[Master of Mana] Book of Condatis

I think that Agnostic civs can have a event to change alignment in MoMana. I guess that was the cause for Evil Yakut, since she was one of the "random Good" leader. Now, I have only one Good, Varn (which was not doing much as a Good civ )

Funny, my game was exactly the opposite. I picked 4 evil civs, 3 good and 3 neutral (including myself) and Riuros of the Illians + Thudr of the Doviello turned good. The Balseraphs (Weevyl, Pickle and Hyde) decided to hole up on their own continent and the Calabim went 3 city challenge, making for a very low armageddon count and a good player + overcouncil lovefest.

Gosea has only 1/27 of your power so I don't think she'll be that hard to defeat

Riuros and Thudr went good? How? By adopting Order?

Nope, Riuros is agnostic and Thudr was in FoL when I met him. Don't ask me how they changed like that, but I remember getting an event giving me the opportunity to change my alignment in base FFH.

Chapter VII

Act VII-1: Monsters

Defeating the Infernals was the first step to purge the world from demonic infestation. We need to eradicate the roots of this problem: Gosea and her demonologist. Thus, I ordered Guybrush and his army to raze every Sheaim cities and villages, and to burn the capital to ashes. So far, they managed to do their job well. They even managed to raze the Ashen Veil holy city, destroying one massive demonic portal in it.

But alas, Gosea still had tricks up on her sleeves.

Civ4ScreenShot0281.jpg

Not only relying on her demonology and necromancy, Gosea somehow managed to subdue a great beast. She enslaved the beast and used it to attack Guybrush and his troops. That damn loser could do nothing agains the great beast's attack! If not for the brave Stonewarden accompanying his troops, the great beast would decimated the entire army. Thank to Kilmorph, the Stonewarden managed to kill the beast and sanctify its corpse so Gosea could not raise it as undead beast.

[Note to myself: I will force Guybrush to learn other skills in the future. At present, he is a worthless loser with Singing as his only talent! Bah! Even the tavern wenches can sing better than he!]

After defeating the beast, Guybrush's army met with Caegord's and they combined into one greater army under Caegord's leadersip. Yes, of course this had anything to do with Guybrush's lack of ability (singing did not count!). I felt the army will perform better under Caegord than that good-for-nothing loser. And my prediction was correct! Caegord managed to inviltrate Sheaim border. His scouting provided good information for us. Apparently, Gosea managed to open another portal to hell. This time she bound a group of devils and put them in patrol of her northern border.

Civ4ScreenShot0291.jpg

To be able to defeat the devils and destroy the Sheaim, I called Brigit. She and some Stonewardens were sanctifying the Infernals' cities. They did a good job, and the demonic citizens in Dis, Poena and other Infernals cities now subdued. I ordered the best smiths in Lanun to forge the best weapon and armor for Brigit. Also, I asked the elders to enchant a Ring of Resistance to help the archangel against the devils's fiery magic. While Brigit was the archangel of Fire, she had lost many of her divine powers. She had no holy aura, and her divine spells were no longer working. Even Condatis was stronger than Brigit! Fortunately, Brigit was a good fighter with plenty of experience fighting evil mages. She also kept her affinity to Fire magic, thus making her formidable warrior.

Act VII-2: Other Battlefronts

Focusing too much on destroying the Infernals and Sheaim had costed me big. The other battlefronts were at stagnation. Only the powers of Condatis and her attendants managed to keep Hannah at bay. Mordmorgan even managed to sneak an army pass our eastern border. The army was marching to Willikies without detection. Luckily, a group of Child of Condatis were travelling to Dis. With the help of the priestesses, the local garrison at Willikies managed to destroy the invading army.

Civ4ScreenShot0295.jpg

But not all were lost. One great engineer was born in Innsmouth. I ordered him to go to Willikies and surveyed the mine there. He managed to find a deposit of gems, and expanded the mining operation.

Civ4ScreenShot0294.jpg

Our sages extensively wrote and researched our war efforts and managed to discover a more effective Military Strategy. They suggested that building a Warrior District specialized in training young nobles would improve overall effectiveness of our army. I heartily agreed. Finally those young b*stard could do some good for their nation!

Civ4ScreenShot0297.jpg

The Stonewardens' prayers, the faith of our citizens and tithe collected in the temples apparently satisfied Kilmorph. She bestowed her divine favor upon us, granting us a Sacred Knowledge. Our people rejoiced, and a Hero named Arthendain was born in Innsmouth.

MoMana Trivia

In MoMana, great persons have new abilities. You can use a Great Engineer to open Mining Expedition in a hill. A metal/gems resource will then appear in the hill. Or, you can use a Great Engineer to Invent New Equipment. You will be able to buy an armor/weapon, that is stronger than regular ones. The Great Engineer will be consumed, either way.

