anyway in the book sam,merry and pippin use elven daggers they found in the waiths barrow which is why they should use daggers but i suppose they could make their own weapons

just had an idea what about a hunter pack for the hobbits with dogs? because that farmer in the book has a lot of vicous dogs.

They had daggers because they started off unarmed and happened to pick up what they could from a wight's barrow - it doesn't follow that Hobbit military units actually put together with weapons from the start would be using other cultures' cast-offs.

I like this idea mimic, but I think that we are beyond the unit decision stage. I wouldn't mind seeing the hobbits using dogs (I also lobbied for ponies a few months ago but the discussion kind of died out.) Weren't the hobbits good with animals? I wouldn't mind seeing that as some type of advantage for the pint-sized men. Perhaps their 'speed' unit could be a scout unit involving dogs.

Regardless, I think it is too late for any of these ideas, however I would be delighted to be wrong...

We're still changing unit graphics, and I'm sure there will be plenty of additions during the public beta stage.

Well I suppose I should post this here. The LotM team is looking for active posters to help beta test with us. If you aren't active, we don't want you . It sound harsh, but we are looking for people who can give us good feedback on gameplay and/or LotR history. If you can't download 100MB, play the MOD, then type up a bug report every week, don't apply. You'll enjoy the Public Beta much more than the private .

Well, Zxe is sort of right Weasel Op. All the units that Aaglo made for us are going to be in the MOD (no matter what anyone says about daggers and swords ). Still, there is room for more units. I do recall a dog unit being made, but I think that might look funny. It warrants discussion though, certainly. We'll discuss it in the private beta.

Oh and Weasel Op, posting the contact info and call for beta testers is too easy, and would work too well. Where is the fun in that? (adding it now )

It's the other way around; it's for C3C, not vanilla civ 3.

We've spent thousands of posts on this mod during the last two years, I can't summarize it in one post.
The mod currently consists of 2469 files in 168 folders. Not including the leaderheads.

I'm sure that like all mods the whole thing will be contained within a single Zip or Rar file, which you can download and unpack into the relevant place. It'll be a big one, though...

The download is a single rar archive, about 100 MB. We have to download it once a week for the private beta. I don't know how often the public beta will be updated.

With a good DSL connection it shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes to download 100MBs
