I recently upgraded my system and Im now able to play huge Pangea maps with up to 32 nations. I realised that playing that many nations can be difficult so I went down from Monarch to Regent and have now started several games but find myself as much as an entire era behind in tech and the AI are tradeing amongst themselves and Im unable to keep up.

For those who have played very large maps with Max civs what advice do you reccomend?

Should I change from Pangea to Continets?
Take expansionist Civs?
Early Warfare?

I normaly play Dutch, Russia or Ottomans but Im having no luck at all with any of them.

I've only played max civs on the world map. One Warlord and one Regent. Both conquest victories.

I think a huge map is even bigger than the world map so you may have more room to expand than I did. I was getting pinned in after four or five cities. Based on my experiences, I would recommend a nation with a strong early UU (Persians, Romans, etc.) that can hep you free up more land early on. And I would say that early warfare is a must. It only gets harder to take civs out and having more land than any other civ gives you a major boost in production and research capabilities.

I didn't have major tech problems in my games. In my Warlord game, only two civs really got dangerously ahead of me but I managed to catch up and eliminate them. In my Regent game, I did some really great AA tech trading and was tech leader from the beginning of the Middle Ages onward.

Send out explorer parties, make many contacts and trade, trade and trade your way towards victory, you also amass alot of gold and workers etc. with trading so :). Pangea has very fast tech speed and many wars, islands (archi-whatver) do not.

I have played on 250x250 with 30 nation (the max opponents), going back to PTW (only 24 nations then). Many of the games were played as AW on Emperor and 2 on DG.

Toss out the DG, because they are unreal and we lost one. If you want to play on the default huge size, you probably will have problems. The AI will meet a lot of others quickly.

If you really need to play with that many, you should use a larger map. At least 200x200. You need to at least scale up the cost factor. I forget the values, but on 250 I use 650. I think huge is 400.

Make a new BIQ with the changes and you can make random maps. I think Greebly posted the one used in his games to save you the trouble. Note he changed the movement for boats to deal with the larger size. I would not have done that as the game did no scaling from tiny to huge for movements. It did for cost factor.

Here is how I came up with my scale:

Map tiles:
std = 100x100 = 10000; 5000 tiles in CAII; 240 CF (1.0); 1x
huge = 160x160 = 16960; 12800 tiles in CAII; 400 CF (1.66); 2.56x
sup200 = 200x200 = 40000; 20000 tiles in CAII; 530 CF (2.21); 4x
sup250 = 250x250 = 62500; 31250 tiles not tested; 650 CF (2.71); 6.25x

There is no way to prevent them from getting ahead of you in the tech race early in the game. The thing that comes to mind on the research is to use the NO BARB option.

That and the higher cost factor will slow the pace a bit. Then you have to do like any game, get bigger than they are.

I was useing a max size map (360?/360?) and doubled movement for units. Do I need to make the spacing between civs much bigger? I hadnt increased costs at all but the ship movement which IMHO is way to Short to beign with was doubled up. Im now thinking about tripling the ship movement. I will turn off barbs and goody huts.

I reached Rep and then met a nation that had Cavs. I dont mind being behind in tech at 1st and then clawing my way out throght he middle ages but that was too far gone. I also had crappy starting places being in the corner of the map on a pennisula. Thats what I get for having a seafaring nation but it was boxed in after 6 cities.

Im going to give it a try and up the agression so the AI will fight each other more.

Largest is 362x362 and I only played that once. You cannot fill all the space in 250x250 as the city limit of 512 will be reached and no more can be made. I do not really see any big need for much movement boast for ships.

You should not expect to send a boat from one end to the other in a few turns. You cannot do that on even a std map. The idea is to make the boats in towns that are closer to the target. Not travel the whole world.

You should not be down in tech at Regent after you get into the second tier of the Middle Ages. I would not expect to be down in the AA, if no huts. If you are then probably you are not expanding as well as you would be expected.

Remember they have no bonus, so all you have to do it be more efficient in town management and get bigger than them.

I would not worry about the spacing for start locations. You really must boost the CF to match the map size. Note you may have to not allow culture as the game will reset it to 100k. That is too low for massive maps. Even a huge map is 160K.

Use the chart I made to figure out the scale for CF on 362x362. You could just use 800 and that should be fine. Not really the correct ratio, but it will work fine.

I looked at El Mencey's 362x362. It used 750 for a cost factor, so that would seem fair. It does not change movements for any boats, also what I would use.

I ran the numbers and a 362 comes out like this:

131044 (362x362), 59,006 tiles in CAII. If cost factor 750, then it is 3.125 times the std. The map has 11.80 times as many tiles, so 3x CF should not be unreasonable. I mean that is not even twice the CF for a huge, which is much smaller than a 362.

Edit:

I forgot you asked about city placement distance. It was unchanged at 50. Note that his map is an earth map with placed start locations, but the BIQ will generate random start locations.

362 is really much too large to be any fun. It is more useful as something like an SG where you have a reason to push on and can share all that work. Loading the game and running a turn, once you get hundreds of towns down, will really hurt.

Edit2:
Aggression settings are not required, just leave them as normal.

I ran a test on 200x200 Monarch Pan map and used Roaming barbs, never really trailed in techs. I mean you are down this or that one against A or B for the first tier or so, but by Philo they were not ahead. You will run into someone that pop a late AA tech. I met a nation with Construction, but did not have several of my techs.

After the entry to the Middle Age and the free tech for a couple it was no looking back. I only put down 13 towns, before I was surrounded. That was a choice, especially ignoring the large desert to my SW.

Spartanism, not sure if you are still around, but with 46 post you probably will be back. So I am going to put up the game I played using the settings you were talking about and the changes I had suggested.

You can then judge how you may want to choose your next game. So here goes:

"I recently upgraded my system and Im now able to play huge Pangea maps with up to 32 nations.

Early Warfare?"

Given these issues, I figured I would go ahead and run a test to see, if what I suggested would in fact work.

I cranked out a map at 200x200, 31 civs, dist 30 (up from 24 for huge), OCN 44 and Cost Factor 530.

It is 70%, the middle of the three for water, pan map with roaming barbs. I went with that as the game will be played at Monarch. I did not want to drop it down to Regent. That would not be a good test.

Main rule, no major exploits or breaking rep on purpose. I say that as it is not impossible to mess up, I just won't do it by design.

I drew Joan and started near the top center of the map. Looks great with a river and two wheat tiles in sight, so I found on the spot. Not going to make this a real blow by blow. I start a warrior and the worker moves to the wheat. I now see a third one. A hut is in the expanded borders, so I am going to try something.

