Masonry Bypass

Unless I want the Pyramids or have a workable stone or marble tile I'll usually just trade for it after Alphabet.

I modded something like this - it was from an idea that I got on these forums, I added a tech called Slavery which enables the Slavery civic and allows the pyrimids. It requires both BW and Masonry. I like it a lot more this way.

Cool, do you have the mod on these forums?

My version of it, where Pyramids are in Monotheism, is also intended to be one step towards making Monotheism->Theology->Divine Right more viable. (I have some other ideas for a few minor changes)

If that's all your wanting to do, it's pretty simple mod. I can post it later if you want (I'm at work right now... ugh...).

Meh, I don't really care too much about that, most wonders are placed with very loose connections. Mt Rushmore, Fascism?

(FWIW, it's probably not historically accurate, but some people say the israelites were slaves building the pyramids. And ever look at the game's icon for Monotheism? That's enough connection for me :) )

I guess so. But in my opinion, the pyramids are not affiliated with a religion type. They were the tombs of pharoes and served the same purpose headstones serve today, only you know... bigger.

whats this topic about again... sorry - got way off topic there. I bypass masonary too (unless its in my starting BFC or I am going to WW (Wonder Whore)..)

I like the idea of the Slavery tech. I don't use mods, but that sounds cool. I HATE barbs and, hence, I am a very big fan of The Great Wall; thus Masonry is pretty much an early grab for me. I figure I make up the hammers and time by not having to build units to escort settlers/workers and defend improvements. And being able to divert barb armies onto my neighbors and slow their development is not a benefit to be underestimated.
