I have recently recived this message in my E-mail

Hi,

we fully acknowledge the continued state of war between our two nations and your unwillingness to end it.
Therefore this is not a peace envoy or a proposal of any kind of armistice. But this proposal is more a question, whether your empire is interested in tech trades nonetheless. We think we might have several interesting offers to make to your people and despite the state of war we are willing to agree to fair exchanges of technology that is not vital to each others military.
So, please reply whether you are interested in any kind of tech trade in the near future.
Sincerely

Lucky
GCA President

Don't send a reply.

edit: We don't recognize them, because we are at a state of war. The embassy is closed.

i think its hella funny and we should discuss it further... but i dont think its the best idea.

Hmm, they will be crispy burnt cridders :mischef:

I think we're acting just a little to hastily here. Reply to them, formally rejecting the possibility of trade during war. Tell them if they want to trade technology, we'd be open to the possibility with permanent peace (one favorable to us, of course).

we could always say sure, at least enough to find out how far they are on the tree.

I think Octavian has a point. If they want to trade then let them agree to a just peace. And no peace that give GCA everything.

Well, that agreement with Elucida and Poly hasn't been concluded, has it? And remember, our goal is the eventual destruction of GCA, not the *immediate* destruction of GCA.
If we can get some tech trades out of this, *and* some peacetime to build up our army, I'd be for it.

I don't think it's even permissable to trade techs without first brokering a peace deal (as far as the game mechanics are concerned), so it's kinda pointless to pursue this unless both sides are willing to talk peace.

First, it doesn't take a genius to realize that the teams on the other side of the world are winning in score. Second, a long, drawn-out war between us will further hinder our collective ability to compete with those other nations. Third, it is possible that since GCA now controls a healthy portion of land (quite possibly beyond the extent of their anti-corruption sphere of influence), they may be willing to establish a border at Balance of Power. Fourth, I think GCA will likely burn in hell before apologizing or making some concessions for razing Yun Feng. And finally, at the moment, I can't think of a better place for them to spend eternity.

I think Vander has a point. Let's find out how far they are in the tech tree and then decide what to do...

For starters, we haven't done anything with Apolyton against GCA. They still don't know if they even want to attack in the next few hundred years.

I propose a message along these lines...

President Lucky,

Fanatikou is always open to technology trades for mutual benefit. However, it is our policy to attempt to limit transaction with foreign entities with which we are at war. Therefore, Fanatikou would be more than willing to discuss trades of technology with the Gamecatcher Alliance if, and only if, our two nations had agreed to a just peace. When the Gamecatcher Alliance is willing to accept peace, and a border at the Isthmus of the Balance of Power, you may contact the Empire of Fanatikou again about trading technology.

With a disturbing increase in power from civilizations unknown, all peoples of our magnificient nations would find it beneficial if this war between out two nations eneded.

~The Empire of Fanatikou

With the exception of the typos at the very end, I think that's a beautifully worded response. I suggest you correct the typos and put this response to a poll in a separate thread so that we can discuss/debate this response properly.

I might reword that last phrase a bit too: "With the recent surge in power/score by civilizations yet unknown to both of us, ..."

Just something to consider...

a wise point d00d
