Minimum RAM not enough?

I tried the demo and the game ran perfectly, but now that I have the full version it's continuously giving me low-memory errors. (The game doesn't stop, but the error window pops up asking me to close and my in-game mouse gets out-of-sync when this happens.) This mostly happens right on loading a new game, while I'm still being read the civilization intro. (Like many of the crashes I've read about today.) I tried going smaller maps and once made it to about turn 10 before I got the error.

Am I just needing to increase my page file size, or is 2 gigs RAM just not enough for the full game on Windows 7?

My specs:

Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2.6 GHz dual core)
2GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600GT
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

Any help/advice (even if it's just 'buy more RAM') would be greatly appreciated

*Edit to add: Forgot to mention, I'm loading the game on DirectX 10/11.

You need at least another GB, preferably 2

Does it do the same thing in DX9 mode? It is pretty common for a video card to "borrow" RAM from your system to try to make up ground when it's falling behind. The DX9 version would be less inclined to do that, and might make it playable until you can throw a couple more sticks of RAM in your computer.

Excellent, thanks, that worked great. :)

I'll still definitely get more RAM when I can, but this at least makes the game playable until then. Thanks again!