-----
Xtended Tips

Xtended introduced two advanced temples for each religions. These advanced temples specialize further the religion and provide stronger benefits than basic temple. These advanced temples are unlocked by the second or even the third Sacred Knowledge of the religion, though, forcing a player to invest deeply in the religion before he/she can gain the benefits of advanced temples.

For Runes of Kilmorph, the advanced temples are Vault of Kilmorph (gives great amount of gold and fits the Merchant cities greatly), and Dedicated Workshop (gives two hammers per culture level, making the Noble cities as the centre of production!).

Act VII-3: Condatis' Grief

After long struggle, finally Condatis managed to capture Healfe, where the holy city of Octopus Overlords was.

Civ4ScreenShot0303.jpg

To capture the city, she and her attendants had to vanquish plenty of demons. Apparently, the Overlords also use demonic power, even when their base tenets were radically different than the Ashen Veil. Instead of opening gates directly to the world as what the Ashen veil did, the Overlords used dreams to invade the minds of their faithful, and then infused the essence of demons to the minds of those poor people. The result of this ritual is the Stygian Guards.

Civ4ScreenShot0306.jpg

Unlike Hyborem's demons or even the Devils. The Stygian Guards were essentially men, but then their body and mind were corrupted, twisted, mutated by the unholy rituals done by the Overlords's Cultists. Once the rituals completed, the men were transformed into demon, with no independent thinking left inside his brain. There was no ritual to undo this transformation.

For the first time, I saw Condatis cried when she failed to revert a Stygian Guard back to his human form. She killed the man instead.

After that night, I see new determination in Condatis's eyes. She did not raze the city of Healfe. Instead, she asked me to preserve the city, as a reminder for all humankind on the danger of Octopus Overlords. I agreed to her wish. Followed by her attendants, she then marched to the north, with sole intention to destroy every single Temple of the Overlords.

Act VII-4: The Heroic Deeds of Bambur

Even with little backups, Bambur the Hero stood fast in our eastern border. He managed to infiltrate Mordmorgan's territory and attack the city of Celo. I commended his bravery. While Mordmorgan did not embrace the Ashen Veil, but the corruption had spread to his territory. Apparently, any evil deeds would hasten the spreading of the corrupted lands, without regards on what religion a person embraced. Thus, it was imperative to capture his cities and started the Sanctify ritual to restore the land to its natural form.

Unfortunately, Bambur encountered heavy resistance from Mordmorgan. Unlike my Lanuns, his Lanuns delved deeply into the arcane arts. His magi were specialized in evocation spells, thus allowing them to cast harmful spells to Bambur's army.

Civ4ScreenShot0310.jpg

The soldiers of Kilmorph managed to counter the evocation spells by calling miracles from Kilmorph. A Child of Condatis accompanying the army also used her water magic to create illusions and befuddle the enemies. But the number of the enemy overwhelmed them. Bambur fought valiantly. He managed to defeat Mordmorgan's finest warriors, before finally succumbing to his wound.

Civ4ScreenShot0312.jpg

At season of 349 After the Age of Ice, we were mourning our loss of the brave hero Bambur and his loyal companions. May Kilmorph shelter their souls and comfort their families and kins.

A pity you lost Bambur. Although hero units aren't that unique in this modmod, iirc (as you can promote a level 11 unit to hero anyway).

Yeah, I have promoted Caegord and one Child od Condatis to Hero (first pic on Act VII-2 above). But Bambur had the ability to cast some miracles of Kilmorph. He was more valuable than that Guybrush :nono:

I misjudged Mordmorgan's ability, including his mages (who were casting Chain Exploison repeatedly at Bambur and co)

Chapter VIII

Act VIII-1: Once and For All

We beseiged the Sheaim's last city of Skadistad. It was a remote city, far from the heart of Sheaim empire. But who would thought that Gosea built a last-resort fortress with such complex defense? She managed to turn the small city into focus of power, summoning skeletons, spectres and devils to defend the city.

Civ4ScreenShot0313.jpg

Before we began our frontal attack to the city, Brigit led a small troop to destroy the Necrototem and the spectres laired inside it. With her holy strength, she managed to kill every spectres.

Civ4ScreenShot0314.jpg

After that, Caegord led the second group to attack Skadistad. He managed to defeat many enemies, both human and non-human. Gosea's Pyre Zombies were devastating monstrosities, but Caegord's Ring of Resistance nullified their fire attack. After stripped of their fire, the Pyre Zombies were no more than walking dead. A hack from the soldiers, prayer from the priests an some magic from the adepts managed to bring the legion of Pyre Zombies down. The soldiers were relief, they thought they had defeated the last defender of Skadistad.

That is, until they saw the Hill Giant.

