed to Kraan and Doom Wolves, of course :)
The map will only be for ptw, and mountains really should be set to impassable for all units. The map is based on the map in the Magnamund Companion.
If you wonder what this Lone Wolf thing is, or if you want to play the adventures, check out

(hope this uploaded pic works)

thats a lot of victory points...

Has no one heard about Lone Wolf? :( This thread sank like lead through melted butter.
Well here is the mini map as it looks right now. As you can see (if you know anything about Magnamund) I have only included part of Southern Magnamund. Should I include more, or just wall it off with mountains? The map is supposed to be played with mountains set to impassable by all units, and no cities on tundra and desert. Jungle is mostly supposed to be marches.

Where can we find out more about this 'Lone Wolf' and
'Magnamudnd' mrtn? I'm always curious to find out more about things. (Oh yeah, how do you play an adventure book? )

You guys should read my first post more carefully :)
It's a Solo Adventure, sort of like a computer rpg, but in text form.
"All your friends are dead, and the monastery burned to the ground.
If you run into the hills, go to 134
if you hide in the woods, go to 52
if you want to learn more about Lone Wolf, go here"

A lot of these books where published in the 80ies. It's fantasy. You play a kai lord, sort of like a jedi, and battle the Darklords, with a capital D.

I remember them. You had Kai powers (speaking with animals and such).
It was my introduction to RPG.
I think they created another serie with a young sorceror for the South of the world (tropical magnamund in a way).

Nice idea though i hardly remember the map.
Good need of units: wolves, goblins, wizards,.... could make it a nice alternative fantasy mod.

I know which graphics I'll use for giaks (orcs), wizards (kings + spells), kai (scottish swordsman) and drakkarim (uruk hai). I still miss wolf riders (needed for a LOTR mod as well) and Helghasts. And Banedon's flying ship, of course. :)

Oh, so it's like those 'Choose your own adventure books' I used to be so into! Thanks for the info, I think I'm gonna check it out!

I've played the whole series of Lone Wolf, but now, when playing tome 1 last year again in a nostalgy attack, it appeared to be a bit flawed...

mrtn --

I LOVED the Lone Wolf series. Magnamund seemed better developed than most fantasy-series -- certainly better than I would expect f/ a Young Adult 2nd-person multiple-ending series.

It's the one CYOA type series I hung on to into adulthood. I own 1 through 14 and the Magnamund companion, but they are all in storage.

The copyright reverted to Joe Dever a couple of years ago, and he's letting people put the adventures up on the net, which is very nice. At www.projectaon.org they have the first 13 books up, and the first Grey Star adventure.
I am working on a Scenario now, using this map. The countries will be
Darklords
Sommerlund
Durenor
Vassagonia
Dessi
Slovia
Lourden
the dwarves in Bor and
Lencia.

So if someone would make a Wolf Rider unit, I'd be very glad. This would be useful for a LOTR scenario too. :D
The Helghast units will use the Assassin graphics, and will have "hidden nationality" and "invisible" flags checked. Kai Lords and Magicians will have the "spot invisible units" ability.
