merge a worker in Satsuma

Notes: I've been a bit slow in worker merges; workers in Kyoto, Osaka, and Satsuma should be merged next turn
Non-merged workers should start mining irrigation and hills
Granaries should be sold when cities get up to size 12
Courthouses would get at least an extra gold in all but Kyoto
India would sell construction for map making, HBR (it seems like they're researching HBR), and more than 31g or for poly and map making
Maya looks like they could be our first target (if those cities would stay above size 1)
I forgot to disband that northern warrior; blocking the choke isn't possible anymore

Pre-turn, 750bc

MM Satsuma to grow in 8 turns instead of 40. one more turn on the market place won't kill us, I don't think.

Disbanded Warrior near England.

Trade Currency to India for Construction. They, or Greece would have traded it straight up for this or CoL. I chose Currency because with it, they might be able to make some money to pay us for things in the future. I chose to make the deal with India instead of Greece because they are further away and so we might trade with them later in the game then with Greece.

Set science to 60%, Feud in 12 and breaking even. Chose not to bring Greece into the Middle Ages for their free tech since Persia still refuses to acknowledge our envoy, the fool... But if it pleases our citizens, so be it. If Greece were to get Fued, I couldn't trade Lit or Mon for it straight up, so not bringing him up and studying it seems the best plan to me. When Persian is talking to us again, probably 3-5 turns I will probably bring them both up and hope neither gets Feud, my luck they both will...

IB-

Mayan galley heading south past Osaka.

Marketplace complete in Kyoto, start horse and MM to get it in 2 turns with no waste

Turn 1 730bc

worker merges and movements and MM in Tokyo

Osaka population reaches 12, sell the Granary for 15g. Can't slow food production until Eng is learned to plant forests.

Kyoto to zero growth, will merge a worker in a turn or two.

IB-

Osaka marketplace complete, start a horse and MM to get it in 2 turns, no waste.

Edo marketplace complete, start a horse, can't MM to get it in 2, 3 turns with waste...

turn 2 710bc

worker moves.

IB-

Kyoto horse complete, set it on Cat for the moment, will check into it when turn begins.

Cultural borders expand in Osaka, Edo, and Satsuma

Turn 3 690bc

Decide to build a few cats out of Kyoto, the only city that can build one a turn.

IB

Mayan galley heading back north, might have dropped a settler south of us, not sure yet.

Kyoto-Cat>Cat
Osaka-Horse>horse
Tokyo-Market>Court

Mayans building the ToA... Wait, the Mayans?

turn 4 670bc

Move new military units to Edo.

Merge worker to Edo.

drop science to 50%, getting 24gpt and only lose one turn one Feud. The cash will help with our upgrades once we reach Chivalry.

Persia still not talking...

IB-

Mayan city south of us(could have been there last turn)

Kyoto- cat>cat
Edo- horse>Court
Satsuma- market>court

The English are building the ToA
London completed the Colossus
Persians building ToA
Celts building ToA(hope they get it, so we can take it early.)

Turn 5 650bc

worker moves

IB-

Kyoto- cat>cat
Osaka- horse>court

turn 6 630bc

Persia talks, give them Math for peace. Bring them to the Middle ages and they get...Feud, I just knew it!

Bring Greece up, they get Mono. Can't trade one for one Lit or Mon for either.
With 5 turns left on Feud, I decide not to make any trades and get it myself, then will trade it to Greece if Persia hasn't already.

IB-

Forgot all about the War Happiness, everyone riots except Tokyo.

Turn 7 610bc

lux to 30%, sci at 40, feud in 5(still)

IB-

Kyoto- cat>cat

Turn 8 590bc

worker moves(mining plains around Edo to reach zero growth at 12 and up production.

IB-

Kyoto- cat>horse

Turn 9 570bc

more worker moves

Turn 10

merge worker to Satsuma, zero growth when workers finish mine.

Kyoto can grow faster then Tokyo, so merge the one standing inside and one of the two on the Wines to Tokyo. I changed Kyoto to grow in 4. Should have let Kyoto grow earlier, but miscounted my workers. I believe we wanted 10 natives after the merging. Edo will get his 12th this turn, working the mtn should get us at zero groth there, once the mine is complete on the plains.

We can now trade Monarchy for Feud, but with two turns left is it really worth it, I guess it lets us begin Chiv 2 turns sooner. I probably should have traded both techs to get them all, been rethinking that. Why did Persia have to get Feud?!

Greeks will definately give up Mono for Feud whenever we get it.

We should stop long enough for discussion between most turnsets. Nothing major here, but discussing the trade possibilities would have helped.

Here's what I have in mind:

After we get Feudalism, trade for Monotheism and go for Chivalry.

In 5 turns, we will no longer be getting incense from the Celts. Do not trade for it again. Instead, gift them Monarchy (to throw them into anarchy and prevent pop-rushing), declare war, then take Lugdunum by force. Be sure to protect our reputation: Declare war before crossing the border.

We do not need to attack any town other than Lugdunum, so we should sue for peace as soon as possible after taking it.

