Marketplace

No, only in cities with a decent amount of :gold: coming in. I only build them in a couple cities usually, unless I need them for the happiness boost.

You should in any shrines/ corp hq's at the very least. Any city with above 20 GPT would benefit. Typically, my capital gets it and any commerce cities along with aforementioned shrines.

Only if the city would make a decent(~5 :gold:) amount of profit. The city advisors have no idea about what you want to specialize a city as.

akillias, would you please stop posting a thread with 10 words every time you have a question? Either place all your questions in one thread, or use the questions thread in the general forum; but right now, you're just flooding the forum with things barely related to strategy...

Agreed. I was about to post something like this.

I actually dont mind the "quickie thread" thing. Sure, it clutters the boards for a bit, but usually, the questions get answered and the thread moves down the list fairly quickly, especially here, where a thread can hit page 2 after it doesnt get a reply for a day.

But there is something to be said for the overall vaugeness of your questions aki. Like the religion one, very vague. Even the Marketplace and Courthouse ones are far too vague. You need to be a bit more specific about your questions, qualify them with a few more details about what is it you want to know. Offer some example circumstances, mention what leader we are talking about, maybe, etc. There is actually a very good thread about "How to create a post to get a better response", (actually, I think JuJu wrote it, right?).

Just my 2 cents, but sometimes, if you ask a pile of questions in one thread, the thread will become focused on only 1 or 2 parts of the actual question (or even derailed completely), and the rest will never be discussed. This way, he is getting specific responses directly for the things he wishes to know. And if jokers like me would stop posting in them, heh, they would fall off the first page pretty quick. Half his threads are already gone, with a simple 4 or 5 replies, then poof.

Things doesn't really get answered in the general questions thread...

They do get answered, just not as thoroughly. Most of these quick questions don't need super thought out answers though. They just need one post.

The question is, are they questions for the strategy forum in this undeveloped state?

But the forum is strategy and TIPS. And we are forgetting that not everyone has been a civ4 junkie for years. I would reccommend the poster read through some of the strategy guides. A lot of his questions will be answered as well as providing them with a knowledge of the underlying game mechanics behind the decissions. From his posts on specialists, markets and courthouses it is obvious he doesn't understand the basic economic principles. And how gold affects research and everything you do.

Hmm, my bad, JuJu, sorry, maybe it was UncleJJ, and its the J's I am recalling. I will have a look and edit in the link.

I agree with CivCorpse as well, the poster should read some guides and articles, but again, often the concepts are so overwhelming to new players that its hard to digest a mass amount of data. Yet another reason the "short, 1-topic question" can be more helpful. However, I will add, once again, that the questions should have more "flesh", more "substance" than the simple, 10 word "Whats the deal with Courthouses? Good or bad?"

I'm fairly certain that using that handy dandy search feature provides a lot of answers. I suspect that typing "marketplace" or "courthouse" into it would provide a great deal of information.

Having said that, I, like the original poster, am too lazy to try it but I still strongly suspect it to be true. I rarely post and even more rarely start topics, but I do know how to search and that has provided me with almost all the information I've wanted.
