Max's Succesions Games : #1

Yep, Padma is right :( These 4 extra foods would have been really useful for our slowly growing capital. Oh and i'm sorry for playing 20 turns, I didn't read your introduction post too carefully I guess :)
Don't think it's too important who plays next turn, but once all of us have played one round we should stick (in my opinion) to that order because games will certainly take more afford and time in the further course of the game. I would hate if I just finished my turn (offline) and finished my report and screenshots and everything, only to notice someone else has taken over my turn because I was too slow :(

Oh thanks... well then next time I'll know.. if there ever will be a next time (think stones and Medieval ages.. for losing such a great cow!! :( :( :()

simplybag: It's all right nmnmnm. Yes I agree with your sentiment.

Ok, ive taken my 20 turns. here they are:

1350 BC: The Ejam`Nai dynasty (aka my dynasty) begins. Our glorious empire learns to make pot(s)! Pottery has been discovered, and work on a system for map making has begun. Persepolis strengthens its guard with a new legion of spearmen. Afterwords, we set out to encourage growth in the city with a granary. Complete in 10 turns. I set both workers on square above persepolis to build a mine. The other worker sets out to finish the road that will not only connect antioch and arbela, but will bring some more silks into the market! I increase the funding major (90%) in hopes of getting map making sooner (20 turns). Breaking even now, when it comes to economy.

1325 BC: Work on the forest section of the antioch-arbela road begins!

1300 BC: The people of pasargadae now have something to marvel at! The colossus is completed! This generates such an interest in the city that merchants from all over flock to pasargadae, and this is expected to boost pasargadaes thriving economy! Work on a spearman to defend the city begins. Mine to north of persepolis completed. Both workers assigned to build road, road instantly completed.

1275: Sent both free workers to start a road that will connect the southern cities with the northern cities. Doing so will also net us some more silks. (i smell future monopoly on silks... heheh)

1250: 2 workers arrive. Other worker is done, and is sent to connect even more silks to arbela, and help in the building of the south-north road.

1225: Spearman complete in antioch. New spearman started. Civil unrest in pasargadae, some people think the colossus is blocking out the sun! Since there was a population increase there, i set the new citizen to be a entertainer that should quell the unrest. All workers begin construction of the roads.

1200: Spearman completed in pasargadae. He should help in preventing future unrests. Another spearman underway.

1175: One tile of road complete. Workers will continue construction of the north-south road

1150: Persepolis completes its granary. 2 workers start wrapping up the north-south road. Since arbela is going to take forever to build the pyramids, i change it to granary, but not all is lost, ive set persepolis to build them now! (even if arbela had a head start, its still faster for persepolis)

1125: Pasargadae builds spearman. More on the way. Arbela builds granary. Starts spearman. Sent worker to tile north of antioch.

1100: North-south road complete, the entire civ is connected now! All workers sent to tile north of antioch. Except for one, who is being sent to susa to get the last of those silks for us.

1075: Scratch that on workers to antioch, all workers to susa! Some will mine the dear tile there, some will work on silk roads.

1050: Pasargadae build spearman. Begins work on barracks. Susa finishes barracks, begins spearmen. All workers start work on the roads/mines at susa.

1025: AHH! Unrest in persepolis. Converted one laborer into entertainer. Antioch finishes spearman, starts developing walls.

1000: Arbela finishes spearman, starts building walls. Umm... mine at susa completed. The people are now mining for dear! (wait, that doesnt make sense...). Since i dont know what to do with these workers, im randomaly sending them to persepolis. might cut down a unused forest tile or something Speaking of persepolis, its unrest is over, but at the cost of food shortage :( -1 food per turn (glad i built the granary?)

975 BC: Road to silks completed. Sending that worker to other silk tile, that way we'll have the road built when susa gets a border increase.

950: Map making is finished! I have the scholars begin research on a new kind of warrior, and iron working in the process (Translation: Started iron working to build immortals)

925: Pasargadae finishes its barracks. Starts work on galley. Susa finishes spearmen starts work on galley. Production at antioch switched to galley.

900: Workers begin a road near persepolis. My dynasty comes to an end, for whatever reason. It will return!

Summarry: I did some technological research for us. Also got us our first wonder. Once those galleys are completed, we explore our immediate area. I also got us a buttload of spearmen
:goodjob:

Also built a fair deal of connections (how many silks are circulating through the civ?!?!)

The only advice i can give is getting overseas territory. If galleys are incapable of doing this, we will need to build the great lighthouse.

Ok, *makes first attempt at posting picture*

...it didnt work.

Heck, it isnt even appearning as an attachment...

um.... ill try the save file now (please work this time)

Er, well, we were hoping for less military and more harbors (the Pyramid was a pre-build for a Harbor), but that's ok.

Only one connection is needed for the Dyes, but a road gives extra resources.

Now I would suggest setting up a city at the purple dot (far western island) and planting forests nearby, perhaps despot rushing a harbor there. Also I suggest establishing more cities in the dots where I indicated.

You need to put your image http (URL), not 'http...'. Did you upload the image? If so, paste the name to the civ file directory and your image will work.

EDIT: Well I suppose it is a good idea to build the barracks for perhaps an early attack of Persian Immortals. :goodjob:

Okay, ill try it again.

And i didnt get much of a chance to build harbors, i didnt get map making until near the end of my reign. I was buildingthe galleys so we could explore the seas a little... sorry.

Good job, Ion Mage. I've upped the screenshot from your savegame for you.

