Math05: 5BCC Domination

4000 BC
Kyoto founded
100% on Mysticism
Our rivals:
-France
-England
-Greece
-Maya
-India
-Perisa
-Celts

3200 BC
Meet Maya: they have Masonry, Pottery, Warrior Code and 10 gold

3150 BC
Maya now have Bronze Working and Alphabet as well, but no gold. They have met and traded with Greece.

3000 BC
We have Mysticism. No beakers invested in next tech.

Settler in production will be done in 3 turns with growth, no need to MM. Osaka can use the second cattle after settler is done.

I see the tip of a border in the northwest. By the color, it is the Celts.

Science options:
1) Study Alphabet. Note that 4 of the 6 rivals not yet met start with Alphabet.
2) Study Polytheism. We could try Monarchy slingshot to get out of despotism.
3) Zero research until we meet the Celts. Trade for Alphabet, research Writing.

if you moved 'new city 1' one tile to the sw, we would replace 3 plains with 2 hills and a grassland for a total of 5 hills and 7 grassland. there would be a bonus grassland on a river also. i would go with poly and a monarchy slingshot, then republic later.

Slingshot to Monarchy is fine with me, it also pays for a few units we build, where Republic doesn't, so we won't go broke setting up the Military. Getting some supported horses that will become Samurai seems beneficial. I like the move of 'New City 1' even though it doesn't get the wheat until it's expansion...or the founding of 'New City 2'. Perhaps 'New City 2' should become 'New City 1' since the use of the wheat on floddplane could get our final two settlers out sooner...I think, I'm not sure of the speed of production though, so I'm assuming with the expidited growth we can get the settlers out sooner, and that way the move of 'New City 1' would then get the wheat upon being founded.

Some one get the got it?

I have realized that the Mayans have not necessarily met Greece. Any of the civs with Alphabet could have picked up Bronze Working before the meeting.

Polytheism it is then. We can delay trading for Alphabet until it isn't considered a monopoly tech. I'd rather not trade anything until we meet a third rival.

New City 1 - yes, one tile southwest has +3 base shields over the current location, so we should do that. The only drawback is that the wheat is not within borders until first expansion.

OK, now that we have a plan, anyone who wants it can post a 'got it' and start playing.

Pre-Turn: Switch to Polytheism in 36.

Hit Enter.

Turn 1 – 2950 BC: Northern warrior meets Celts, as predicted. I would never have picked that single pixel as a border :) They have BW and Pottery but it’s Alphabet we want and the Maya still want two techs for it so I hold off.

Turn 2 – 2900 BC: Kyoto due to grow in 1, settler needs an additional 2 shields. The governor is set to emphasize production but I’m never confidant it will work.

IBT – Kyoto: Settler => Settler

Turn 3 – 2850 BC: Settler heads off unescorted (no barbs right?). Osaka takes the cattle.

Turn 4 – 2800 BC: Warrior reaches the West Coast. NE warrior spots green border that wasn’t there last turn.

Turn 5 – 2750 BC: Increase slider (2 turns late  )
Greeks contacted. They have 3 techs including Alphabet. I trade The Wheel for Alphabet, Bronze Working + 10 gold. Next I give the Celts Alphabet for Pottery and their 10 gold, and the Maya The Wheel for Masonry. Finally Pottery and CB gets me Warrior Code from Greece. We have all know techs and are up 1 on Maya, 2 on Greece and 4 on the Celts.

IBT – Osaka: Warrior => Worker
Greece asks my warrior to leave.

Turn 6 – 2710 BC: A Celt warrior is nosing round our capital so I move our new warrior from Osaka.

Turn 7 – 2670 BC: Greece now have 20 gold. I could take it off them for Mysticism but we still have the monopoly on that.

Turn 8 – 2630 BC: Tokyo founded. Kyoto grows to 3 but the new MP means the slider stays at 100%. Swap the second cattle again.

Turn 9 – 2590 BC: Warriors continue scouting.

IBT – Kyoto: Settler => Settler
Osaka: Worker => Curragh

Turn 10 – 2550 BC: Settler starts off for new city 2. E warrior meets French. They have nothing. Polytheism in 20 at max.

Too soon to build last settler in Kyoto. Build warrior first. After that, settler should complete 2 turns after growth to size 3. Leave the 3rd citizen on forest if second BG is not mined. Total 8 turns: 3 for warrior, 5 for settler.

We'll need granaries and workers before anything else.

The pesky Celts have built Lugdunum two tiles from New City 2. Should we found it there anyways? Building a temple would give a chance to flip Lugdunum, but I'm not sure if the Celts might respond militarily. That isn't as bad as it would be on a harder level, so I suppose settling on the spot would be okay.

Oh, I guess I might as well give you an update. It's 2390, and nothing significant has happened.

Yes build there and start a temple. I think it is to our advantage. When we need to fight the celts we'll take Lugdunum off them and that will give us the incense.