No need to worry about who is in the game as everyone is in the game. I start on Writing at 20%. I will go road and then water as I will have lots of growth. I will go for the commerce first.

I decided to pull a fast one and switched the warrior to barracks. This will let the border expansion pop the hut. As we will have no troops, we are sure to not get barbs. I will switch back after the pop and lose 4 shields. I hate to lose them so early, but it is a good investment.

I got CB from the hut and switch to a warrior. I will not send out any scouting units right off, as we need the MP duty for a time. I look again at the start and it is really super in that it has 7 BG tiles and a hill as well as 3 wheat. I see ivory not far off to the south and another wheat to the north.

I probably should roll another, but I do not want to waste any more time. I do something I normally do not do here and that is to make a worker now from the capitol. We are going to grow too fast.

3100BC
William shows up. He offers Pottery for Mason, no thanks. I will wait. Not getting out right away will cost me a tech or two, but I prefer to get solid and be able to expand. These AA techs will be cheap as we met a number of nations, especially if they do not have writing.

2950BC
I see furs not far off, I hope that does not signal tundra and coast are near as well. Got a warrior scouting finally.

2710BC
The second scouting warrior went on a diag to the SE and popped Pottery. With that in hand, I call up King William and see what he will give for Mason now. He goes for WC and 7 gold, so we do a deal.

2670BC
I see a Magyar conscript, so I wonder if my friend William lost his warrior. Need to go 10% for one turn.

2630BC
Got BW from hut. I see the Magyar barb forts up? I am making an archer to deal with that nonsense. Settler heads for the west to get on a river and grab the furs.

2470BC
Found Orleans and it starts a worker. I have seen a Ivory in several places so far.

2350BC
I got another tech from a hut and now I run into several barbs parked on mountains. These are a different tribe.

2310BC
I found three barbs so far, so I suspect the unit that popped the hut did not make it.

IBT
I should have looked closer. The units were not all barbs. Two units attacked the barb and both died. Then a barb attacked me and it died. I have no new contact, not sure who it was. I have a 31 color palette, but some colors are so close...

2270BC
Pop The Wheel.

2230BC
I see Theo and we have the same techs.

2190BC
Meet Shaka and they have no new techs and are down some. Did not check, which ones.

2150BC
Met Cathy and Sultan Osman. Ottoman are down 2 techs and Shaka 1 and Cathy is up IW.

I have Lyons up now. I started a Granary in Orleans now and will chop trees. The Ivory is connected now that Lyons is up. So 2 lux in.

2030BC
Cathy offer IW for 210, but Homey don't play that. I do not want to feed them cash for AA techs. They will be cheap soon and I could still pop them. Not real likely with so many nations, but you never know.

1990BC
We do not make the list of the top 8 advanced nations according to Livy.

1910BC
The Sultan offered Math for something and 340 gold. BTW I always tell them not a chance to annoy them, since they have the nerve to be cautious to me for no reason. Each town has at least one wheat and there are 4 in or near Paris. I would swap some for cows.

1750BC
Put up a few embassies and see 179 and 89 turns for Pyramid buids. Start Philo at 100%.

1725BC
Found the coast to the West. Found Rheim on the coast to the north. Ran into Ottoman empire to the east and have to go around. Start a boat now that I have a coastal town. Rheim will be connected next turn.

1600BC
Pop HBR
Trade Writing to The Sultan for IW and 3 gold. Then trade Writing to William for Math, but had to toss in 80.

Just a note to any fledgling players. The order of the trades is often critical. Once you trade Writing, it lowers its value, so you may no longer get a tech for it as was the case here.

Philo will be done in two turns, so I should be safe as long as no one pops it.

1550BC
I took MAP for my free tech and start on Currency. I see Iron next to Lyons. I am putting up a temple in Paris as I am going to start on SoZ.

(will put up the rest later. Have to go pick up the boss lady at the Airport, always fun)

1500BC
I finally notice the horses, but it will be a time, before I can get the land. I am not making settlers right now, but will start some soon. I have to put of a temple in Lyons to get the Iron. I am making a wonder in the capitol. Orleans will be free next turn.

1350BC
Update Theo declares on us. I saw it coming and had moved a vet archer towards Lyons, which had a reg spear.

Archer killed warrior and goes elite 3/5. Two warriors think better of attacking the spear, so they hit the archer. Archer kills both and is 1/5. I moved back to our land and will be in town next turn.

I got a galley out last turn maybe? I pop Lit. I sent the galley to the west as I can see 4 capitols to the east. That suggest it would be a long time and distance to find a new nation going east. I cannot get a second galley out right now as I need to go for settlers.

I am a bit surprised to be attacked at this level with so much open land still around. I check on the F1 screen and sure enough I am weak compared to her. Likely compared to any. The good news is she is far away. The bad news is she is on the coast, so I will see Dromons later in the game. Probably not this war as I doubt she has MM and I am too lazy to look right now.

Lit is not much use right now as I cannot make Libs nor the GLB.

1300BC
Worker paving the way for a settler spots Incense. That will make the game easy.

1225BC
I have met Japan, Sumeria, Korea and apparently Hiawatha. I did not realize I had met Iroq. Japan is already annoyed with us?

I saw a Sword of the lovely Theo heading out. I should pick up Iron with my new town next turn.

1125BC
Met Hannibal.
Send a 3/3 warrior against a Byz town and it kills the spear and does not lose a HP, go figure. I was just writing it off. In fact my 5/5 archer and my 4/4 spear all kill Byz warriors with no damage. I suspect I will hear from Theo wanting to kiss and make up.

1100BC
She wants peace, but has nothing to offer, so I say no. Let here send more troops and we will leader fish. I switch an archer build to a sword. I will soon get an AC as I finished the SoZ in 1150BC. I am working on MoM in Orleans. Found Marseilles a few turns back. Worker making a road on the Incense hill. I popped a warrior a turn or two back.

Paris is making a market. CoL in a few turns.

1075BC
I let Cathy talk me out of MM for Poly. Not a good idea, but I want to get out of the AA.

1050BC
I met Inca.

1125BC
Start on Republic.

1000BC
Meet Vikings.

750BC
not much going on, met Rome, Henry and Greece recently. I have not traded techs, even though several know Construction. It has the GW, so they value it too highly. MoM was done, I started the GLB a few turns back in Paris as a pre.
Rep next turn.

730BC
I revolt and this is nuts, I got 3 turns and no towns need specialist. Got to love Mnarch level with 3 lux.

