Hi

This is my first post and I hope you can help me. :)

Feeling nostalgic, I decided to purchase a new copy of Civ 3 Complete.

The game is working so far, but there are a couple of problems.
The first thing I noticed are some missing unit animations - most imortant being the lack of animations when units die.
The "found new city" animations are also gone.
Is this a known issue - or is there something wrong with my game?

I have installed the 1.22 Rev A patch and the QuickTime one.

Hi, welcome :wavey:

Have you set your Preferences to enable all unit animations? As far as I know they work OK.

All unit animations are on, including "animate battles".
I used to play the game on my old PowerPC G4 and it worked then.

So what happens if a unit dies - instant deletion? Maybe this is just a speed thing, with the animation happening too fast to see on your new Mac? I'll try to put together a video of the action I see on my Mac Pro.

Yes, it just disappears.
There is the option to use less CPU power, maybe that'll help. I'll give it a try.

I do have that option set, but I doubt if it would have the effect you are seeing. In fact, I just tried it, and nit deaths look just the same.

FWIW, I've put together a movie sequence here extracted from an inter-turn in Civ3 Complete for Mac on my system, showing three land unit deaths and one ship sinking.

[PS] Here are my Civ3 Complete prefs:

Yes, it made no difference.
Your movie shows units dying like I remember them from my old G4.
If this is not a "known issue", I'll just have to live with it I guess.
Thanks for your help and advice. :)
