After Koniri determined that the goblin was no threat and knew nothing of relvance, the team (after some heated dispute) left him and continued their journey into the mountains, where they came upon a sealed door. Opening it with a simple touch, Sal'athim led the way into what was determined to be a tomb. The simple structure provided another map and runic writing, which Kyr informed the team spoke of evil magic, flaming monsters, and something happening to the people who had written it. This meant nothing to the others, who saw the path on the map led deep into the Gonar Republic. When they entered the coffin chamber, the team opened it, releasing in the proccess a cloud of white smoke, which glowing with red magics procceeded to take a semi-solid form and battle them. After finding it could be hurt by the symbol upon their hands they defeated it, and looted a series of rubies from the chamber; the eyes of the dragon statue and a pendant found within the coffin itself. They then settled down to make camp within the chamber before continuing their journey the next day.

-----

Well other than almost killing an innocent goblin and then releasing a hostile smoke monster in the course of your grave-robbing, I would say you guys weren't too horrible this mission. Oh, that was essentially all you did? I take back my statement, you were kinda nasty. :p As you may well be getting used to, look for the next mission next Sunday!

After a seemingly uneventful night, the team decided to return to the road and follow it to the Gonar Republic, where the map they had uncovered pointed. In the process of doing so, they stumbled upon Zerecca, who, taking their marks to be a sign from Thun, joined their motley crew. They arrived in a small village and headed to the tavern, some to drink, some to talk, and some with the intention of actually sleeping through the night. In their talking, they discovered that both trolls and goblins were becoming increasingly common sights in the surrounding area, and also that a young woman had recently passed through after surviving what she claimed was a bandit attack. The team decided to continue on after the woman instead of staying the night, and dragged some of their more reluctant members off into the darkness.

On the road, they stumbled across a pair of dead goblins, and determined that one had been set on fire, whilst the other had its throat cut in addition to minor burns. Deciding they were not in any immediate danger, the team pressed on further into the night, and soon found themselves fighting for their life against a pack of roaming trolls. The battle was long, difficult, and full of friendly fire, but ultimately the team succeeded in killing their attackers. Battle worn and weary, they paused for a moment to lick their wounds...

-----

Well, I sure am glad the team persuaded themselves not to try crossing the mountains directly, risking icy cold, perilous heights, and pack after pack of roaming trolls. That would really have been a terrible idea, and would probably have gotten them all killed, so it's a good thing they dismissed the possibility as soon as it was raised, and nobody argued for slow suicide. Also a good thing that Kinich can tank 3 trolls worth of damage for so long, because that was one helluva fight. As I'm sure you're all expecting, I'm planning to run the next mission next weekend.

For those who don't know (and I admit this is a bit of a late warning, but you should really be familiar with the timing by now :p) the next mission is scheduled to start in an hour and a half.

Since we're (finally) getting into the more populated parts of Metherac, it would be appreciated if you could decide whether or not your character intends to hide their mark, and if so, edit some kind of notification into your character post indicating how they will do that.

The team has access to shops. I'm not sure I've mentioned it before, so selling things out-of-mission will get you half their original price rounded down.

After deciding to rest for the remainder of the night, the team continued onto the city, where they began by selling vast quantities of loot. During their quest to sell the rubies from the statue of the dragon, Fionnlagh was directed to the local wise-woman, who it turned out had recently been having visions relevant to the team. She claimed that they would be chased by demons, and that rubies would have some significance to the chase, although she could not determine whether the particular ruby she was shown would be relevant.

Their loot sold, the team began seeking information on the woman they had been pursuing last mission in the local tavern. Even as Zerecca investigated a drunken ranger who claimed she had been cursed, Koniri bumped into her as they ambled around the town. Koniri determined that her name was Fiona, and after explaining that the team had no intention of killing her offered to introduce her to others who held the mark. However, during her return to the group chaos erupted at the tavern.

Claiming the woman he was flirting with had red eyes, Harren accused her of being possessed by the ghost encountered at the tomb. At first he proved unable to persuade the team, and continued trying to entrap her with words. However, after she asked to see the pendant he wore, he drew a knife on her, just as Kyr determined she was in fact being affected by magic. Even as a tense stand-off erupted between Harren and an uninvolved bar patron over the knives being drawn, Fionnlagh accepted Kyr's words and killed the girl with a single blow as she tried to flee. Although this encouraged the remaining NPCs to flee, including newly-arrived Fiona along with both Harren and Kyr'kersey, it sparked a short fight between those who remained. After all involved suffered minor injuries, Fionnlagh fled with the city watch on his heels whilst Zerecca, Sal'athim, and Koniri remained and were taken into custody for questioning. With the remainder of the team scattered throughout the city, they now face the choice of letting the legal system work, or attempting something a bit more drastic...