Actually it is in part due to the low town count. Chartes was only my 6th on a 200x200.

I bite the bullet and trade Rep to Shaka for Construct, 8gpt and 150. I peddle it to two others for 60's gold. No one else had more than 10 gold. So I am in the Middle Ages. I will make peace with Theo after the revolt ends.

670BC
Byz lands a sword. 3/3 archer red lines it. 4/4 archer barely kills it and goes elite. I dial up the lady and we make peace and she gives 10 gold. I did not want that Dromon to go to work. Researching Feudalism. Disbanding a few reg archer/warriors to lower support cost. I have to use slider now as I lost the war happy factor.

Russia has Eng, but does not want to trade for Lit.

510BC
Update over due. Let me see what to mention. Well interesting, I have met only 15 of the 30 others. Three are so far back that they do not have Writing. About the same number are in the Middle Ages with me. I am up Feudalism.

I only traded for Eng and I am researching Mono as I want knights in a game like this. You just cannot risk waiting for Cavs and what if you do not have Salt?

I only got one boat out and it is still going. In std games, it would not be unusual to run into barbs, but I would not expect any barb ships to be around as the AI will fill most of the coast.

I switch the GLB to Sun Tzu as it will pay for itself by maint and the instant barracks. I will start a pre for KT in Orleans as soon as the market is done.

I am not peddling any techs as I do not wish to speed them up and they do not have enough gold. Later I may sell some to backward nations, if they are not too far back.

Well as soon as mention trades, I see Henry has two workers. I sell him Republic for his 11 gold and the two workers. I have traded that tech already anyway.

470BC
Well we are now on the list of powerful nation, even though it is only #6 and we are labeled pathetic.

450BC
All the wonders cascaded GW, GLB and Lighthouse. I switched the pre to a palace. It was a bit of a surprise that all three came in at once, but it is better. Now no one can roll to Sun Tzu or KT.

BTW SGL is enabled. Not being scientific I have not had one. It is only a small boost, but I seem to only get them when scientific.

Some pix:

390BC
Peddle Writing to Sumeria for 20 gold.
Trade Republic and maybe Lit to Rome for Monarch and about 70 gold.
Met Hammi and he is on a tiny island, nice job map generator. Could be worse I have seen them start on mountains.

I have disbanded 2 of the scouting warriors as they got into a no where to go spots. The last one is about to go the same way. Still have the galley out.

Mono during the IBT.
Had to go to 20% as Paris is size 12.

370BC
Start Chivalry. Osman (Ottoman) demands 40 and I laugh, so he DOW. I can drop the lux slider to 10 thanks to that. I was a bit concerned as I was thinking of the normal golden color for them, but they are sort of purple in this game. The golden color guys are right next door, whew.

I have not made a troop in some time, just the AC units that the SoZ gives. Going to look to upgrade, if I can find any spears with a barracks. I think I have two some place. I have one sword.

I forgot to mention Hammi does not even know Alphabet by 310BC.

270BC
trade some AA techs for workers from Vikes and Henry.
Chiv on the IBT.

250BC
Switch palace to KT due in 6 turns. Start on Theology as a peaceful guy this game. FP is going up as well. I break down and trade Mono, probably should not. I first wanted Incan worker and 90 gold. Then I figured they would just peddle it to Russia and Shaka, so I did it first. Got gold and about 50-60gpt from each of them.

It will at least slow their research. The Dutch dropped a town in my backyard on the coast. Not sure why it was so important at this point. No way they can expect to not loss it to a war or culture.

190BC
Two horses finally arrive and right by Genoble that is hosting two AC units. They make short work of the horses and I see Osman is willing to talk. I will wait for him to call. I only have 15 troops right now and no Knights, but I did start one going. Rheim does not have a barracks, but Sun Tzu will give it one, before the knight is finished.

170BC
met Cleo and she is looks better in her full pix than the one you get in F4. They should have made her better, she is a legend.

110BC
Start on Invention and I go ahead and use Sistine as a pre for Leo. At some point this game will get active as the land get hard to come by. KT is in BTW.

30BC
Osman wants to be paid for peace, even though he has lost many units? No problem as Paris finished Sun Tzu and starts on Knights. I met Brennus. Maybe the Sultan will enjoy some action from a crusader when one pops out.

10AD
I think we can now declare ourselves the winner. Louise Pasteur arrive from learning Invention. So we can rush Leo next turn as I will wait for the knight to finish. All that are in the MA are down three techs as I start on Gunpowder.

FP next turn as well. The start was just too strong for this level. I only have 12 towns, 3 are size 12 though.

Actually the land is disappearing, except the desert on the SW. I planted Dijon on a desert river tile. It has flood plains and a wheat. Next settler will go straight south as some space left next to Nippon.

I think what I would do next is to go ED and then Astro and use the pre for Copes as it is not needed for Leo now.

30AD:
Could not help it, traded Mono to Henry for 2 workers and 20 gold.
Rush Leo.

I see the borders are Hittite, so 19th nation?

My lone MDI wins his 3rd battle and still no promotion. I kill 3 more Ottoman units.

130AD
Henry tries to strong arm me for Eng, I call his bluff. MDI wins again, no promo. Three more Ottoman go down. Start on Ed. Hum need to see if I have Salt. One is on a mountain, between two of my towns. One will get a border pop, not sure if it will grab the Salt.

One more is close to me, but is also in between two Dutch towns. That is my backup. I will have to take those down in a bit anyway. I upgraded two elite archer as to me they are no good anyway. A LB could win a battle.

Soon I would be afraid to use an archer on even a red lined unit. Anyway I look more dangerous with LB as opposed to archers.

150BC
I should have gone to Monarchy as this is too many nations for this space. I am going to have to fight too often, I fear. I go ahead and make peace, after I kill his settler combo. AI, what an idiot. Walks a spear/settler off a hill to a plains right next to an elite AC and group that has a pike and a vet AC.

This is caused by using a go to, rather than move each turn and evaluate.

Cathy grabbed one of the spots to the south, so I move over a bit.

Given up the war cost me as I have to up lux to 20%.

Looks like I found Monty, now 20 known. He does not even know Math. Looks like he is on the mainland. Maybe had some wars, plus the town I see is all hills. I would bet the start was on one of those mountains.

170AD
Found town.

190AD
Volcano blows and Vikes town is right next to it, nice plan.
I see Osman has another spear/settler in the same place? Any spot around here would be an aggressive placement and make trouble. I should have put a unit on that hill to forestall anyone. I do move a unit to the next spot I want. Oh, I met Mao.

