This thread is a place to keep the currently most up-to-date plan for the micro on upcoming turns. Feel free to discuss details of micro in the thread, and to post plans.

This post is currently out of date. See the latest posts in this and the turn discussion thread for the latest micro information.

Test save attached, up to date as of 500BC.

Although I'll try and use this to help keep track of questions that need answering in the visible futre, we should try and leave this thread for discussion of micro details and keep the strategic discussions in the turn discussion thread

Good idea. I'll answer the present questions tomorrow, if no-one else gets to it before then.

A few fixes directly from a game file:

29: Lord Parkin chop complete.
30:
* Grow to 4, work fish, fish, gold, gold.
* Workboat complete. Workboat explores in a clockwise direction, heading around the northern tip of the land we can see to the east.
* Set production to Settler.
* Move Lord Parkin SW-SW (11) to grass forest hill
31: Set Lord Parkin to chop.
32: No action
33:
* Animal Handling research complete. Set research to Writing.
* Lord Parkin chop complete.
34: Lord Parkin completes already begun road 1W of Sirius
35:
* Lord Parkin moves S (2) to grassland forest.
* Settler complete and moves onto forest towards City Site 'C'.
* Started building Warrior.
36: Lord Parkin starts chop.
37:
* Writing completed and started on Sailing(?)
* Warrior finished with 1 overflow (which translates into 2 with bonus) and started on Library.
38: City 2 founded (1 turn earlier than expected. Nice work azza on the road build)
39: Worker (Lord Parkin) free to do something...
40: Library complete with exact hammers (1 turn early after using overflow. Nice work Irgy on the micro)

Current questions:
* What turn is writing complete under this plan?
* What turn does the settler actually finish?
* Are we all agreed on Sailing after Writing or not?
Writing completes on turn 37
Settler finishes on turn 35
Sailing question can be answered in discussion thread.

Beat ya :P

Here are 2 save files for everyones use.

The first is an exact replica of our current game at turn 28.

And the 2nd is a run through of the micro listed above to turn 40. Please note that the run through has:
- Exploratory WB sitting idle in City since it was built.
- Worker (Lord Parkin) sitting idle after doing nothing in turn 39.

I just wanted to list those 2 things so people don't use it as a base to go off. Everything else is accurate though.

EDIT: Just wanted to add in I noticed the tile 1E of city2 is meant to be a pfh.

Updated with champinoman's changes. I was indeed an entire turn behind with the worker for no good reason. I also now realise how we manage to finish the settler so quickly - all the overflow from the workboat. The workboat chop doesn't get the workboat any sooner at all, it all just overflows to the settler.

It's particularly nice that the settler completes with no overflow, leading directly into the warrior for the exactly 1 overflow needed for the library on exactly the turn we need it, leaving the library built with no overflow either. It all just seems to fit. So, let's not screw it up hey? :)

One small correction: The hill chopped this turn looks like a forested plains hill on the map, rather than grassland.

I only mention this since I thought I had moved to the wrong tile at first before consulting the screen shots from the actual game.

Edit: Ignore this, My mistake.

I'm looking at the screenshots in the turn tracker thread, and they're all grass forest hill. Maybe you are thinking of the wrong tile? It's 2W of the capital, the only tile in the BFC other than silk that Lord Parkin can get to in one turn from where he is now. Forgetting the look of it, if it was plains it would have a yield of 3 hammers not 1 food 2 hammers.

Crap. It was the right tile, I was getting confused about the yields. Sorry about that.

Here is another option including a revolt to Library. Very similar but slightly different in regards to what gets delayed 1 turn.

29: Lord Parkin chop complete.
30:
* Grow to 4, work fish, fish, gold, gold.
* Workboat complete. Workboat explores in a clockwise direction, heading around the northern tip of the land we can see to the east.

* Lord Parkin chop complete.
34: Lord Parkin completes already begun road 1W of Sirius
35:
* Lord Parkin moves S (2) to grassland forest.
* Settler complete. Move settler to city site 'C', taking advantage of the road.
* Sirius builds warrior
36:
* Set Lord Parkin to chop
* REVOLT to Slavery
37: No Action
38:
* Writing complete. Set research to Sailing?
* Switch build to Library.
* Warrior complete. Camps on Sirius (for want of anywhere better to put him).
* Found Canopus at city site 'C'.
* Canopus works a pfh? and builds a workboat?
* Lord Parkin's chop complete.
39: Lord Parkin moves 1W to Gold?
40: Worker (Lord Parkin) starts Road
41: Library complete, hurrah!

Sirius pop5 expected on turn 43.

When you talk about the worker moves you have a number in parentheses next to the map directions, are these supposed to be the numpad commands for those moves? If so could someone with a numpad check that these are accurate? I play on a laptop, so I don't have a numpad, but those numbers look illogical to me. I would expect S to be (8) not (2) and SW to be (7) not (1).

Other than that everything looks good to me.

Different keyboards have different numpads, so individual keys may vary. My desktop has the (8) and (7), but my laptop has the (2) and (1) for the cases you state. Probably better to give directions rather than numbers as a result. ;)

Well, that's why it's got both. To be honest I though all computer keyboards were high numbers at the top and low at the bottom, while only phones and some calculators were the other way around. Since it's evidently ambiguous I'll just take them out. It is good having redundancy in the directions though in case I make (or someone reading it makes) a mistake. Is it worth considering using "up, down, left, right" or "udlr" then?

Those are good , don't know why compass directions aren't just as good if not better.

Just so long as no one confuses left/right as well.