Can you say Clusterf***? Because I certainly can, and that's what that mission was! I'm only glad we got a least some exposition done. Well you know the drill for missioning, I'm looking at next Sunday and going 'ooh, continuing the exact same schedule as always looks prettyful!'

After a short time in questioning about Fionnlagh and the murder, the team were released from the custody of the city watch. In the meanwhile, Harren had promised to escort Fiona back to her home in Desomere, and Kyr' had encountered Shael'ah, whom she believes to be a member of the mysterious 'Order'. Shael'ah indicated some familiarity with the team; knowing about the ruby dragon eyes they had been trying to sell, and indicating he would be interested in buying them if the team were to head to his house on Oakburst Avenue.

However, after staying the night in Shamala, Fionnlagh returned to the team as they ate breakfast to once more initiate a large brawl in the tavern that ultimately resulted in his being dragged off by the watch. The team has been asked to remain in the city so as to be there for his trial, but otherwise have been left free to do as they please. A short conference between Kyr', Zerecca, and a reluctant Harren has determined that they please to break into Shael'ah's house at the next opportunity...

We got so close to accomplishing something that mission... then it all went out the window in a massive and unnecessary fight scene. :p I wouldn't have minded so much, but it took so much longer than it needed to: I don't think i've ever seen one person roll so many criticals in such a short period of time, even last time we had a big fight. :wow: Well, I'm sure you know how the drill for these things go, the mission should be happening at the same time next weekend, but I may have to cancel it, since next weekend is going to be slightly hectic for me.

-----

EDIT: Updating the rules so that any new players start with 25 SP instead of 10, as well as a slight boost to their cash. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but the following has led me to actually get around to it: after discussion, Kinich has agreed to make a new character, and Fionnlagh has been turned into an NPC, so as to keep the balance of the game. Since I know everyone is going to ask me, this NPC retains all their former equipment, including anything that may have had plot relevance. :)

Slightly Worried

I derailed the plot so much I had to start over. :king:

Name: Wingless-Flyer No-Scale (Wingefer Noscal)
Race: Dwarf
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Appearance: A young, ragged dwarf; his armor is of decent enough quality, but his other clothes are anywhere from a few years to a few decades out of date. His dwarven beard is slightly larger than average, and carefully braided with fine beads & jewels. He eyes are wild & fiery, and he carries himself with a noble air despite clearly not being a noble.
Bio:
Spoiler :
Born Anian Ambroas in the Dwarven city of Xemek, Wingless-Flyer No-Scale became separated from his family at the tender age of four during a clan hike in the wilderness. Wandering aimlessly for days, he eventually stumbled into the lair of a centuries-old Dragon named Gold-Tooth. Now, Gold-Tooth was old enough that he had already claimed a large horde for himself; he rarely left his lair, both because he didn't particularly need nor want to increase it, and because the risk of thieves plundering his cache was too great. He was, however, also not stupid; he saw that the Dwarf Hatchling posed no threat, and a combination of pity and long-term planning led Gold-Tooth to decide to raise the Dwarf as his own.

Now, Dragon parenting is significantly different from dwarf parenting, and the first years were hard; but gradually, Anian- renamed No-Scale- began exceeding his adoptive father's expectations. Gold-Tooth taught him how to speak Dragon, and as quite a few old tomes were in Gold-Tooth's lair, he also make sure young No-Scale learned Dwarven. Once No-Scale was old enough to speak both languages coherently and think lucidly, Gold-Tooth started sending him out to Dwarven settlements to gather information & trade for supplies. No-Scale proved very good at his role, enough that Gold-Tooth began allowing him access to all books in his horde, not just pre-approved ones; No-Scale began studying the magical arts of Flight & Fire Manipulation in an attempt to become closer to his adopted father, and once, when a party of adventurers broke into the lair, helped Gold-Tooth defend his horde with an old Pike, proving surprisingly capable with it.