210AD
Russia demands Gun, not happening. They back down. Speaking of Salt, it is now in the borders, just need a road on those mountains.

Met Smoke #22. He is right next to Monty on that range of hills, ouch.
1st in Gold, Land and Pop, but only 3rd in cities. I have 13 and Ottoman and Inca has 15. I see the Inca as they surely had a GA, Ottoman was at war, maybe got a wonder GA? Not sure, if he has any. At least I see now why he sent as many units as he did. A lot for a Monarch level nation anyway.

My settler will be in place next turn.

230AD
Start on Astro.
I am parked next to Arabia, so 23rd.
Osman has entered my lands, so maybe some more war happy coming?

I opt to make a cath in Paris, may use it as a pre for Copes and let Sistine finish, not sure.

250AD
Looks like 1 of 23 does not have Alpha still. 1 lacks Writing. 2 lack Math and Philo. 5 lack CoL. 3 lack Lit and Map. 1 HBR. 2 Poly. 7 lack Currency and 7 lack Republic. 6 Monarchy. 4 Construction. 12 Mono, so 11 others are in the MA.

Feud 12 and 15 lack Eng. 17 missing Theology. same for Invention.
No one has Chivalry, Education or Gunpowder and the current tech Astro.

I still need to met 7 more.

I went through all this to see what I should sell. I had just traded Mono to Rome or they would be down that also for a worker and 20. I am going to take all their money and see if I can get a few to pay some gpt. Probably they are all broke save the top 3 or 4. Those I won't deal with as I want to hold them down.

They are going for the bottom techs, while I do the top. So I may deal with them once I get a few more top line ones.

280AD
I noticed Korea has had workers in the capitol for several turns, so they must be at war. I buy an embassy to see and they are fighting at least Henry. I cannot afford to get embassies with all the nations.

300AD
I decide to go ahead and research Music for Bach as it will be very useful on this map and I can afford the side tracking. Paris switches University to Copes. Going to trigger a GA with all these wonders. I am too lazy to see what to avoid.

I think I am in love. Queen Isabel meets me and I trade her Monarchy for Wines and her last 40 gold. Wow, I would have given more. 24th nation.

320AD
I may have missed it, but I see another salt right next to Orleans. I did not check CA, so I do not know if it was always there or a new source.

340AD
Start on Chem. No one has Ed, so I can go to the bottom. I am running out side of borders now that I have Astro to avoid being told to leave.

I have more than twice the number of units I am allowed, but if I do not have this many I can expect demands and wars. The French UU is too much for them to attack right now at 5 defense.

350AD
Delft flipped to me as I expected as it is cut off from them and near my capitol. I have to get a road to it.

I will not start Bachs, until Paris is done with Copes. Orleans will be done sooner and is only 1 shields less, but it has 2 more corrupted.

390AD
Sistine done.

400AD
Start on Metal, yeah it kills SoZ.

430AD
Copes done, start Bach. I have seen American galleys, but no official contact. It looks like some nations are in the interior and will have to wait for contacts to be traded.

520AD
England and Germany and maybe someone else seem to know me, so PP is getting around. If I count things right, I am missing two nations. I passed one border that looks new, so I will turn back for it. The one I am sure of is India, so one must be deep in the middle of the map.

I have cavs now and I am working on Banking, it is a 4 turner done in 3. Bach is going and a pre for Smiths. I have been disbanding AC as knights and now cavs come off the line. I love AC, but their time has past and I cannot afford to have that many units.

The problem here is that, once a war breaks out, you can expect a fair number of units. You need to have high win ratio or lots of units. You should expect the attacker will bring some friends. There are so many nations, you cannot bribe them all as a preventative move.

I was hoping to get a leader for an army, but that did not happen, so I cannot build the MA.

540AD
Brennus trades contact for Babylon and I got India. My boats see Persia, so I think that is everyone.

550AD
Persia does not know math. I start a 4 turner on Econ. I normally skip it, but I have time. This is a very boring game, with no wars. I still have lots of Polite nations, ugh. I will disband the galley as soon as it finishes it circumnavigation. Not much use of boats on this map.

I made an embassy with Ghandi just to see where they are located. Many of these polite nations do not have embassy contact.

590AD
Someone still does not know Alpha. The top five are down 5 techs to me right now and I am doing another 4 turner on Physics. I was hoping they would do Demo for me and I could trade Music, but not so far. If I could get Demo in a trade, I would research Free to get Shake.

I made the unusual play of wider spacing as I expected to get crowed and may want metro size, if I want to go kill them.

610AD
One thing about being smallish, you can improve all your tiles. I have now got a road on all the mountains.

630AD
Marie Caurie arrives with Phy, so I rush Smith with no pre. Start ToG as I have a pre with no place to use it. Two SGL units, sweet.

Bach is worked on in Paris and no others are available.

670AD
Ghandi wants to trade Ivory and 8gpt for his furs. I make it Ivory and Republic instead. I now have 5 lux, at least for a time.

680AD
Doing the last tech in 4. Switch palace to Newton in 6 turn. They required the same number of shields. I would have rather had it in Paris, but Bach is not quite done.

750AD
No one wants to fight, sigh. I sell Econ to anyone that had more than 40 gold. Total ll paid 300+ and they all pay at least 13gpt to 29gpt. The Celts paid the most over 200, 29gpt and PP.

I still see many Polite faces. Even Byz is polite. Steam in 2 and I have gathered the workers, in case we have coal. If not, will have to consider going to take some.

770AD
We have coal, only one. There is one just one tile over. I could take that with just dropping a town in my borders. Doing Electricity, then RP.

IIRC I tend to get a GA from Hoovers when playing France.

830AD
Research changed from RP to Free as I finally found a few with Demo. It is 4 turns at 50%.

930AD
Yahoo, looks like Bismark is planning a sneak attack. Not sure how he expects to sneak all the to my core and then declare? I have my main cities empty. This is not a trap by me, it just makes no sense to put units in the center of the empire.

He has to go over at least 4 mountains and then 3 or more grass tiles. Like I am going to just not see them at any time? I will let them get off the mountains and then see if he wants to DOW.

BTW I do not have rubber. I am still 4 turns from Industry. I know I make enough beakers to do Med and Sci Meth in 4 turns each. I decided to plant one more town. I am going to make a few more settlers to grab land from Japan soon.

