Minecraft

If all kids spoke like this guy, I wouldn't mind them having mics in gmod and TF2.

A student's social study project where they had to create a history of a made up city:

Bravo, bravo. That kid seems much more mature and talented (not just at minecraft) than pretty much anyone I know.

Looks like bugfixes and performance improvements mostly.

Can't wait for the full release.

I've heard a lot about spoutcraft and I am still confused on how exactly it works/what its capabilities are, so can someone help explain or link me to something that does.

I don't remember a lot of details, but it didn't seem all that useful for most people, and the situations where it seemed useful (ie making sure everyone had the same graphics pack) are negated because if you can't get everyone on your server to sue the same pack anyway, you probably aren't going to get them to download and install Spoutcraft anyway. And several of its features are done by the high rest texture program thing anyone using a high res pack already has anyway.

Also, google is your friend: http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/spoutcraft/

Spout currently allows you to bind commands, like /shop, to a key. It also give some plugins, like the shop we use on Croxis's server, a real GUI. IT also has a lot of options to make the game run smoother.

you can also have it so you can choose certain texture packs thats been installed on the server and have custom spout blocks for the server like for croxis.net we have marble and colored glass

Universal optimizations:

Spoutcraft includes several optimizations such as optifine and more refined control over the graphics settings. It includes several common mods such as optifine, hd texture packs, and better grass. In single player it allows you to play on Skylands map. Most of the features are multiplayer centric.

Currently if I want my server to have custom mods, such as extra blocks, items, or something more elaborate such as industrial craft, the end user has to add these mods by hand. If a player doesn't or does it incorrectly it can crash the client, or even the server, when they try and connect. Spout and Spoutcraft eliminates this by "streaming" mods to the Spoutcraft client that only activate on that server without perminantly changing your minecraft install.

Some of these mods are "fluff" such as custom music, sound effects, capes, and so on. Other ones are more substantial such as custom blocks and items. For example on my server we have marble and colored glass blocks. Any spoutcraft player will automatically download the textures needed and see these custom blocks. A player with vanilla minecraft would just see stone or normal glass.

Another example is the Jutebox plugin. It adds new blocks such as a disk burner and several different jutebox players. Custom disk items are used which are burn and when inserted into the jutebox will play custom music to any spoutcraft player in range.

These mods are cahed and stored in a server folder so they do not have to be re downloaded next time you join that server.

It also allows for better server security as the spout plugin has a setting to enforce Spoutcraft clients only. It reduces (but wont eliminate) the use of cheat mods. It also serves as a fantastic intelligence test as the kick message includes a link on where to download Spoutcraft, but most people don't even bother reading it :P

Why thank you croxis.

What is that minimap mod? And is that a map of England/Calais?

...and a guard that is paying no attention to the fact that a cosmic horror from beyond the void is prowling the streets of London. Where's the Doctor when you need him?

What is that minimap mod? And is that a map of England/Calais?

It's Rei's Minimap Mod and the Minecraft Earth Map + Millenaire.

Because there isn't enough Cobblestone in the ground. :p
In a few minutes of testing the Jungle Ruins texture pack by digging tons of halls I had so much cobblestone that I could have created tons of tools and a nice house except for the fact that a) I had no sticks for tools or b) the seed I'm using is gimmeabreak, which spawns you in a village. (so I nicked a shack and set up base :p)

Dude, he set up a system by which he could get as many diamonds as he needs without having to move quarries or change locations. Ever. Don't you see an effing word!
