If someone's interested in discussing this, here is the OT thread, and here an article on wired.

The thread here is only meant to inform everyone who hosted his/her mod on MegaUpload, that you have to find another file host now :/.

The effect spreads, FileServe has now de facto shut down by disabling sharing. Grab your Civ downloads while they still exist! They might not tomorrow.

I hope nobody is currently using fileserve...

Any chance we might be able to extend the upload space on civfanatics? Instead of 10 MB something like 20? Uploading websites seem to be illegal now :(.

I don't think we could convince the admins to do that :/.

If you're searching for a new file host, we are compiling a list of available ones here (will copy the thread later, after it's finished, over to Civ5 too).

This is illegal you know.

Compiling a list of file-uploading websites? Nothing illegal about that. File uploading is perfectly legal, as long as the hosts comply with safe harbor acts and remove copyrighted materials when asked by the copyright holders. Megaupload was shut down because they were blatant in their refusal to do so.

Hopefully the fact that MU was breaking the law won't cause a massive anti-file-sharing crusade leading to most of the others being shut down (sadly, this is all too likely; some of them are shutting down already before anyone even goes after them).