960AD
I had to demand Biz remove units as Shaka has one in here as well. If I was going to have two wars, I wanted to know now. Shaka says he will leave, we will see. Bismarck goes to war. I hate the fact that I do not know where they are, nor could I reach them, if I did.

970AD
Shaka moves in more units, so I ask him again and he wants war as well. Two nations, not that many troops, but I do have rails to all towns. I will see if I can get Sumeria to join at a decent price. Mainly I need an RoP to reach Shaka as I know where some of his towns are.

Start Med in 4.

Can't make an alliance, whoops need an embassy. Make one and shock Sumeria goes for an alliance Vs Zulu with nothing added.

Will wait on RoP till I clear my land and can go on the attack.

980AD
Oh baby, look here dice (stolen from Keith McCready), I got a leader. Form cav army and stuff in 3 cavs. It was an AC. I rewarded him by disbanding, that is pasture right?

Make RoP and send army to kill. It runs over a knight. I hate to kill Zulu units that could be capturing Sumeria land. I want them to take a few of the towns close to me, so I can take them from them.

I was about to abandon this game as it was so boring, but now I have action.

1010AD
I grabbed Mpondo last turn. It has salt, so maybe they have no other. Started Sci Meth.

1020AD
Magical thinking as many keep wanting this or that crazy deal. Gil offered World Map for mine, 400+, Med and gpt. I could hardly wait to take that deal, but I manage to resist. Med alone is worth 2666 on this map.

1030AD
I captured Umtata and it has Rubber. The bad news, no roads at all and Sumeria does not have roads on any tiles in Bad-tibira, which is next to me. I need workers to get them up as it looks like the Inca are about to get froggy and leap. I am not sure it is on me, but it looks like it.

1040AD
Yup, it was me. They attacked two cities and kill a crusader in one and a musketeer in the other. Sure wish I had that rubber. At least I did not trigger a GA. I had moved the crusader in to take the lose, rather than a cav.

Captured Inca town in the desert next to me, thanks.

This is a bit of an unusual game for me. I dial up Toku to bribe him into fighting Inca, but he jumped in for nothing. I should mention I have not been spending on lux in a very long time.

1050AD
Switch pre to ToE in 4. I can squeeze in Corp in 4 as well.
Shaka is having bad runs on Gil. The Enk has killed every attacker, even a cav.

1070AD
Finally got another leader form 2nd. It came form an AC, none of the elite cavs so far have one. I captured Bad-tibira after Shaka took it from my friend Gil. I am now able to start some workers that way.

I want to get the town, I cannot see it, that is to my right as it is between me and the rest of the empire. It is not in contact with my other land, but should help and give continuity.

I made peace with Germany for some town and I abandon it as it was far off and a junker. I see the Zulu town, it is Swazi.

1090AD
Paris is growing again. We finish ToE and Corp. Get AT and Elec for free. Capture Swazi. 1st finds another town while grabbing a worker. Road to Bad will finish next turn. Have to take care as Shaka has cavs. Some fool joined Shaka in an embargo.

I spot the next lux possibility as Dyes are not far from Zimbabwe. Not sure if all are Alex's or not.

Start Refine. Research slows as I have to pay more for troops and all my gpt deals are gone. I could peddle more stuff, but I am too lazy.

Paris is now going to make army units. I am not even going to make Stock Ex, till I cap out on armies.

I just noticed that Swazi used to have salt. It is now out side the collapsed borders, so maybe that is Shaka's last one? We can hope. It cannot be too long till some of the science boys get Nat as a free tech and make it cheaper for my foes.

1100AD
capture Hlobane.

1110AD
What has been a surprise is that no nation was eliminated, all are still here.

1130AD
Cav makes leader and I form the 3rd. Will switch something to the Pentagon. Inca has sent a number of units to my newly aqquired towns. The good news is I have been able to get the road done and all save 1 have a rail, so I can send over help now.

1140AD
Hard call, but I switch the army due next turn to the Pentagon. They are both 400 shields. Need that 4th unit for those rifles.

Gil made peace, so I can end the war, when I am ready. I have workers on the rubber, so next turn I get my infantry and things will be easier. I have to use the army to attack and defend right now.

1150AD
Upgrade all Musketeers as I am sure that Hoover will trigger the GA.
I do have oil and a worker will road another source in the new land next turn as it happens. Armies are 4 man now.

1160AD
Captured Isandlwana. Two armies next to Zimbabwe. I think I will give peace after I take that one. It looks like they have 6 towns. I should get at least one in the peace deal.

1170AD
Took Zimbabwe and made peace. They gave two towns. I abandon one in the jungle.

I am not number 1 in score on F8. 1st in the four shown in CA. My 7% of the land is good enough for 1st.

1200AD
Hoovers comes in and we have our GA. Combustion in 4.

1240AD
Start Flight in 4.
Looks like Henry needs to be watched as LB is in our land.

1250AD
It is a war and I get another leader from the long bow. Form and fill the 5th. Now I have two wars and neither are in range. Japan has not made peace and our deal has ended. I prefer for them to make peace first, so will wait till then or till Inca contacts me.

I went around and offered my territory map to get as much data as I could. I put up embassies with all that are not at war now.

Watch out for the Dutch as they said they could not made an offer. That is likely they plan an attack.

I switch my pre to Wall St, so it is in two. Paris is making armies at 4 turn rate during the GA. It is now 16 in pop. I see Rome knows Sanitation, but I do not want another Metro. I only made 2 factories. I have to wait to get more towns as I am way past my support. I have 26 towns and a settler on its way. I spotted a hole to fill. It is surrounded by jungle and marsh, but that can be cleared later.

1255AD
Well now we have action. 5 nation DOW me, China, America, Germany, Vikes, Zulu. Inca and Henry already at war.

I expect to get into real dog pile, but so what? I peddle Electricity to the three that know steam. I get some tech and a world map and lots of gold. I now see all.

I got a never accept for an alliance, so maybe I have damaged my rep or else they are planning to attack. I made peace, but my alliance had expired.
I got Greece, Carthage and Korea to ally against the Vike at no cost. So it would seem my rep is ok, the other had other reasons.

I do not expect much help, just want to get the lands near me in battles and see if any change hands and they will slow down the vikes.

I capture a Zulu town and raze another. Clear my land of invaders and recapture some slaves they took on the IBT. Flight in 2.

1260AD
More embargo deals, I have no trades anyway. Lots of deals could be done, but with this many nations, it is too much work.

1265AD
Leader, but need more towns. Henry sent another 11 horses that foolishly pass by three armies and take hits. Start a bomber. Mass Prod in 4, got to love a GA during the IA.

