Military "Pictionary" Game II

It's not Disraeli, it is one of the Frederick's

And I can't see what's happeneing in the second picture-looks like a ship rammed by the Nautilus :crazyeye:

I know, most other pictures though are a little too obvious as to what the answer will be.

Yup :)

It's not a battle, but it is military

Well, the Prussian guy is Friedrich Wilhelm IV, King of Prussia from 1840-1858. I have no idea about the other pictures, though. The Prussian Navy was virtually nonexistant at that time, so I guess that the ship wasn't Prussian - if it is a military ship at all. Furthermore, it looks like it was build in the second half of the 19th century. Can you post a larger picture?

It is indeed Frederich William IV. I've managed to find a slightly larger version which is below.

You have the right time period and no it's not a Prussian ship, it is however a military ship :)

The Crimean War was fought during that time. But Prussia wasn't involved...

Maybe a battle between Russian and British ships in the Baltic, near the Prussian coast?

As I stated before, it's not a battle nor linked to any specific one

Nope :D

He was a politician though amongst other things which links him to the answer, but his political career does not.

I can't make out the deal with the ship.
Is it sinking? Being rammed by some nautilus-type thing? Ice locked?

Can you give us a clue about the first guy? It's a rather featureless caricature, except for the exaggerated nose, which could imply that he's jewish.

He was born in Scotland but is associated more with England where he lived and worked and represented an area for as a MP. The ship in the second picture has special meaning to him.

Peel was born in Lancashire ;)

A picture that might help (in fact may make it too obvious but...) would be
XXXXXX.jpg

It's not the same ship as the earlier one though.

Is the first man Gladstone?
Is the ship the CSS Alabama?
I know there were scams on during the civil war to make ships in Britain for the Confederacy while pretending to make them for other foreign powers.
Perhaps she was built in Britian and then sent to Prussia to be fitted with guns.....
Stabbing in the dark.

Although Gladstone's parents were Scotish he himself was born and raised in Liverpool. :)

The second ship is the Alabama but as I said it's not the ship in the original picture.

The Alabama was outfitted with guns outside of the UK that's true, but in the Azores, not Prussia. However what the Alabama did during it's career doesn't relate directly to the question.

Another picture is below

Last clue and if no-one gets close before tomorrow I'll give the answer.

The first two pictures relate to the the ship in the third picture (and the pic above) before the events in those pictures. The Prussian king comes into the answer after the events in the third picture. The answer relates to a now well known phrase which wasn't in use beforehand.

I don't think I can say any more without giving things away sorry.

edit: Before I forget, the answer is nothing whatsoever to do with the American Civil War.