900bc.gif

Suggestions: There still are 2 bonus grasslands around Persepolis which are irrigated! They must be mined! That will give us 2 food as well as 2 shields, same as the forests. Our citizens won't starve that way, either :) To NE the sea is still bright, maybe there's land there? That would be great, we're way too south near the south pole, we need to arrive warmer climate zones ;)
Good luck ErMac or Szpoti

Ion Mage: Click "Civilization Fanatics' Forums" at the top of this site so you head for the main forum. At the bottom of the site there's an "upload file" button, which you use. Then choose the file of your drive and upload. Go back to this thread and click "post reply" (do not use quick reply!). Just type in your text as usually and the "IMG" button in the menu lets you add a screenshot. You will enter the url which will always be http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/FILENAME.gif.

okay...... i got the link working that time....

I am going to play, but maybe only 10 turns, we'll see.
I must say the starting position is one of the worst I have ever had ! It will be wonder if we win. Ion Mage, remember our previous game? It was a pardise in comparission to this.... We will not have any strategic resources!

Turn 0 (900BC)
Production in Arbela changed into harbour and in Susa galley into settler. Persepolis stopped starving - maybe we gain Pyramids later but at least we won't lose people. Since we have been producing Pyramids for a long time I must leave them still in building proccess, however it is not very wise since their effect is limited to one continent which, frankly speaking, sucks...

Turn 1 875 BC
The last silk tile connected with a road, but no use for now as it lays abroad.

Turn 2 850

Turn 3 825
Pasar completed galley, settler started. WE should build as many cities as it is only possible in this continent, even VERY close to each other. The galley sent to NE, there must be something ! Next turn I am going to send it futher inthe sea, maybe it will survive.

Turn 4 800
Two workers finished raod and started mine near Pasar, another worker started a road on a hill near Antioch and later will start mine there.

Turn 5 775
noooooooo, we lost the galley... Another built in Antioch which started harbour. Sorry, mistake, I didn't notice that Pasar is reaching the next population and now it is on riot. Iron Working discovered (of course no iron on the continent), cer. burial started - we finally must have temples - culturally we are cavemen :))

Turn 6 750
Order restored in Parse, settler in 2 turns than galley again.

Turn 7 730
Susa builds settler, harbour started.

Turn 8 710
Pasar builds settler, galley started.

Turn 9 690
Now we can build temples, warrior code is being serearched due to achieve monarchy ASAP. Tarsus founded, harbuor started, spearman moved from Antioch.

Turn 10 670
Turn 11 650

Turn 12 630
Pasar gave us a galley, settler started. Gordium founded, harbour started.

Turn 13 610
Zulus built Oracle... We have just started mysticism after warrior code. NEW LAND DISCOVERED !!! Also new attempt by the galley in NE.

(sorry, I wanted to put here screenshots, but.... - I don't know, is it so difficult for the administrator to manage it in a logical way??)

Turn 14 590
New land discovered also in NE ! And there is a save way to there!

(the same here...)

Turn 15 570
There is an encampment in NE. In the north there is a small island - well better than nothing.

Turn 16 550
Pesar builds settler, it will be sent with a spearman and another worker to the new land in NE. Pesar starts spearman. Arbela completed harbour, starts temple.

Turn 17 530
First landfall in NE.

Turn 18 510
Mysticism discoverd, polytheism started.

Turn 19 490
We gained 25 gp from the encampment. Pesar builds spearman, archer started.

Turn 20
People love us, my choice was Asian style for our palace (don't blame me for that, you know what kind of girls I like :)) New landfall with spearman and worker.
My life is over. My offspring will lead us into the bring future, I believe.
Hints: warrior from south should be shipped to NE for exploring, the same with new archer. We should found another city on our continent on the hills in the east of Persepolis - I prepared everything for it. Maybe another city in the north of Persepolis ? Other settlers should be transfered to the NE - let the expansion begin! The key is to use Pesar as an incubator for settlers - do not overheat it: after settler one or two military units, the city must not lose too many citizens, must still be productive. Change gov. into monarchy ASAP. Good luck!

EDIT: This should be below immediate next post, not sure why it isn't.

*We still have plenty of water nearby as I showed in the dotmaps, for a good 4 cities on the mainland.

*Perhaps we could change the Pyramids to something else later?
LIGHTHOUSE maybe?? Would this work??? I mean it IS next to water..

*Your pics don't work.

*No attachment.

*Small island almost definetly will allow us to expand somewhere else, since this archipelago type is the one with the most land.

Kay.. whose turn is it now? heck, whats the exat turn order?!?!

And yes, our starting position sucked...

preturn - I switch us over to researching LIterature. The Pyramids are useless on this small a continent, I don't think the growth it'll provide will help much and since we're undoubtedly behind the computer in tech, I think The Great Library will be a far more effective and beneficial wonder. we're only been reseaching polytheism for 2 turns so I didn't waste much.

1) Move settler 1 SW to found city, start exploring. Spot a cow east on the new island, will found next city near it.

2) Bactra founded. Archer loaded into galley. Well guess what was near the cows? We make contact with some Roman units. They have Philosophy and The Wheel and communications with Germans, Egyptians, and the English.

3) Nothing much, but I notice this turn the romans have Code of Laws and Literature. Heavy computer trading, as usual. I get Literature from him and switch Persepolis over to GL.

4) Good thing too because egypt just built pyramids. zzzz

5) Romans start building GL. Our exploring galley offs a couple of barb galleys.

6) Pasar builds settler, ship it north.

7) zzzzz

8) zzzzz

9) A Barb galley kills our exploring galley.

10) Sidon founded.
Doh hit enter by accident, no preturn for the next guy, sorry.