Belay that, I capture Bapedi and now can form another army. Shaka is gone, first one out.

1280AD
Japan gets more piling on them. Henry wants peace, not right now.
Capture Evora and it has Salt and Coal.

1290AD
China wants peace, so I agree. They never sent any units. The land is all jungle, hills and mountains, so it is slow getting around. I had autorazed a town last turn and I had no settler to reach it for several more turns.

No roads exist. Started Motor last turn.

Japan is losing towns.

1300AD
Capture Faro. Another army comes out next turn and Motor will finish on the IBT.
I was hoping some of the wars would lead to a few towns near me being taken, so I could get them. The AI is just too slow and weak.

I do not really like tanks, especially on the terrain I am dealing with. The extra movement is needed.

1305AD
We are modern now, so I start on Comps in 5. All infantry and cav builds switch to tanks. Paris can make them in one turn.

Captured Oslo, while Vikes tried to take on Hippo. I now have Dyes, so sweet. More and more MPP and Embargo deals. Too many to worry about. The dyes means that I will not have to use the lux slider to deal with loss of GA.

IBT
Korea made peace, so I do not have to worry about that alliance. Japan allies with Bismark, yeah. Now I can annex those lands.

1310AD
Capture Nagoya from Japan, but it has no roads, so I have to wait on the next town.
Capture another Vike town.

I swap maps with Gil as I do not want to deal with those mountains right now, so I keep him polite. A harder call was William. I decided to just give him 10 gold and not push. I do want to fight him as he is right on top of me and it is mostly good land. I just would like to get MI first.

1315AD
Finally form an army with the last leader. Last cav army.
Capture Kagoshima.

1330AD
The last two Nippon towns are gone, before I can get to them. The lack of roads made it impossible.

1340AD
Got another leader and form 10th Tank army.
Still running no lux slider. No imports.

1345AD
I see I did not really have embassies with everyone. I buy some more, a few left, but we are at war. Looks like Osman has forgotten the spanking I gave him as he approached with a small stack. Yup he does declare on us. I guess MI, bombers and tanks do not scare him.

Fill the 11th tank. Need more towns again.

1355AD
Got lazy and failed to check my beakers, so it took an extra turn to learn Rocket. Start on Ecology to get to Modern Armor.

Hiawatha joins the fray against me. I can reach him, but I am busy already.
Belay that, I capture Tonawanda.

1375AD
Paris makes an army next turn. I have cut across to both coast from the old Zulu to the Vikes. Retook Athens as they had captured it from Alex. I am closing in on making all the jungle in the area accessible. Just making a road and then a rail from one town to the other.

My worker count is so low, but I cannot afford to raze towns, I need them all.

Ecology comes in turn, which will help with the metros. Yes, I put one in Orleans. MA units need a lot of shields.

1380AD
Capture 1 from Hiawatha and 1 from Henry.

1385AD
Getting to be a lot of work. I made peace with Henry as we have been at a long time. I then see a lot of Inca units come in, so he declares again. This time he has some old Nippon towns near by, so no free ride.

I think I have 8 at war now and more than that with embargo deals.
I was holding the 12th empty waiting for MA units, but I may have to fill it.

1390AD
Let America have peace, when they asked. They are far away and are not sending much.

1400AD
Hiawatha wants peace, but would give no towns. I am inclined to stay on nations I can eliminate soon. I need to lower the field. Vikes are down to 3 or 4 now.

1405AD
Eliminated the Vikes. Took one of Japan's towns back from Inca. Need to soon start working on Rome as some now they are the best AI. They are not that big, but have a ton of gold to fuel research.

MA army up, so I just need to connect all those towns I have in SW to speed things up. It takes too long to get the armies back right now. Two turns should get that done.

7 nations still at war with me. Rome as over 11k. If they do declare I will focus on them to take that gold and cripple them. Researching Fission to get the UN done. No one even has flight.

I have 16% of the land now and Inca as 5.

1415AD
Korea declares. They have only 5 towns and they are next to the old Viking lands, so This will let me push to the coast on that point (SW).

1415AD
Korea declares and I take two towns. Cleo has MPP, and declares, 9 nations at war with me now. The only reason I do not take down more of Korea's towns is lack of roads. I take a town and it has no roads and I cannot build them for fear of cavs taking the workers.

It looks like the number of towns was around 220. It will go up a bit as I start to squeeze in a few in the holes the AI likes to have.

So a 200x200 will not come close to max cities, while a 250x250 will easily hit the limit? Well playing as AW will close the gap some.

Silks come online, a donation from the Viking people. It seems Iron Works could be built, but I do not care for the pollution. Most of the time it is in a town that need about 100 turns anyway.

1420AD
Several more embargo announcemnets.
Captured Wonsan.

1425AD
Capture Seoul, Korea is OCC.
Captured Satsuma from Inca, old Japan city.
Captured Nara from Inca, old Japan town. Inca is no longer on my borders.

1430AD
Start on Miniaturization to get the Internet. Switch pre to UN.
Capture Salamanca

1435AD
Cleo sends 10 knights. I sunk one of her galleons last turn with arty and a cruise. I like to keep 1 or 2 on hand for those boats that can be pinged by guns. I was moving 2 armies to start to hurt Osman, but I may have to hold off with 3 or 4 nations sending in groups.

One of the real pains in a game with more than the normal nations, is you are hard pressed to check on everyone. I see 2 Osman units turn around. You never know why, are they under attack elsewhere or just tired of losing units? I do not recall seeing any DOW messages. The AI will often turn around and then turn around again in a turn or three.

Found New Orleans to fill one of those holes.

Cav makes a leader, been a while. I have not used that many solo units of late.

Spoke too soon, MA makes a leader back to back. Formed 14th and 15th.
I have an army coming out of Paris next turn as well.

Capture Denizli from Osman. Maybe he turned around as he knew I was coming, nah.
The army is damaged, but the lack of roads means they cannot reach me either this turn.

Razed Inch'on and then there was 26.

1440AD
Osman wants peace and AT, that sounds like a great idea. Let me see, over 6000 beakers, no one else knows it. You are losing units and now towns, so I should give AT, what are you smoking. He would be insulted, if I asked for anything, hum.

15th filled, new army empty. Settlers coming out to fill another 2 holes.

1445AD
Arabia shows up with Answar. I think I lost my mind as I traded electricity to China for Spies. The to Russia for alliance on Ottoman. I wanted to trade Steam to Greece to get them in trouble, but I do not see who they could fight that is close enough to take away town from Alex.