@ CVH: You are not up

The Roster:

TimBentley

Takeo - Up
CoolioVonHoolio - On deck

didn't have time to finish tonight, it's late and i have to work tomorrow.
i do have some good news tho-

the turn that the incense deal ended, Lugdunum flipped to us! :D
build a temple there?

will finish tomorrow afternoon/evening

lol, nevermind the war, then!
yeah, temple sounds good

Preturn-
mm Tokyo to grow in 6 instead of 18 and it still get courthouse in 1. workers at Tokyo had already moved; will merge next turn.
trade Monarchy to Persia for Feudalism.
trade Feudalism to Greece for Mono, Chivalry in 16.
Satsuma is rioting, move horseman from Kyoto for mp duty.
hit enter.

IBT-
Kyoto trains horseman->pikeman
Tokyo builds courthouse->horseman

530BC (1)-
merge 2 workers into Tokyo and it is size 11 with growth in 6.

IBT-
Osaka builds courthouse->horseman
Edo builds courthouse->horseman
Satsuma builds courthouse->horseman

510BC (2)-
nothing

IBT-
Kyoto trains pikeman->horseman
Tokyo trains horseman->horseman
celt warrior/settler pair dropped off nw of Tokyo.
couldn't they have just walked there?

490BC (3)-
worker mineing to bring food to zero on Kyoto and Tokyo.

IBT-
Osaka, Edo and Satsuma train horse->horse
English are building Hanging Gardens and Pyramids.
Eboracum(celt) founded nw of Tokyo.

470BC (4)-
hiring 2 scientists in Osaka and 1 each in Kyoto and
Edo shaves a turn of chivalry. all three cities can still train
horseman in 2 turns.
sell monarchy to celts for 11g.

IBT-
Kyoto and Tokyo train horse->horse
Woohoo!!! Lugdunum overthrew their oppressors and
have joined us!!! and a free pikeman to boot!

450BC (5)-
move 4 horse, 2 cats and 1 archer forward to Lugdunum.
Lugdunum->temple
Kyoto at size 12 and no extra food-sell granary for 15g.

IBT-
Osaka, Edo and Satsuma train horse->horse

430BC (6)-
not anything to do with workers except work on Lugdunum.

IBT-
Kyoto and Tokyo train horse->horse
Celts finish Pyramids, all ai except France working on Temple
of Artemis

410BC (7)-
nothing.

IBT-
Osaka, Edo and Satsuma train horse->horse
switch Satsuma to Hanging Gardens or it can be used as a
prebuild for Knights Templar. we have 23 horseman and by the
time we get chivalry, we will need around 3000g for upgrades.
so, figured one of the cities could build a wonder. next up can
change it back and you would just spend an extra turn on one horse.
Lagertero(Mayan) now sits sw of Tokyo and another Mayan city
lyes south of Kyoto.

390BC (8)-
Tokyo at size 12, but stil at +1 food.

IBT-
Kyoto and Tokyo train horse->horse

370BC (9)-
nothing.

IBT-
Osaka and Edo train horse->horse
Tikal(Mayan), which is just east of Edo, expanded its borders.

350BC (10)-
nothing.

Notes-
there are 3 workers in Lugdunum that have movement left. the other
workers are improving aound Lugdunum. we are 3 turns from chivalry
at +8g/turn and 275g in the bank. if the Hanging Gardens or any
other wonder is not wanted, that can still be changed.

Celts finished the Pyramids? Damn, I was hoping Persia would, so that the Celts could build ToA instead.

We can buy gems from Maya for 10 gpt, then we should be able to drop lux to 10%, freeing up 23 commerce. Our markets and libraries would turn that into 34 gold/beakers, netting our economy 24 commerce.

At 120 gold each, we aren't going to be able to upgrade most of our horses. Celtic towns look ripe, why not take a few of those with our horses? Just remember: declare war before crossing the border.

As for the wonder, KT would be best.

:bump:

Time's up. Again. Please withdraw from this game.

Hrm... the Celts still exist. They have a settler somewhere, because they only had the two cities at the start of the turn. Anyway, they'll give us 6 gpt for peace.

A lot of units have not yet moved this turn, most are in Agedincum and Camulodunum. They could begin to march on Greece, although our catapults won't be able to follow due to the marsh. We have 10 turns remaining on luxury trade with Maya, so we must not go to war with them.

Mining complete this turn near Tokyo, so the Samurai will also complete this turn. Tokyo can continue with Samurai every three turns, but need MM to 24 shields at -1 fpt every third turn.

I used Samurai as MP so the horses could go to war (delaying Golden Age), and built pikes so the Samurai would be able to go when needed. Change of guard next turn.

Edit: Knight's Templar done in 4 turns will trigger our golden age.

WooHoo! tripled our empire and the Pyramids too. :goodjob:

I've got it, will play tonight.

The plan is to consolidate on what we have and prepare a samurai force for the next player to attack the Maya and start our golden age. Hopefully Lagerto will have grown to 2 by then, they built it in a good spot for us. Do we want a pre-build for another wonder when KT finishes? Oops I see KT will give us our GA. Is that because we have the Pyramids? I still think Maya are the best option though.

KT is Mil and Rel, and would trigger our GA in any case.

MGLs, since we will inevitably get them:
1st = Army
2nd = Heroic Epic (unless we build HE from the ground up)

Why wait? We can march our horses on Greece while we build up the Samurai to take out the Mayans. It would be nice if one of our Elite Horses got a MGL, so we could have an army sooner. Would we want to put in Samurai, or the horses? I say Samurai, not all our Sam's are going to become elite and create leaders, so just take three and make an army if we get a MGL with our horses. Just my 2cents