Wingless-Flyer No-Scale (Wingless-Flyer being added to his name due to his skill with Flight Magic) continued training, studying, and representing his father/master in negotiations, but all that came screeching to a halt after a party of mercenaries led by the Crazed Doctor were hired to kill Gold-Tooth & bring his loot to their employers; Gold-Tooth & No-Scale fought valiantly, but in the fighting No-Scale was knocked unconscious, Gold-Tooth was crippled in one wing, and almost a third of the horde was lost. Swearing Vengeance upon the Crazed Doctor & his employers, Gold-Tooth sent No-Scale out into the world with orders to track down the aged Dwarf & bring him back to the lair for retribution, while Gold-Tooth guarded their home.

After years of tracking, and with the aid of a hired seer, Wingefer Noscal (the name he uses when interacting with non-Dragons) has determined that old Oisín would be in the elven city of Shamala; as he arrived at the city, though, he noticed a strange symbol on his hand that wasn't there before, and he began to think that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't on a simple mission of revenge...

After an uneventful day, the time came for the team to break into Shael'ah's house. Despite triggering an unknown spell, they pushed through silently, picking up little momentos here and there as they went. Despite a close call, Zerecca was able to bribe the on-duty guard into silence, and the team moved on. After finding little of note in the majority of the house, they arrived at Shael'ah's bedroom, only to find him awake and prepared for their arrival. After a short argument amongst themselves, they decided to accept his offer of giving up their ruby in exchange for the entire break-in being forgotten, and instead opened a relatively freindly conversation with him. He revealed himself to be a member of the 'Order of the Ruby Crown', a group of 'collectors' interested in artefacts of Seonic times, and claimed to be willing to employ them too assist him. He also took responsibility for Kevihn's presence in the caverns, although he appeared shocked to learn that Fiona had been held hostage, claiming it to be an entirely 'illogical' move by a novice he had though might be troublesome. As the conversation progressed, several PCs began to leave, and Shael' admitted that it might be best if they returned in the morning to discuss a future job collecting artifacts for him...

-----

Well, I think that was our first mission completely devoid of any combat, not even a PC-PC fight. Sadly we couldn't get Kinich involved in the break-in, but he gets SP anyway for sticking around being so patiently. :p I'm not sure if I'll be around next weekend, so I'm going to say a potential mission next Friday at the normal time, if enough people can manage that.

Returning to Shael'ahs house early in the morning, the team found themself being hired to investigate an ancient temple in the Amasian Forest in the Gonar Republic. After convincing Fiona and Rosa to come with them, and obtaining horses for the group, they set out on the road east. After crossing into the republic with ease, they were attacked during the night by a group of men and elves. Despite the poor light and element of suprise, they were able to beat off their attackers, but several escaped into the darkness.

Wow that was easy to sum up. And I was so proud of what we'd accomplished. :p Well, you know the drill, next mission is Sunday next weekend, at the normal time.

Based on last nights conversation, it seems that Saturdays are easier for most people to make, so if people can be there, I will consider running a mission tonight.

Name:Ari Lillana / Slasha
Race: Elf
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Appearance: Small elven child, nothing suspicious here.
Bio:
Ari Lillana is a child prodigy magician who was hailed as having the potential to be one of the greatest healers of her time with talent alone; it didn't hurt that she had a wealthy family that could pay for the best tutors either. Unfortunately this all fell apart when she was 10 after her entire family was brutally murdered. Ari quickly ran away from her hometown after the incident.

Slasha on the other hand is and has been from a young age a psychopathic serial killer. Using a scythe as her weapon of choice she takes great joy in hunting down her prey and evading any investigations made into her murders.

These two have nothing in common except the fact that they share a body.

Heading out along the road, the team encountered their attackers again, this time trying to pass themselves off as ordinary travellers. Without the element of suprise or darkness, the fight was over almost before it was started, but their newly aquired teamate Ari, better known as 'Slasha', took exception to the entire incident and had to be persuaded to continue travelling with the team. After this was accomplished, the team continued on to the village of Stonebridge where they intended to stop for the night. However, as most of them were heading to bed, they were interrupted by a local girl taking Harrens pendant. Wearing it, she changed completely, and the pendant began exhibiting previously-unseen magical abilities. Although the team were able to remove it without serious injuries, Sal'athim took the pendant with the general agreement that it needed to be sealed away as soon as possible.

A one-turn fight. El Bandito sure didn't stand much of a chance in a straight up fight did they? Well, the Saturday mission seemed to work out fairly well, so we'll stick with that next week as well I guess.