I think I will have to just DOW him soon. He is in the middle of my towns and has Gems, that means death.

Marseillies will finish the UN next turn.
I switch Manhatten to CIA.

I have 24 units to clear out, before I can think about Alex.

Looking at Thermopylae, we see in the fat cross a BG. It does not even have a road. Two of them actually. Jungle next tile from the town, still not cleared. Figure this town was founded in 3000BC range, that are really on top of it.

1450AD
England declares on me as an ally of Ottoman empire. Several MPP deals went down, so I am sure more DOW will be heard.

Did not take long, my first bomber caused India to declare. Up to 10 now.

Captured Niag Falls, Hia is 2CC. Near to Byz now, so I can work on them soon.
Found the two towns to fill gaps.

Ottoman has only about 60 units.

The first AI to AI war in forever as India's MPP with Ottoman got them into war with Russia. So I guess Cathy finally found an Ottoman unit.

Start on Space, but I cannot launch as the game crashes. A lowly cav kills an MI during the IBT. True the MI was yellow, still...

1460AD
About 6 embargo deals are announced, no new wars. I see an opportunity to get gems with no fight and make it easier to get at Gil, when the time comes. I had a border pop that makes it so I can drop a new town in the hills. It will bring in one of the gems. It looks like they are not even connected.

Went ahead and declared on Alex and took 4 of his 5 towns. Get the last one next turn. He was just letting Cleo send too many units through as well as Germany. I could not see them, until they burst into my land. Not to mention the ingrate signed a bunch of embargo deals.

Put 2 units in the 17th.

1460AD
Rome declares on Russia.

5th takes down Delphi with no damage and we are now down to 25. Alex never even connected the two dye next to it.

1470AD
Capture Ottoman town. Found another filler.

I could make a number of towns in the old jungles in Greek land, but I probably won't.

1475AD
A few wars break out as some add to the dog pile of Russia. Rome is the big one. He is sending a stack right at my land. I think they are going for the Russian town, but once he enters I will dial him up and tell him to leave. I would expect that will get a DOW.

Embargo are declared by the handful. Is there someone that is not in an embargo against me? If Caesar does not DOW, then I will hit Sumeria. I do not like having towns behind me and I have started the roads in the mountains and swamps to ease the access as much as I can for the day the day it goes down.

Almost everyone of the nations at war with me are in democracy. Rome is a fat target with over 17k. I really do not need the money though as I have 12K.

Don't forget I still have an RoP with Gil, that needs to be canceled and then declare.

I have 82 towns and the next one still has 13.

1480AD
Not Rome coming, it is England, wearing redcoats.

I suspect William is about to jump off as well. I noted a bunch of his units heading my way. They may be after Russia, but that is not the direct route. He also had a warrior parked in the desert for 150 turns or more and it just moved right at one of my towns.

I will hold off on Gil, until I see what does on.

Slept again and missed out on a turn of research. Space comes in with slider at 0. Should have looked at generating enough to finish last turn, just lazy.

Get a leader and make 19th, did not put into the 18th as it only has 1 move left.
Got another leader form 20th.

Capture Mugla.

Another leader, but I need one more town to make an army.
Send out a settler to make a town in the jungle.

1485AD
Byz declares on Russia.
I made peace with Cleo. As long as they ask for only peace, I accept.

I start on Stealth as you can reach out and touch someone from a distance.
I see Henry is moving my way, but I have a hunch he is not after me, need to look carefully.

I am going to gamble that both William and Henry are after Cathy. As long as they are not able to reach an empty town, I should be fine either way.

1490AD
Carthage and Persia DOW Russia.

Even though I know that Hannibal and Henry are after Cathy, I am afraid that they may not want to pass up some of my empty towns. I tell Henry to go and he declares, so 11 now at war. I can only tell Hannibal to withdraw, he probably will.

I grab Nampo from Henry. Edrine from Osman. I will combat replace Edrine as it is a metro.

1495AD
Rome buys several others in on Russia.
Hannibal leaves as I threaten war.

1500AD
Capture two towns from Henry.
Fill 20th, 21st empty still.

Made peace with Inca.

1505AD
Peace be upon Bismark.

Grab 2 cities from Osman. He is still sending out a number of infantry.
Capture 2 from Henry and autoraze another.
Hannibal retreats again.

1510AD
The lovely Theo ask for peace, so I could not say no. Being in a good mood I agreed to peace with the Hittites. Russia asked for an alliance against Carthage and I agree, I am tired of chasing him out.

Capture and abandon next to last Iroq town. It was too hard to defend as it in Inca lands. Will raze their last town to get them out of the game.

Hannibal is down to two cities and I already started on one.
Captured more towns of Henry.
Started on Super.

Rome and William have Flight. The Dutch do not have Oil. Rome has gotten so strong and they lack Iron and Salt?

As soon as I can clear Carthage and Henry, I need to turn on Rome or William.

1515AD
Rome brings in Celts on Russia.
Here comes the rubber hitting the road as William males peace with Russia. On their way back is the time I have to sweat a sneak attack.

Hannibal is a memory and now it is 25?

Henry lost two more towns. He has 4 squeezed in the SW tip. All flat, next turn maybe.

Capture two more of Osman towns. He is down to 4. Got another leader.

1520AD
A few more pile on Cathy. Then Caesar makes a mistake. He demands Iron and declares, when I decline. His bigger mistake was not striking any towns.

Take last Iroq city and gift to Russia.
Capture Lisbon.

Capture Rome metro.

1525AD
Rome drags in America on me and some others on Russia. I get bombed once.

Henry is gone, 24.
Osman is OCC.

1530AD
Many sign up with Osman on an embargo? I guess they do not realize he is dead.

I see Rome has jungles all around the core. They only had 13 towns, not able to clear much jungle in 5500 years.
Capture Antium for 1900 gold. I am combat replacing all those metros.

Ottoman are history. I have cut the land from coast to coast across the north. 23 left now.

1535AD
Capture Rome for 1990.
Capture Rav, missed the amount.
Captured Cumae for 2050.

They are down to 7 towns, I am 1st in gold now with more than 25k.
Started on Satellites in 4 turns.

Keep an eye on the Celts, but they are not in my land, so I cannot find out. I have rails to all towns. 23 armies up. 4 of the 5 nations I am at war with are in demo. Only Rome is in Fascism.

I have 122 towns now as I filled in a number of holes Looks like I got Spices from a some town, so 7 luxs now.

None of the nations send more than a few units in any turn, some none. All Knight or cav types. I guess Osman never had horses as I never saw his UU.

