Minor Suggestions Thread

How about changing the name of Tokyo to Edo (It's original name), and having it automatically change in the year that it does, or once you hit the industrial age?It could be sort of like a minor event if you settle a city on that tile.

Kjobmendehavn -> Kobenhavn
Lutetia Parisiorium-> Parisi

In fact, it should probably just be "Lutetia" early on.

Similarly, Jerusalem should be Hierosolyma until around 70 AD if controlled by Rome, and only Aelia Capitolina after that.

On this topic - The recent changes to the CityNameManager.py are much appreciated! However, there are still a few improvements that could be made.

1. "Mbanza Kongo" to be renamed "São Salvador do Congo", and "Mombasa" to be renamed "Mombaça", upon conquest by Portugal.
2. "Jayakarta" to be renamed "Batavia" upon conquest by the Netherlands.
3. Some city names still differ depending on whether the owner conquered it or founded it. For example, for the English, they found "Al-Hartum" but rename the same city "Khartoum".

I am sure more ideas will strike me later.

Mumbai should be renamed Bombay upon capture by the British. Also, Mbanza Kongo should probably become Leopoldstad if captured by the Dutch or Leopoldville if by the French. It's sort of stretching it to use the Belgian name for the nearby major city, but not that much.

Jakarta and Jayakarta are not the same city, Batavia is for Jakarta.

More independent cities in Europe during the classical era? This may be one of the reasons Rome does not expand enough; there are only 2 Celtic cities in Gaul, never in Spain or Britain; it would be more helpful to the player as well so they can just focus on military instead of having to pop rush settlers.

That would be unrealistic, except for Tartessos at the mouth of the Guadalquivir. There were no cities in Europe beyond the Mediterranean until the Romans, and in fact no cities in Western Europe at all until the Greeks began their colonizations.

One thing I would like to see is much greater Greek AI inclination to colonize: Trapezus, Massilia, Syracuse, Chersonesos. Obviously not all in the same game, but maybe consistently found one per game before Rome and Carthage spawn. (This would also involve some way of speeding it up.) Of course, their historical expansion area would probably have to be expanded, but it would be realistic.

I agree 100%

St. Petersburg -> Leningrad if Russia adopts State Property and back to St. Petersburg if Russia should then collapse?

I have seen a lot of times that medieval France does not have acces to iron. The iron in the Rühr area is allways in German hands, so no French knight (and in the Middle ages, France was known for its strong knight armies, the superpower of that era), also, no pikeman or crossbowman, weakening France in that time. If they should take Rome, this problem is of course away, but it was the idea that Rome should stay independent.

Maybe some iron in France?

I favor taking away one of their aluminIum's and making it an iron (e.g. the hill NW of Marseilles).

I'd change Patna with Pataliputra (the name of the city at the time of Asoka, when it was capital).