Looming above the tallest warrior, the giant stroke fear into the heart of Lanun soldiers. This proved fatal, because the stunned silenced was broken by the sound of the giant's club smashing the bones of the soldiers. Panic ensued. Caegord was too wounded in his fight against the Pyre Zombie. Brigit was sanctifying the Necrototem outside Skadistad. No one was strong enough to face the giant.

But at that perticular time, Guybrush showed his worth for a hero.

Civ4ScreenShot0320.jpg

He faced the giant and then managed to slay him in a fierce duel! While his strengths, skills and abilites were not impressive, his luck managed to create several opportunities for him to land critical hits. The giant fell down, and our troop rejoiced!

Civ4ScreenShot0321.jpg

We finally managed to wipe the Sheaim from the face of Erebus!

Our brave soldiers rushed to the central room, where Gosea was. The duel was short, and she was slain by the divine miracle of our Stonewarden. But during her final moment, with her final breath, she managed to activate a talisman. During that split second, the earth shook and there were fire everywhere. Men were screaming as the air turned hot, and the walls flare as if terrible embers.

In that split second, many were killed.

Brigit came hurriedly from the Necrototem, leaving the wounded Caegord to guard the evil temple. Using her fire magic, she managed to save some soldiers; from our southern army, only three priests, two swordsmen and one soldier of Kilmorph were saved. And Guybrush. The other were killed during that terrible moment. Before the survivor managed to catch their breath, they heard terrible screams and shouts. The devils had come!

Civ4ScreenShot0328.jpg

Apparently, Gosea's talisman unleashed the power of the devil upon us. After their fiery attack, the grunts and warriors from the abomination race were attacking us, intent on destroying every scrap of humanity. The priests prayed with all their heart, while the swordsmen protected them. Finally, the miracle of Kilmorph smited the devils, forcing them to withdraw to their dimension gate.

Civ4ScreenShot0341.jpg

Not wanting to give the devils the opportunity to recover or flee, Brigit chased them. She fought valiantly, her blade shone with the flames of her holy wrath. She managed to destroy many devils, preventing them from regrouping. She also blocked their access to the inner gate, preventing them from fleeing to Agares's plane. Some managed to flee to the southern waste, but Caegord and his men managed to chase them and destroy them on the spot.

Civ4ScreenShot0343.jpg

After several days of intense fighting, we finally managed to destroy all of the devils summoned by Gosea. I fervently hoped that there were no other dimension gates like this in Erebus. Closing one had cost many lives. I could not imagine the scale of destruction if there were more than one gate!

Civ4ScreenShot0345.jpg

At the 356th season After the Age of Ice, we closed the gate and gained Kilmorph's favor. Finally, the world is free from the Sheaim, and all demons and devils that they had summoned. The efforts to restore Erebus had not reached the end, but at least we took the first step to purify it.

Act VIII-2: Dear Old Friend

I felt very good after destroying the Devil Gate. Did that act make me a Good person (as in, champion of the world)? I don't know, and never care much about that. All I want is a place of comfort, where my people can live peacefully. And where I can indulge my fantasies with the ladies happily, of course.

Civ4ScreenShot0347.jpg

A night after Brigit had destroyed the Devil Gate, the people of Bren Bagage saw a miracle in their city wall. The priestesses of Danalin were rejoiced. They thought that the miracle was a sure sign of Danalin's awakening. With Condatis capturing of Octopus Overlords' holy city, the spells woven around the sleeping god is weaking each day. The followers of Danalin expected that their god will be free any moment now.

Civ4ScreenShot0352.jpg

Some sinister forces were taking advantages of the religious frenzy seized my people. Several foreign agents were infiltrating my cities, masquerading as pilgrims from various lands. They poisoned the water wells in Innsmouth. Luckily, our elders managed to purify the water wells using the water nodes we have. We couldn't catch the saboteurs but I had a strong suspicion on who the mastermind was.

Civ4ScreenShot0355.jpg

Further foreign influence causing trouble in Willikies. All of sudden, our citizens declared their longing to join the "Calabim motherland"! I did not think that Elena was the mastermind behind this. She might be greedy, but she would not destroy our long standing alliance for no apparent gain. But, she IS greedy...

Civ4ScreenShot0357.jpg

To suppress hostilities among our citizens in the cities bordering Elena's territory, I sent several Great Bards to the cities. I hoped that the Bards' performances will be able to distract the citizens. But my plan was not working. The mood was worsening, with hostilities turned into physical clashes between citizens.

My spies infiltrating the Calabim court were reporting private meetings between the elites of Calabim with several elvish merchants. Ah, apparently, Elena had come under Faeryl's spells. Understand that her warriors were too far away from my territory, Faeryl chose another way to attack me. I tried to reason with Elena, but she did not listen to me. Instead, she embraced Faeryl's faith.

I had no other choice to end this madness. Finally, I declared war to Elena.