I cannot see any place that has Spice, it is in Veli. It should not be showing up in Cumae. It does not show up in F2? Well I will have it next turn anyway.

1540AD
Celts turn around.
Rome buys in China, using my money, well it will be soon.
China brings in Cleo, so I think it is up to 7.

Capture Pisae for 1504.
Raze a metro of Cleo.

Here is the mess they had right in the capitol (see pix).

1545AD
Got about 2100+ from veli.
Capture Viroconium for 2190.
Capture Hispalis, miss the gold, probably about 2200.

I plant a few more fill towns.

Got a leader form the 25th. Send one army off to the size 1 town in the jungle of Caesar's as I want him gone. He has 3 towns, 2 are size 1. Then I have to decide on Cleo or clear some more of my rear. Sumeria is still back there, but is tiny and blocked by mountains. I would like to jump on William, so may dial him up at that point and see if he leaves or fights.

1550AD
China sends 12 cavs in our lands, many get a ZoC hit. Looks like the Celts are after Russia, but I keep taking the town they are going after.

Rome made another town, but I razed it and captured two others. They have 1 left as far as I can tell. They have 71 units still. Many are moving towards me.

1555AD
Got over 3500 for the last town and Rome is gone, 21 left. Russia is down to 2.
DOW Cathy, she was Gracious, sorry. Capture a town, but cannot reach the last one.

Capture two metros from Cleo. I have Satilites and start on Nuclear Power in 4.

Top 5 goes like France, Inca (half our score), Maya, Ottoman (gone) and Celts.

Captured two additional metros from Cleo. Looks like she has 6 left.

Babylon is at war with me and they are still in the AA. I have 8 at war currently.

1565AD
Tried to be nice to Cleo and offered peace for Giza. It is size 2 and I would have just abandoned it, but no deal.

Captured 3 more and she has 3 left. Breda (Dutch has been sitting alone surrounded by me for over 200 turns and not flipped. It does not even have a road on any tile.

Decided to throw my weight around. Gave Mongols Espionage for war against India. Same deal for Celt, but against Egypt. Here I want to just get her out of the game and the tiny Giza is out of my way.

Gave Spain Electricity for war on China. I do not expect much form these, just hope for a little action. At least Giza out. The Celts also have a lot of units near me and I would prefer them to leave.

1570AD
Leader form 28th, one just came out of Paris as well. 27, 28 are empty.
Captured Pi Ram.

1575AD
Leader forms 29th.
Genetics in 4.
Two turns in a row I caught Cleo with inf/settler combo. None shows in F3.
Capture Heliopolis. Giza is all that is left.

I send out an army as the AI is so lame, it may not take out the size 2 town.

1580AD
William declares as I tried to plant a spy. I grabbed two towns inside my borders. Then as I attack Rotterdam I see oil next to it and no road. He only has 3 roads down in this key city. He has been in the area the whole game, that is really sad.

Capture 3 more Dutch towns. 27th filled. 2 empties still. Once this is wrapped, I will take out Gil. That will mean no towns behind me. Then I will kick Brennus out and see, if he wants war. Need to find where Wines are. I think the Celts have some. Yup, this map has spread lux all around. I have seen Ivory from one end to the other.

1585AD
Sure enough Giza is not even attacked. I capture it and gift it to Spain. This gets my army back home and the town may cause trouble for someone now. Cleo is gone, so I guess we are down to 19.

6 at war right now.
Capture more Dutch towns, they have 4 left.
Aztecs, Babylon, and Hittites were on tiny islands so never had more than 1 town. Persia did better they got 2 towns on their island.

18 nations left. I have 44% of the land now. I could get down more towns, but I need roads and to clear danger.

1590AD
Many wars break out with England and even China is jumped by Germany. This is what you get, when the land is gone.

1595AD
More wars break out in the SE.
Leader form 30th.
Dutch 2CC.

Start Laser in 4.

1600AD
More war, mostly Vs England. William down to 2 towns and sends out a cav to capture a few workers. I did not think he had any left or would have covered them.

Take the last two and no more Dutch. The Hague is so close it acts like a core city.

Dial up Gil and suggest a war. Take two of his towns and surround the rest.

1605AD
Celts want an Alliance and RoP Vs Hittites. The are a one town island, so I can see where he needs my help and my roads. I declined.

Take 4 of 6 towns from Gil.

1610AD
More wars in the South.

Sumeria out, 16 left. Celts will be next. 30th filled BTW.

1615AD
Byz declares after signing and alliance with India. The worse move on their part is they signed, after their moves. Good for me as I have many workers on their borders, They are small, so it won't take long.

Byz down to 2 towns, will be out next turn.

India sends a scary unit, the pike to attack.
Bye Bye Theo and now it is 15.

form and fill 31st.
Inca DOW after I failed with a spy. I picked them as they have flight and are next to me. I wanted to go for the Celts, but they do not have flight. Smoke has it as well, but he is far away. I have 50%.

The sent no one.

I forgot to mention that I gave peace to America a few turns back.
Captured 8 cities. I found many more towns. We now have 188 and Inca has 10.

Well the game would already be over, if my Space Launched worked. I did not build parts, but I could have had them done about now. I am starting Smart Weapons, with just SDI tech after that.

Leader form 32nd and fill it.
Wow MA dies on MDI.

Grab 7 more Inca towns and they are on life support. The last three are in jungles. I think we can declare victory at this point with 53% land and 56% pop.

So to me 200x200 is too small for 31 nations, probably need closer to 250. It is plain that 31 civs are not a problem with just straight play at low levels like Monarch. It would have been a bit more of a pain, if lux where not spread all over.

Thanks vmxa

I realy do appreciate your time and effort into helping me. My present game is on hold but Ill be going again soon.

As a side note did you adjust corruption because of the size of map?
Would the lowering of corruption be a long term gain but a short term loss vs the AI?

No I only made the changes mention, CF and dist. Corruption is not an issue in my book. I only use the core to do all the units. All those corrupt towns, will get scientist. Republic let me use some near core towns to research, with out specialist.

Normally I would play a game like this as Always War and be in Monarchy, so near core towns would not be productive.

I do not think anything can help the AI without the bonus it gets at DG or better. I was surprised at the lack of ground at this size. Maybe 220x220 with 24 nations, would have helped them.

It would be a much harder game on continents, with 2 large ones and a couple of small one or large island. Then you may get a runaway on the other continent. Otherwise a limit on how many armies the human will allow.

If I get that many armies, it matters not what the AI does.
